God said, 'After these things, they will go out and they will serve me in this place.' <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And he gave him the covenant of circumcision, and then he begot Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day and Isaac begot Jacob and Jacob begot our twelve fathers.<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And our fathers were jealous of Joseph and they sold him into Egypt and God was with him. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And he saved him from all his sufferings and he gave him grace and wisdom before Pharaoh The King of Egypt and he appointed him Ruler over Egypt and over his whole house.<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And there was a famine and great distress in all of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, and there was nothing to satisfy our fathers. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>When Jacob heard that there was produce in Egypt, he sent our fathers first. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And when they went the second time, Joseph made himself known to his brothers and the family of Joseph was made known to Pharaoh. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>Joseph sent and brought his father Jacob and all his family, and they were seventy five souls in number, <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>( And Jacob went down to Egypt and died there, he and our fathers, ) <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And he was moved to Shechem and was placed in a tomb, which Abraham had bought with silver from the sons of Hamor.<p> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And when the time had arrived which God had promised with an oath to Abraham, the people had multiplied and had grown strong in Egypt, <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>Until another King arose over Egypt who did not know Joseph. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>He was deceptive toward our race and did evil to our fathers and commanded to cast out their male infants that they would not live. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>At that time Moses was born, and was dear to God and was raised three months in his father's house. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>When he was cast out by his mother, the daughter of Pharaoh found him and she raised him as her son. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was prepared in his words and in his deeds also. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>When he was forty years old, it came upon his heart to visit his brethren and the children of Israel. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And he saw one of the sons of his tribe being compelled by violence and he avenged him and executed justice for him and killed the Egyptian who had wronged him. <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And he hoped that his brethren, the sons of Israel, would have understood that God would give them deliverance by his hand, and they did not understand. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And the next day he appeared to them when they contended with one another and he appealed to them to be reconciled when he said: “Men, brothers, why are you doing wrong to one another?” <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>But he who was doing wrong to his fellow thrust him away from him and said to him, “Who appointed you the Ruler and Judge over us?” <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>“Do you want to kill me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?” <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And Moses fled at this saying and he became a nomad in the land of Midian and he had two sons.<p> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>And when forty years were fulfilled to him, The Angel of THE LORD JEHOVAH appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai in the fire which burned in a bush. <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>And when Moses saw it, he marveled at the vision, and when he approached to see, THE LORD JEHOVAH said to him in a voice: <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>'I AM THE LIVING GOD, The God of your fathers, The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob', and as Moses was trembling, he did not dare to gaze at the vision. <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-33.htm#aramaic"><b>33</b></a></span>And THE LORD JEHOVAH said to him, 'Loose your shoes from your feet, for the ground on which you stand is holy.' <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-34.htm#aramaic"><b>34</b></a></span>'I have looked and have seen the suffering of my people who are in Egypt and I have heard its groans and I have come down to save them; and now come, I shall send you to Egypt.'<p> <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-35.htm#aramaic"><b>35</b></a></span>This Moses, whom they rejected when they were saying, 'Who appointed you the Ruler and Judge over us?', this one God sent as the Ruler and Deliverer to them by the hand of The Angel who appeared to him at the bush. <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>This is he who sent them out when he did signs and wonders and mighty works in the land of Egypt and at The Sea of Reeds and in the wilderness forty years. <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-37.htm#aramaic"><b>37</b></a></span>This is Moses who said to the children of Israel, 'THE LORD JEHOVAH God shall appoint you a Prophet like me from your brethren. You shall listen to him.' <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-38.htm#aramaic"><b>38</b></a></span>This is he who was in the assembly in the wilderness with The Angel who had spoken with him and with our fathers at the mountain of Sinai, and he was receiving the living words which he would give to us. <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-39.htm#aramaic"><b>39</b></a></span>And our fathers chose not to obey him, but they forsook him and in their hearts they returned to Egypt, <A name="41"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-40.htm#aramaic"><b>40</b></a></span>As they said to Aaron, 'Make gods for us to go before us, because we do not know what has become of this Moses who brought us out from the land of Egypt.' <A name="42"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-41.htm#aramaic"><b>41</b></a></span>And they made a calf for themselves in those days, and they sacrificed sacrifices to the idol and they were delighting in the work of their hands. <A name="43"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-42.htm#aramaic"><b>42</b></a></span>And God turned and handed them over to become worshipers of the hosts of the Heavens, just as it is written in the Scriptures of The Prophets, 'Why have you brought animals or sacrifices to me for forty years in the wilderness, sons of Israel?' <A name="44"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-43.htm#aramaic"><b>43</b></a></span>'But you carry the tabernacle of Malcom and the star of The God Rephan, images which you have made to worship. I shall remove you farther than Babel.'<p> <A name="45"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-44.htm#aramaic"><b>44</b></a></span>Behold, the tabernacle of the testimony of our fathers was in the wilderness according to what he who spoke with Moses commanded to make it, with the likeness which he showed him. <A name="46"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-45.htm#aramaic"><b>45</b></a></span>And our fathers brought the same tabernacle and carried it with Joshua to the land that God had given them as an inheritance from the nations which he had driven out from before them, and it was carried until the days of David, <A name="47"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-46.htm#aramaic"><b>46</b></a></span>He who found affection before him who is God, and he requested to find a tabernacle for The God of Jacob. <A name="48"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-47.htm#aramaic"><b>47</b></a></span>But Solomon built a house for him. <A name="49"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-48.htm#aramaic"><b>48</b></a></span>And The Exalted One does not dwell in the product of hands as The Prophet says:<p> <A name="50"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/7-49.htm#aramaic"><b>49</b></a></span>'Heaven is my throne and The Earth is the stool which is under my feet.
