from this rock we will bring water out to you.” <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And Moshe lifted his hand and he struck the rock with his rod two times and many waters went out and all the people drank and their cattle. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH said to Moshe and to Ahron: “Because you did not believe in me for my sanctification before the children of Israel, because of this you shall not bring in this assembly to the land which I have given to them.” <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>These are the waters d'Metsutha“Of contention”, for the children of Israel contended before LORD JEHOVAH and he was sanctified among them.<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And Moshe sent Messengers from Raqem to the King of Adum: “Thus says your brother Israel: ‘You know all the trouble that has come upon us. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And our fathers went down to Egypt and we dwelt in Egypt for many days and the Egyptians did evil to us and to our fathers. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And we were praying before LORD JEHOVAH and he heard our voice and he sent an Angel and he brought us from Egypt, and behold, we are in Raqem, a town at the edge of your border. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>Now we will pass through your land; we will not pass in a field or in a vineyard and we will not drink water of the wells, but let us go in the road of the King and we will not turn aside, not to the right neither to the left, until we pass by your border.’”<p> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And Adum said to him: “You shall not pass through my border lest I come out to meet you with a sword.” <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And the children of Israel said to him: “We will go up by the road, and if we will drink from your waters, we and our animals, we will give their price, only on our feet let us pass.” <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And Adum said, “You shall not pass through”, and Adum came out to meet them with a strong people and with a mighty hand. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And Adum did not want to allow the children of Israel to pass through his border and Israel departed from him.<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And they picked up from Raqem and the children of Israel, all of the assembly, came to Hor Mountain.<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH said to Moshe and to Ahron at Hor Mountain at the border of the land of Adum: <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>“Ahron shall be gathered to his people because he shall not enter the land that I have given to the children of Israel, because you provoked the Word of my mouth by the water of contention and you did not sanctify me by the water in their sight. <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>Take Ahron and Eliazar his son and bring them up to Hor Mountain. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And strip Ahron of his garments and put them on Eliazer his son and Ahron shall be gathered and he shall die there.” <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And Moshe did as LORD JEHOVAH ordered him and they went up to Hor Mountain before the eyes of the whole assembly. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/20-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And Moshe stripped Ahron of his garments and he put them on Eliazer his son;
