Elle repose sur le pouvoir de se libérer de l&#39;adhérence aux objets, d&#39;interposer une sorte de filtre entre l&#39;organisme et son milieu (Jacob 1970 : 70). Elle permet de donner une forme à ce qui se manifeste empiriquement et mentalement. Elle est un donné commun qui s&#39;inscrit à même le matériau de signification 11. Cette faculté correspondrait à une augmentation de sens dans l&#39;évolution de l&#39;ancêtre de l&#39;Homme (Changeux, dans Changeux/Ricoeur 2008 [1998] : 262). Elle serait liée à des accroissements de performance de l&#39;ordre de la préreprésentation et relèverait d&#39;aptitudes prélinguistiques (Culioli 1990) 2. La capacité adaptative et évolutive d&#39;interagir avec le monde « extérieur » permet aux individus d&#39;être exposé à leur environnement et d&#39;en garder des traces physiologiques 3. Elle produit les formes qui permettent la signification et la représentation 1. La représentation est formellement produite par le signe qui a une potentialité matérielle (liée au sens, à la sensibilité) et immatérielle (liée à la connexion, à la médiation). La potentialité matérielle serait ce qui existe naturellement, le signe en partagerait les propriétés physiques de formalisation et de sonorité. La potentialité immatérielle serait du domaine du lien entre l&#39;esprit (l&#39;activité mentale) et la projection qui s&#39;exerce à son encontre. L&#39;esprit est médié avec ce qui l&#39;entoure. Il est médié avec l&#39;environnement immédiat (le « ici et maintenant ») et avec l&#39;environnement mémoré, projeté (le « ailleurs et une temporalité autre que le présent »). Le signe projetterait et anticiperait le réel. Il est du monde et dans le monde. Il est coupé, distancié de celui-ci et en même temps dans celui-ci. Il peut être concordant (faire corps), mais aussi discordant, décalé du monde (n&#39;être que corps, autocorporé). De manière paradoxale, la sémiose rend présent l&#39;absent. Le présent est lié à une absence dans le temps et dans l&#39;espace. Ce qui est rendu présent par le signe, dans le temps de son expression-sa représentation-, est distinct de sa réalité : l&#39;objet représenté s&#39;en trouvant absent, ailleurs, sans temporalité précise, en dehors du temps de représentation. Ce projet interroge plusieurs usages nouveaux comme la pratique en orchestre d&amp;#39;instruments virtuels, l&amp;#39;échange et la transmission de partitions interactives pour ces orchestres, l&amp;#39;apport du relief pour la musique visuelle. Les trois thèses qui suivent sont incompatibles quoique chacune semble plausible : (1) Une relation intentionnelle (comme penser, chercher, aimer) est une relation entre un sujet et la chose visée par cette relation. (Par exemple, si je cherche la tour Eiffel, il y a une relation entre moi et la Tour Eiffel.) (2) Il n’y a de relation que si les relatés existent. (3) Il arrive que la chose visée par une relation intentionnelle n’existe pas. (Par exemple, je peux penser à une montagne d’or.) On verra que la thèse qui, du point de vue du sens commun, semble la moins coûteuse à rejeter, est (2). Je montrerai que rejeter (2) tout en conservant (1) et (3) conduit à une forme de meinongianisme que j’appellerai meinongianisme de sens commun (car il se présente comme la solution du sens commun au trilemme de l’intentionnalité). Toutefois, je montrerai que, malgré son attrait apparent, cette approche est en fait intenable : rejeter (2) ne permet pas de maintenir (1). On pourrait alors être tenté par une autre solution du trilemme : rejeter (1) tout en conservant (2) et (3).
