Just as the branch is not able to bear from from itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-5.htm#literal"><b>5</b></a></span>I am the vine; you are the branches. The one abiding in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit; because apart from Me, you are not able to do anything. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-6.htm#literal"><b>6</b></a></span>If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown outside like as the branch, and is dried up, and they gather them together, and throw into the fire and it is burned. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-7.htm#literal"><b>7</b></a></span>If you abide in Me and My sayings (rhemata) abide in you, you shall ask whatever (what possibly) you will (wish, want), and it will happen (be done, come into being) for you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-8.htm#literal"><b>8</b></a></span>In this My Father is glorified, so that you should bear much fruit and you shall be My disciples. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-9.htm#literal"><b>9</b></a></span>Just as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you. Abide in My love. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-10.htm#literal"><b>10</b></a></span>If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-11.htm#literal"><b>11</b></a></span>I have spoken these things to you, so that My joy might be in you and your joy might be full.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-12.htm#literal"><b>12</b></a></span>This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I loved you.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-13.htm#literal"><b>13</b></a></span>No one has greater love than this, that one should lay down his life (soul) for the sake of his friends. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-14.htm#literal"><b>14</b></a></span>You are My friends if you do what I command you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-15.htm#literal"><b>15</b></a></span>I no longer call you servants, because the servant does not know what his lord is doing. However you I have called friends, because all things that I heard from My Father, I have made known to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-16.htm#literal"><b>16</b></a></span>You have not chosen Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, so that you should go and you should bear fruit and your fruit should remain; so that whatever you might ask the Father in My name, He might give you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-17.htm#literal"><b>17</b></a></span>These things I command you, so that you love one another.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-18.htm#literal"><b>18</b></a></span>If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-19.htm#literal"><b>19</b></a></span>If you were from out of the world, the world would love (ephilei) you as its own; and because you are not from out of the world, but I chose you from out of the world, on account of this the world hates you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/15-20.htm#literal"><b>20</b></a></span>Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his lord.
