<A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>And the fountains of the Abyss and the floodgates of Heaven were shut, and the rain was restrained from Heaven; <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And the waters returned from the Earth; they were going and were returning, and the waters decreased after a hundred and fifty days. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And the ark came to rest in the seventh month, in the seventeenth of the month, on the mountains of Qardu—Kurdish. <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And the waters were going and they were decreasing until the tenth month, in the first of the tenth month, the tops of the mountains appeared.<p> <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And it was after forty days, Noah opened the window of the ark that he had made: <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And he sent a raven and it went out, going forth, and it did not return until the waters dried up from the Earth. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And he sent a dove from his presence, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the Earth; <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And the dove did not find rest itself, for the sole of its foot, and it returned to the ark, because the waters there were on the face of all the land, and he reached his hand and he took it and brought it to him on the ark. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/8-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And he waited again seven more days, and he returned and he sent the dove from the ark;
