The proposed method benefits from the insensitiveness of the bismuth bulk electrode to the Bi(III) hydrolysis that affects the common \"in situ\" Bi film approach preventing its use at intermediate to alkaline pH. Instrumental parameters such as the rotation speed, deposition time, frequency, amplitude and step potential were optimized for Zn(II) and Cd(II) stripping signal enhancement. The stripping response is linear in the 20-160 mg L À1 concentration range (for 120 s deposition) with detection limits of 8.09 and 11.5 mg L À1 for Zn(II) and Cd(II), respectively. Cu(II) in the aqueous solution has been developed on the basis of the bismuth film glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DP-ASV). The bismuth film electrode (BiFE) was prepared by adding 500 ppb bismuth(III) directly to the sample solution and simultaneously depositing bismuth and the metal analytes on GCE. Chemistry, 2019</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">A novel method was developed for the simultaneous determination of Pb(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II) based on the cathodic stripping response at a bismuth film electrode associated with oxine as a chelating agent. The developed method provided a high and sharp electrochemical response compared with the method without oxine. A linear response of peak currents was observed for Pb(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II) concentration in the range from 2 ppb to 110 ppb. The detection limits of Pb(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II) were 0.45, 0.17, and 0.78 ppb, respectively. This method was successfully applied to the determination of Pb(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II) in lake-water and river-water samples. The experimental configuration has been tested for accumulation of the selected heavy metals ions Zn(II), Cd(II), and Pb(II), codeposited with bismuth ions on a carbon disk screen-printed working electrode before detection by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry. Chemical and instrumental variables of the proposed device and associate electrochemical method were optimized. Selected parameters gave detection limits in the low ng mL−1 range with moderate deposition time (120 s). Practical applicability was tested on certified water and real samples (tap water and waste water), with acceptable results, suggesting potential usefulness for field environmental monitoring of heavy
