Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest, that He may send out workmen into His harvest.</span> </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>Go; behold, I send you forth as lambs in <i>the</i> midst of wolves. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Carry no purse, nor bag, nor sandals; and greet no one on the road. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And into whatever house you might enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon it; but if not so, it will return to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And remain in the same house, eating and drinking the things <i>supplied</i> by them; for the workman <i>is</i> worthy of his wages.<span class="fn"><a href="#fnb" title="Leviticus 19:13; Deuteronomy 24:14,15">b</a></span> Do not move from house to house. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And into whatever city you might enter and they receive you, eat the things set before you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And heal the sick in it, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has drawn near to you.’ </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And into whatever city you might enter and they do not receive you, having gone out into its streets, say, <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>‘Even the dust from your city having clung to our feet, we wipe off against you; yet know this, that the kingdom of God has drawn near.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>I say to you that it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city. </p><p class="hdg">Woe to the Unrepentant<br /><span class="cross">(Matthew 11:20-24)</span></p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles having taken place in you had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to heaven? No, you will be brought down to Hades. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>The <i>one</i> hearing you hears Me; and the <i>one</i> rejecting you rejects Me; and the <i>one</i> rejecting Me rejects the <i>One</i> having sent Me.” </p><p class="hdg">The Joyful Return</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And the seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us through Your name.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And He said to them, <span class="red">“I beheld Satan having fallen as lightning out of heaven. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Behold, I give you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Yet do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subjected to you; but rejoice that your names are written in the heavens.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">Jesus' Prayer of Thanksgiving<br /><span class="cross">(Matthew 11:25-30)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>In the same hour, He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, <span class="red">“I fully consent to You, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that You have hidden these things from <i>the</i> wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for thus was it well-pleasing before You.</span> </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>All things have been delivered to Me by My Father. And no one knows who the Son is, except the Father; and who the Father is, except the Son, and those to whom the Son might resolve to reveal <i>Him</i>.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And having turned to the disciples, He said in private, <span class="red">“Blessed <i>are</i> the eyes seeing what you see! <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>For I say to you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">The Parable of the Good Samaritan</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, testing Him, saying, “Teacher, what having done, will I inherit eternal life?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And He said to him, <span class="red">“What has been written in the Law? How do you read <i>it</i>?”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And answering, he said, “‘You shall love <i>the</i> Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind’<span class="fn"><a href="#fnc" title="Deuteronomy 6:5">c</a></span> and ‘Your neighbor as yourself.’<span class="fn"><a href="#fnd" title="Leviticus 19:18">d</a></span>” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And He said to him, <span class="red">“You have answered correctly. Do this and you will live.”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>But desiring to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>Jesus having taken <i>it</i> up, then said, <span class="red">“A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who both having stripped him and having inflicted wounds, went away having left <i>him</i> half dead.</span> </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>Now by chance a certain priest was going down on that road, and having seen him, he passed by on the opposite side. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>And likewise also a Levite having come to the spot, and having seen <i>him</i>, passed by on the opposite side. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>But a certain Samaritan journeying came to him, and having seen <i>him</i> was moved with compassion, <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>and having approached <i>Him</i>, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and having put him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn and took care of him. </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>And on the next day, having taken out two denarii,<span class="fn"><a href="#fne" title="A denarius was customarily a day's wage for a laborer (see Matthew 20:2)">e</a></span> he gave <i>them</i> to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you might expend, I will repay you on my returning.’ </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>Which of these three seems to you to have been a neighbor of the <i>one</i> having fallen among the robbers?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>And he said, “The <i>one</i> having shown compassion toward him.”</p><p class="reg"> Then Jesus said to him, <span class="red">“You go and do likewise.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">Martha and Mary</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>Now in their proceeding, He entered into a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha received Him into the home. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>And she had a sister called Mary, who also, having sat down at the feet of the Lord, was listening to His word. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>But Martha was distracted about much service; and having come up, she said, “Lord, is it not concerning to You that my sister has left me alone to serve?
