After proposing a definition that can describe the specific nature of this genre within the broader framework of the category of translationes, the focus is on the cast of characters. In particular, this essay takes into consideration the writing strategies and the narrative functions linked to the key players of the furtum: the costumer and the thief, the helper and the tomb keeper, the opponent and the antagonist, the saint, the robbed community, and the community of the adventus. The goal of this paper is to reflect on the writing mechanisms of the hagiographer, particularly related to the confirmation of God\u0026amp;#39;s intervention in the translation, the authenticity of the relics, and the presence of the saint in his new \u0026amp;#39;home\u0026amp;#39;. tales of the genre named furta sacra, written in Italy during the Middle Ages. The goal of this paper is to reflect on the writing mechanisms of the hagiographer, particularly related to the confirmation of God's intervention in the translation, the authenticity of the relics, and the presence of the saint in his new 'home'.\r\n\r\nM. I have paid special attention to the way in which fifteenth-century Italian humanists used the conventions of the epistolographic genre as a means of expression, as a subtle textual strategy to re-enforce a message or to create a separate narrative strand in a text. I discuss the humanist letter’s use of imitation of or intertextuality with classical literature to create fictional assertations and different narrative strata. I also show how some letter genres attracted the use of intertextuality more than others and analyse examples of contemporary metadiscourse on this kind of referentiality. My observations are mainly based on a corpus of Niccolò Perotti’s letters of dedication.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"Intertextuality as a Narrative Device. Whether this reflects the renewal of a late-antique tradition, the survival of a tradition erased by conservation, or something new in eighth- and ninth-century Rome remains unclear. To understand the transept program in the cultural and political context of Pope Paschal i’s papacy, this paper considers the main developments of the hagiographical paintings in the early Middle Ages, the role of Saint Peter’s basilica as a model, and the specifics of the transept’s space, coming back to the repetitiveness of the cycles of Santa Prassede and to the redundant scene of the martyr trial</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"Una questione romana?
