The methodology used in this research paper is of descriptive and exploratory types. The objective of this paper is conducted through social and cultural values analysis sociological aspects with structure and functional Baiga live in a particular forested area of Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh, Baigacha its neighboring area. Both the male and female Baigas are very fond of body decoration. Besides, the female members like to decorate their body with different kinds of tattoos, known as Godna. Baiga tribe of Baigachak area is declared as one of the primitive tribe of Madhya Pradesh, based on their pre-agricultural technology, low literacy and stagnant population. Baiga are connected to Indo Aryan Dravidian tribes who have unique socioeconomic status and life style. The major part of Baiga earning is spent on food and clothing. In Baiga community, the family is small, but the kinship structures are quite strong. They follow strict marriage rules, such as incest is a taboo, no marriage with outsiders is permitted, and monogamy is the general rule. The Baiga is a patrilineal, patriarchal and patrilocal society. But, they equally respect women. They prefer nuclear families after marriage. The Baigas have a traditional community panchayat. Each tribe has their own cultural identity. The tribal arts, crafts and architectures are one of the most fascinating parts of their culture. The knowledge of this art is a hereditary one which transmits from generation to generation through oral tradition. Their cultural and social aspects are different but their economic status is same. They live in poverty; depend on forest produce, agriculture and nonregular works. The culture of any society is the way of life of its members; the collection of their ideas and habits which they learn, share, and transmit from one generation to the other. In fact, culture is a blueprint for living held by members of a particular society. Tribals are grossly endowed with rich and unprecedented cultural values with which harmony, solidarity, orderliness, sanctity and sanity are ensured within their community. Despite the fact that there were no trained and armed security officers in the olden days as we have today, yet their communities were void of chaos. In view of this, this paper is set to examine some of these tribal cultural values and how the force of modernity has influenced its observance with a particular reference to the Nyishi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. An attempt also will be made to discuss the concept of modernity and equally on how tribal cultural values were enforced in the traditional societies. There are 573 Scheduled Tribes living in different parts of the country, which are different from the mainstream people of the State where they live. Baiga tribe is a primitive tribe found in central provinces of the country such as Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. The largest number of Baiga is found in Baiga-chuk in Mandla district and Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. The Baiga have expertise in medicine and the priests have their special importance. Baigas lived in the forests and carry out shifting, slash and burn cultivation for thousands of years without any influence or competition from other Indian residents. The second largest grouping of the Baigas lives in Bilaspur, Kabirdham and Surguja districts of Chhattisgarh which was formed on 1 November 2000, by partitioning 16 Chhattisgarhi districts of Madhya Pradesh. Life cycle rituals are very important in the family, which is the basic unit of Baiga social structure. These are full of rites and rituals from birth to death, pollution and sacredness, celebration, and mourning throughout the year. Baigas have a strong belief in the institution of marriage. Marriage is a sacred union in the Baiga community. Marriage is regarded as one of the most important social functions in the Baiga community, which institutionalizes sex for the permanent living and procreation of children. It is also known as the sacred tie between loving partners or couples married to their parents. They follow sub-tribe endogamy and do not marry outside the Jat (sub-group) and in the same lineage (Kari) and Garh (native geographical territory having families from common ancestors) due to incest taboo. The custom of taking the bride price is prevalent. Girls and boys are free to choose their life partners after attaining puberty. Polygyny is permitted and a good number of such cases are found in the study area. Marriages are based on affection and love among Baigas. During various social and family functions and dances, especially the Dashahara dance, they also get introduced to each other and choose their life partners. Pre-marital sex is also allowed in the Baiga community and in most cases, they get married. Also find out the discriminatory behavior of the upper caste people towards lower caste people according to their level of social, political, cultural and economic perception. This study conducted in Gora village of Lalitpur district, Uttar Pradesh. Bundelkhand is known as a drought prone area, but this region is also famous for its folklores. Despite the problems such as poverty, economic deprivation, hunger; people of this region celebrate each and every festival with proper tradition with enthusiasm. The data, in this paper, is presented using both tables and graphs for easy comprehension. Over the past few decades, the developmental approach towards the tribes has been influencing their culture in such a way that these tribes are losing their rich cultural elements. Many of the policies and acts have taken them to the process of homogeniza-tion, thereby resulting in the loss of the knowledge systems that prevailed, and were practiced, among this population. Here, the researchers try to bring about the case of Baiga community in Chhattisgarh and the reason as to how their medicinal practices—the benchmark of this tribe—changed due to the policies and acts such as The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, Development-induced Displacement and other centre and state provisions. The researchers have adopted case study method. The cases were 10 Baiga villages in Bilaspur that are displaced and resettled from the present Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary area. Semi-structured interview schedule, focused group discussion and observation are used to collect the information. The study indicates that medicinal practices are almost getting lost from the community. The transformation of the knowledge system has not effectively occurred. The lifestyle outside the forest habitat with the general population is influenced by the policies and provisions of the central and state governments.
