Aquel día hizo tres goles.<br /> Con 21 años juega su primera Copa del Mundo en Italia 90 (donde su selección no pasó la primera fase), pero se dio el gusto de anotar frente a Brasil. 2 años después vino la Eurocopa organizada en su país donde cayó en semifinales frente a Alemania.<br /> En 1994 vino la Copa del Mundo de Estados Unidos 1994, además de anotar 3 goles, Suecia fue protagonista de dicho torneo finalizando en el Tercer Lugar con una generación de oro: Thomas Ravelli, Roland Nilsson, Patrik Andersson, Joachim Björklund, Roger Ljung, Stefan Schwarz, Jonas Thern, Klas Ingesson, Martin Dahlin, Henrik Larsson y Kennet Andersson.</p> <p>Este notable delantero jugó en el mejor Parma de Italia de la historia (1990 y 1995) formando una dupla temible con Faustino Asprilla. Marcó 20 goles en 133 partidos, ganando la Copa Italiana y la Recopa.<br /> Su paso por el Leed United fue para olvidar. En una encuesta publicada por The Times titulada Los 50 peores jugadores de la historia de la liga inglesa, Brolin ocupa un injusto segundo lugar con el siguiente apelativo: “Un buen futbolista trata su cuerpo como un templo. El de Brolin era un castillo hinchable».<br /> Las lesiones y su cuerpo macizo que le provocaron cierto sobrepeso dan por finalizada su carrera en 1999 con 30 años. Actualmente participa en Campeonatos de Poker y no me deja sorprender como algunos deportistas pueden estropear su físico con el retiro, pensando que el deporte da salud permanente a lo largo de la vida.</p> <p>Como anécdota final, se retiró en las filas del Hudiksvalls (equipo de su ciudad natal) y su último partido lo jugó… de arquero.</p> <div data-shortcode="caption" id="attachment_983" class="entry"> <p>Chile es un país de más penas que de alegrías en el fútbol. <a title="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/02/14/los-once-elegidos-para-chile/" href="http://" target="_blank">En 1910 (ya casi 100 años) un grupo de jugadores cruzó la cordillera y la pampa Argentina para vestir por primera vez los colores de nuestra selección (blanca en aquellos años)</a> y comenzó un largo camino que nos tiene, todavía soñando con superar el 3er lugar del ´62, ganar un partido fuera de Chile en una Copa del Mundo después de casi 60 años (triunfo a EEUU en Brasil ´50) y para que decir a nivel de clubes. Salvo las 4 copas internacionales de Colo – Colo (1 Copa Libertadores, 1 Recopa y 1 Interamericana) y Universidad Católica (1 Interamericana), las vitrinas se ven vacías si nos comparamos con Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina y Brasil, por nombrar a nuestro vecinos.</p> <p>Somos junto a Venezuela y Ecuador, los únicos países que no hemos ganado una Copa América y las finales del ´79 y ´87, se ven demasiado lejanas.</p> <p>Mi blog es de historia del fútbol chileno e internacional y para mirar el presente y proyectar el futuro, prefiero que sean otros. Pero quiero hacer la excepción con la Roja de Bielsa. Pienso que Chile clasificará a Sudáfrica 2010 y no será un acompañante de grupo (sueño que nos toque con Italia, Inglaterra o Sudáfrica en primera fase) y estoy seguro que cambiaremos nuestra propia historia.</p> <p>Para el Mundial Sub-20 de Canadá 2008, por primera vez escuché decir a algunos jugadores… «vamos al Mundial a ser Campeones del Mundo» ¡¡¡¡y que cerca estuvieron!!!!. Esos jugadores, son parte de este equipo (titulares o reservas): Alexis Sánchez, Arturo Vidal, Carlos Carmona, Gary Medel, entre otros.</p> <p>El tenis chileno nos ha dado muestras que si se pueden ganar a las grandes potencias: Marcelo Ríos como nº 1, Chile bicampeón por equipos en Düsseldorf o Massú y González, triple medallistas Olímpicos. Esta generación ha crecido viendo estos ejemplos y ya se están empezando a declarar que quieren ganar la Copa del Mundo de 2010.</p> <p>Por mi parte y faltando un año para el Mundial, Chile dará que hablar, será una revelación y no será fácil ganarle. No sé que tan lejos pueden llegar, pero lo que sí estoy seguro que <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2008/11/19/ministro-de-la-defensa/" target="_blank">Elías Figueroa</a>, <a
