El brasileño <a title="El primer gran crack de Brasil" href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/04/01/el-primer-gran-%E2%80%9Ccrack%E2%80%9D-de-brasil/">Leónidas</a> se estaba cambiando un el zapato debido a que tenía mucho lodo acumulado. Ambos se hicieron futbolistas y se transformaron en los primeros chilenos en jugar en la liga inglesa y en titularse campeones defendiendo los colores del Newclastle (1948-53).</p> <p><a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/01/30/la-era-robledo/" target="_blank">Jorge Robledo</a> fue el más conocido de los dos hermanos, delantero potente, goleador. Dejó una huella única en el fútbol chileno (incluso se llegó hablar de la “Era Robledo”). Eduardo o más conocido como Ted jugaba con la 6. Tenía un físico destacado y junto a su hermano construyeron una destacada carrera: Barnesley FC (1946-48), Colo – Colo (1953-56), seleccionados chilenos.</p> <p>Ted se retira en 1958 jugando sus dos últimos años en el Notts County. Regresó a Chile y ejerció como técnico electrónico en la plante de rastreo satelital que la NASA instaló en aquellos años en Chile. Pero en 1965 el fútbol retornó a su vida y se aventuró como DT en el Once Municipal de El Salvador. Duró poco como técnico. A los pocos años comenzó a trabajar para la petrolera estadounidense Internacional Drilling Co.</p> <p>En Brasil instaló torres, después el trabajo lo llevó a África y el Golfo Pérsico donde encontró la muerte en 1971. Desde Dibbah, Omán, la noticia de France Presse golpeó duro a su hermano Jorge. “Asesinado Ted Robledo. Se abre investigación en el sultanato de Omán”.</p> <p>Ted Robledo fue un tipo muy reservado. Podía pasar horas en silencio, pese que además del español, dominaba el inglés y el alemán.</p> <p>La causa se cerró 3 meses después del juicio. El único acusado, el capitán del barco “Assahm” Heinz Bessenich fue absuelto por falta de pruebas. Tenía 42 años, era un “patiperro” y una historia ligada al fútbol eclipsada por el enorme brillo de su hermano Jorge. donde se ve al Maestro en andas rodeado por sus dirigidos de la mítica selección del ´62. Pero la vida de este gran director técnico no empezó ni terminó con el Mundial de Chile ´62, sino que su carrera comenzó muy temprano en 1937 como jugador de fútbol vistiendo los colores de Unión Española. Posteriormente fue campeón con Universidad Católica en 1949. Curiosamente, fueron las únicas camisetas que defendió en Chile, porque en 1950 emigra a Europa a jugar por el Stade de Reims de Francia (cosa muy inusual por aquellos años, especialmente para un jugador chileno). En 1952 recaló en el FC Rouen y al año siguiente viste los colores de Deportivo Vasco en Venezuela. En 1953 vuelve a Francia a defender al FC Rouen hasta que se retira en 1954.</p> <p>Riera destacó como delantero y eso lo hizo defender a Chile en variadas ocasiones, siendo la Copa del Mundo de Brasil ´50 su única participación mundialista. En aquella oportunidad jugó un solo partido y marcó uno de los cinco goles en el triunfo con Estados Unidos que hasta hace muy poco, era el último triunfo de un seleccionado chileno jugando fuera de casa.</p> <p>En 1954 inicia su extensa carrera como entrenador. El Os Belenenses de Portugal fue su primer equipo por 3 años consecutivos, hasta que en 1957 se enfrenta a su mayor reto, hacerse cargo de la selección chilena, equipo que anfitrión de la Copa del Mundo de 1962. El 3er lugar le vale el reconocimiento mundial y lo lleva a dirigir al bicampeón de Europa, el mítico Benfica de Portugal, cuadro donde militaba el gran Eusebio. Con el cuadro luso obtiene un subcampeonato europeo y dos ligas de Portugal en 1962/63 y 1966/67.</p> <p>El 23 de Octubre de 1963 obtiene otro gran honor. horizonte que sin darnos cuenta, no será tan lejano.</p> <p>Brasil ha sido la selección que más veces ha ganado una Copa del Mundo (Suecia ´58, Chile ´62, México ´70, EEUU ´94 y Japón/Corea 2002), pero nunca ha gritado campeón desde su tierra.</p> <p>En 1950 estuvo muy cerca, Brasil hizo el mundial con un solo gran objetivo, ganarlo. Así fue como lo preparó… inclusive Jules Rimet, el Presidente de la FIFA tenía preparado su discurso en portugués y finalmente en un mal castellano le entregó la Copa a Obdulio Varela en una desorganizada ceremonial de entrega de premios.</p> <p>En todos los años que duró la Segunda Guerra Mundial el Vicepresidente de la FIFA, el italiano Ottorino Barassi escondió la Copa Jules Rimet en una caja de zapatos debajo de la cama y así evitó que cayera en manos del ejército de ocupación. Alemania, Italia, Francia, Polonia, Inglaterra, Bélgica entre otros habían sido pulverizados producto de la Guerra. América por segunda vez era sede y sólo 13 países participaron en la justa (6 de Europa, 2 de Norteamérica y 5 de Sudamérica)</p> <p>Grupo 1: Brasil, México, Yugoslavia y Suiza<br /> Grupo 2: España, Inglaterra, Chile y Estados Unidos<br /> Grupo 3: Suecia, Italia y Paraguay<br /> Grupo 4: Bolivia y Uruguay</p> <p>Brasil era una fiesta. 4-0 a México, 2-2 a Suiza y 2-0 a Yugoslavia. En la ronda final goleó a Suecia 7-1 y a España 6-1. El último partido era frente a Uruguay. Con un empate o triunfo, Brasil se aseguraba su primer título, pero aquel 16 de Julio de 1950 se escribió una de las gestas más inolvidables de la historia.</p> <p>200.000 brasileños llenaron un Estadio Maracaná que aún olía a cemento fresco. Comenzado el segundo tiempo, Brasil ganaba 1-0 y todo era alegría. Pero el gran <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2008/10/28/obdulio-varela-el-primer-caudillo/" target="_blank">Obdulio Varela</a> se puso al equipo “al hombro”, enfrío el partido con un reclamo y de alguna forma, esto permitió que Uruguay tomara un segundo aire y a los 66 minutos empató con intermedio de Juan Alberto Schiaffino. Faltando 11 minutos para que acaba el encuentro, ocurrió lo imposible, Alcides Ghiggia <a href="https://pepelotas.wordpress.com/2009/08/17/uruguay-%C2%B450-y-la-historia-de-su-director-tecnico/" target="_blank">hizo callar el Maracaná</a>. Con 83 años recuerda claramente el gol y el increíble silencio. Curiosamente es el único sobreviviente junto a su “víctima”, el arquero Aníbal Paz (actualmente enfermo) que fue “condenado” a cuidar por el resto de su vida esa cancha y especialmente el arco donde le hicieron el 2-1.</p> <p>Antes de finalizar, un homenaje justo a los vencedores y vencidos recordando sus nombres:<br /> Brasil: Barbosa, Friaca, Bigode, Chico, Ademir, Jair, Bauer, Augusto, Zizinho, Juvenal y Danilo Alvim. Los germanos han sido verdaderos animadores de los Mundiales a lo largo de su historia, no sólo por los tres títulos que poseen (Suiza ´54, Alemania ´74 e Italia ´90), sino que además por once presencias en total correspondientes a la ronda de Semifinales.</p> <p>Alemania ha faltado a dos Copas del Mundo, Uruguay ´30 y Brasil ´50. Siempre ha sido un rival complicado de enfrentar, no sólo por su juego agresivo y frontal, sino que a lo largo de la historia han demostrado una frialdad a la hora de planificar sus estrategias para evitar toparse con rivales más complejos en zonas avanzadas. Dos buenos ejemplos son sus actuaciones en Suiza ´54 donde evitaron toparse con Brasil o en Alemania ´74, donde hicieron lo mismo para no medirse nuevamente con Brasil y Holanda. Es cierto, al final, hay que ganarle a todos y no quita mérito lo hecho por los Alemanes, simplemente llama la atención y genera admiración la forma que encaran las competencias.</p> <p>Alemania ha sido generoso a la hora de entregar nombres: Toni Turek, Fritz Walter, Helmunt Rahn, Uwe Seeler, Sepp Maier, Gerd Müller (máximo goleador de los Mundiales con 14 tantos, récord superado recién por Ronaldo el 2006), Paul Breitner, Pierre Littbarski, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Lothar Matthäus (5 mundiales jugados), Jürgen Klinsmann, Miroslav Close, Oliver Kahn (mejor jugador Copa del Mundo Corea/Japón 2002) y el tremendo Franz Beckenbauer considerado el mejor defensa central de la historia.</p> <p>En 1990 fueron campeones del mundo venciendo ajustadamente a la Argentina de Maradona. En 1974 evitaron que Holanda, la recordada “Naranja Mecánica” con su inolvidable fútbol total se consagrara; pero fue quizás en Suiza ´54 (opinión personal) su más impactante título como los “Mejores del Mundo”, debido a que Alemania se re estrenaba después de finalizada la II Guerra Mundial en 1945, además, Hungría venía invicta dos años consecutivos con un fútbol que era motivo de admiración mundial. Hay que sumar que Alemania había perdido categóricamente contra el equipo Magiar en primera ronda… por lo tanto, su primera Copa del Mundo tiene ribetes antológicos y vale la pena recordarlo.</p> class="entry"> <p>La irrupción de Dinamarca en las Copas del Mundo, fue espectacular. Ocurrió en México ´86 e integraba el Grupo “E” que fue denominado “El Grupo de la Muerte”. En aquella oportunidad debutó contra Escocia a la cual vence por 1-0.</p> <p>Uruguay fue el segundo rival y sufrió una verdadera paliza al ser derrotado por 6-1, lo que se transformó en una tremenda humillación histórica para los Charrúas. La máquina danesa funcionó a pleno, con Preben Elkjaer Larsern, Brian Laudrup y Soren Lerby, entregando una verdadera clase magistral de buen fútbol.</p> <p>La complicadísima Alemania Federal asomaba como el tercer rival. Dinamarca lo vence claramente 2-0 y comienza a vislumbrarse como un potencial aspirante al título. Una vez instalado en Octavos de Final, España figuraba ya como la próxima víctima de esta máquina de fútbol que se había transformado Dinamarca, pero para sorpresa de todos, Emilio “El Buitre” Butragueño tuvo una tarde más que inspirada y vence categóricamente 5-1 a los Daneses.</p> <p>De esta forma, Dinamarca se despide con una heroica actuación, que generó un cambio potencial en el fútbol danés. 6 años después obtenía la Eurocopa de Suecia ´92. En Francia ´98 llega hasta Cuartos de Final y es derrotado en un partidazo frente a Brasil por 3-2. class="entry"> <p>Eslovaquia ejerce su pleno derecho como nación desde 1993 y para esta edición de la Copa del Mundo hace su debut absoluto en la cita máxima del fútbol mundial. De todas formas, existe un precedente no menor, debido a que el pasado de Eslovaquia está plenamente vinculado con la extinta Checoslovaquia, nación que estuvo presente en 8 Copas del Mundo, siendo finalista en dos de ellas: En Italia ´34 cayó ante los anfitriones en un disputado partido y para el mundial de Chile ´62, Brasil resultó ser su verdugo.</p> <p>En 1934 la Copa del Mundo estaba conformada con un sistema de eliminación directa. En 1ra fase Checoslovaquia derrota a Rumania 2×1. Ya en Cuartos de Final en un apretado partido, vence 3×2 a Suiza y en Semifinales hace lo mismo ante Austria, esta vez 1×0. El 10 de Junio de 1934, iguala 1-1 ante Italia y obliga a jugar tiempo suplementario, donde finalmente caen derrotados con un gol de Angelo Schiavo en el minuto 95. En Cuartos de Final derrota a Hungría 1-0 y en Semifinales hace lo propio contra Yugoslavia por 3-1. Una vez ahí, Italia lo vence en polémico partido por 1-0, debido a un penal cobrado en el minuto 5 del tiempo agregado.</p> <p>Aquella tarde del 26 de Junio de 2006 Australia cayó heroicamente ante los italianos, quienes a los pocos días se transformaron en los campeones mundiales. Con el pasar de los años, fue transformándose en un referente de poderío económico a nivel mundial.</p> <p>Ya a fines de los ´80 comenzó a importar destacados jugadores internacionales que estaba cerca del retiro, hasta que en la temporada ´91/´92 desembarcó el gran Zico (también conocido como el Pelé Blanco), el cual influyó positivamente en el crecimiento del fútbol nipón, llegando incluso a dirigir al seleccionado en la última Copa del Mundo.</p> <p>Francia ´98 marca el debut japonés en los Mundiales integrando el Grupo H ante Argentina (0-1), Croacia (0-1) y Jamaica (1-2). Esta experiencia previa sirvió para la Copa del Mundo de 2002 que lo tuvo como coanfitrión junto a Corea del Sur.</p> <p>En aquella oportunidad gana su grupo empatando 2-2 ante Bélgica y venciendo 1-0 a Rusia y 2-0 a Túnez. En Octavos de Final le tocó enfrentar a la sorprendente Turquía que los vence apretadamente por 1-0, dando por finalizada su aventura mundialista como local.</p> <p>Para Alemania 2006 vuelve a clasificar y no realiza un buen papel, cae derrotada en el debut ante Australia por 3-1, empata sin goles ante Croacia y Brasil los golea con un contundente 4-1.</p> <p>No cabe dudas que el jugador símbolo de las tres participaciones mundialistas de Japón fue el mediocampista Hidetoshi Nakata, jugador que además de integrar el plantel de Japón en el Mundial Sub-17 de Japón ´93, destacó en el extranjero jugando por equipos como el Perugia, la Roma, Parma, Bologna y Fiorentina, todos de Italia. Todo lo contrario ocurre con el fútbol en este país isleño, que es un deporte totalmente secundario y que no genera la pasión del Rugby.</p> <p>Fue el año 1982 cuando Nueva Zelanda hizo su debut absoluto en la Copa del Mundo. España era el país organizador y los rivales fueron Brasil, Unión Soviética y Escocia… obviamente y como se esperaba, los isleños poco pudieron hacer. Cayeron en los tres encuentros, 5-2 ante Escocia, 3-0 contra la Unión Soviética y un categórico 4-0 con Brasil.</p> <p>Steve Summer y Steve Wooddin pasaron a la historia del fútbol neozelandés como los dos únicos autores de goles mundialistas.
