One important task of this new system is to establish a service that provides timely and reliable collision warnings to spacecraft operators. This service is considered to be the main design driver for the whole surveillance and tracking segment. The minimum size of objects to be covered, the accuracy of the orbit information to be maintained and the system's response time are the major performance issues connected with this service.
