If<MG1487> You are doing<MG4160> these<MG3778> things<MG3778>, show<MG5319> Yourself<MG4572> to the world<MG2889>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>For not even<MG3761> His brothers<MG80> believed<MG4100> in Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>So<MG3767> Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to them, “My time<MG2540> is not yet<MG3768> here<MG3918a>, but your time<MG2540> is always<MG3842> ready<MG2092>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>The world<MG2889> cannot<MG1410, 3756> hate<MG3404> you, but it hates<MG3404> Me because<MG3754> I testify<MG3140> about<MG4012> it, that its deeds<MG2041> are evil<MG4190>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Go<MG305> up<MG305> to the feast<MG1859> yourselves<MG4771>; I am not going<MG305> up<MG305> to this<MG3778> feast<MG1859>, because<MG3754> My time<MG2540> has not yet<MG3768> fully<MG4137> arrived<MG4137>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> having said<MG3004> these<MG3778> things<MG3778> to them, He stayed<MG3306> in Galilee<MG1056>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But when<MG5613> His brothers<MG80> had gone<MG305> up<MG305> to the feast<MG1859>, then<MG5119> He Himself<MG846> also<MG2532> went<MG305> up<MG305>, not publicly<MG5320>, but as <i>though</i> in secret<MG2927>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>So<MG3767> the Jews<MG2453> were looking<MG2212> for<MG2212> Him at the feast<MG1859> and saying<MG3004>, “Where<MG4226> is He?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And there was a great<MG4183> deal<MG4183> of talk<MG1112> about<MG4012> Him in<MG1112> secret<MG1112> among<MG1722> the crowds<MG3793>: some<MG3588, 3303a> were saying<MG3004>, “He is a good<MG18> man<MG18>”; others<MG243> were saying<MG3004>, “No<MG3756>, on the contrary<MG235>, He is misleading<MG4105> the people<MG3793>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>However<MG3305>, no<MG3762> one<MG3762> was speaking<MG2980> openly<MG3954> about<MG4012> Him, for fear<MG5401> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>the Jews<MG2453>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>But when it was now<MG2235> the middle<MG3322> of the feast<MG1859>, Jesus<MG2424> went<MG305> up<MG305> into the temple<MG2413> <i>area,</i> and <i>began to</i> teach<MG1321>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>The Jews<MG2453> then<MG3767> were<MG2296> astonished<MG2296>, saying<MG3004>, “How<MG4459> has this<MG3778> man<MG3778> become<MG3609a> learned<MG3609a, 1121>, not having been educated<MG3129>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>So<MG3767> Jesus<MG2424> answered<MG611> them and said<MG3004>, “My teaching<MG1322> is not My own<MG1699>, but His who sent<MG3992> Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>If<MG1437> anyone<MG5100> is willing<MG2309> to do<MG4160> His will<MG2307>, he will know<MG1097> about<MG4012> the teaching<MG1322>, whether<MG4220> it is of God<MG2316>, or<MG2228> I am speaking<MG2980> from Myself<MG1683>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>The one who speaks<MG2980> from himself<MG1438> seeks<MG2212> his own<MG2398> glory<MG1391>; but He who is seeking<MG2212> the glory<MG1391> of the One who sent<MG3992> Him, He is true<MG227>, and there is no<MG3756> unrighteousness<MG93> in Him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>“Did Moses<MG3475> not give<MG1325> you the Law<MG3551>, and <i>yet</i> none<MG3762> of you carries<MG4160> out<MG4160> the Law<MG3551>? Why<MG5101> are you seeking<MG2212> to kill<MG615> Me?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>The crowd<MG3793> answered<MG611>, “You have<MG2192> a demon<MG1140>! Who<MG5101> is seeking<MG2212> to kill<MG615> You?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> answered<MG611> them, “I did<MG4160> one<MG1520> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>deed<MG2041>, and you all<MG3956> are<MG2296> astonished<MG2296>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>For this<MG3778> reason<MG1223> Moses<MG3475> has given<MG1325> you circumcision<MG4061> (not that it is from Moses<MG3475>, but from the fathers<MG3962>), and <i>even</i> on a Sabbath<MG4521> you circumcise<MG4059> a man<MG444>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>If<MG1487> a man<MG444> receives<MG2983> circumcision<MG4061> on a Sabbath<MG4521> so<MG2443> that<MG2443> the Law<MG3551> of Moses<MG3475> will not be broken<MG3089>, are you angry<MG5520> at Me because<MG3754> I made<MG4160> an entire<MG3650> man<MG444> well<MG5199> on a Sabbath<MG4521>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Do not judge<MG2919> by the outward<MG3799> appearance<MG3799>, but judge<MG2919> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>with righteous<MG1342> judgment<MG2920>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>So<MG3767> some<MG5100> of the people<MG2415> of<MG2415> Jerusalem<MG2415> were saying<MG3004>, “Is this<MG3778> man<MG3778> not the one whom<MG3739> they are seeking<MG2212> to kill<MG615>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And <i>yet</i> look<MG2396>, He is speaking<MG2980> publicly<MG3954>, and they are saying<MG3004> nothing<MG3762> to Him. The rulers<MG758> do not really<MG230> know<MG1097> that this<MG3778> is the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>Christ<MG5547>, do they? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>However<MG235>, we know<MG3609a> where<MG4159> this<MG3778> man<MG3778> is from; but when<MG3752> the Christ<MG5547> comes<MG2064>, no<MG3762> one<MG3762> knows<MG1097> where<MG4159> He is from.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Then<MG3767> Jesus<MG2424> cried<MG2896> out<MG2896> in the temple<MG2413>, teaching<MG1321> and saying<MG3004>, “You both<MG2532> know<MG3609a> Me and you know<MG3609a> where<MG4159> I am<MG1510> from; and I have not come<MG2064> of Myself<MG1683>, but He who sent<MG3992> Me is true<MG228>, whom<MG3739> you do not know<MG3609a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>I do know<MG3609a> Him, because<MG3754> I am<MG1510> from Him, and He sent<MG649> Me.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>So<MG3767> they were seeking<MG2212> to arrest<MG4084> Him; and <i>yet</i> no<MG3762> one<MG3762> laid<MG1911> a hand<MG5495> on Him, because<MG3754> His hour<MG5610> had not yet<MG3768> come<MG2064>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>But many<MG4183> of the crowd<MG3793> believed<MG4100> in Him; and they were saying<MG3004>, “When<MG3752> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>Christ<MG5547> comes<MG2064>, He will not perform<MG2038b> more<MG4183> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>signs<MG4592> than those which<MG3739> this<MG3778> man<MG3778> has done<MG2038b>, will He?” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>The Pharisees<MG5330> heard<MG191> the crowd<MG3793> whispering<MG1111> these<MG3778> things<MG3778> about<MG4012> Him, and the chief<MG749> priests<MG749> and the Pharisees<MG5330> sent<MG649> officers<MG5257> to arrest<MG4084> Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004>, “For a little<MG3398> while<MG5550> longer<MG2089> I am<MG1510> <i>going to be</i> with you, and <i>then</i> I am going<MG5217> to Him who sent<MG3992> Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>You will seek<MG2212> Me, and will not find<MG2147> Me; and where<MG3699> I am<MG1510>, you cannot<MG1410, 3756> come<MG2064>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>The Jews<MG2453> then<MG3767> said<MG3004> to one<MG1438> another<MG1438>, “Where<MG4226> does this<MG3778> man<MG3778> intend<MG3195> to go<MG4198> that we will not find<MG2147> Him? He does not intend<MG3195> to go<MG4198> to the Dispersion<MG1290> among the Greeks<MG1672>, and teach<MG1321> the Greeks<MG1672>, does He? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>What<MG5101> is this<MG3778> statement<MG3056> that He said<MG3004>, ‘You will seek<MG2212> Me, and will not find<MG2147> Me; and where<MG3699> I am<MG1510>, you cannot<MG1410, 3756> come<MG2064>’?” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> on the last<MG2078> day<MG2250>, the great<MG3173> <i>day</i> of the feast<MG1859>, Jesus<MG2424> stood<MG2476> and cried<MG2896> out<MG2896>, saying<MG3004>, “If<MG1437> anyone<MG5100> is<MG1372> thirsty<MG1372>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>let him come<MG2064> to Me and drink<MG4095>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>The one who believes<MG4100> in Me, as the Scripture<MG1124> said<MG3004>, ‘<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>From his innermost<MG2836> being<MG2836> will flow<MG4482> rivers<MG4215> of living<MG2198> water<MG5204>.’” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>But this<MG3778> He said<MG3004> in<MG4012> reference<MG4012> to<MG4012> the Spirit<MG4151>, whom<MG3739> those<MG3588> who believed<MG4100> in Him were to receive<MG2983>; for the Spirit<MG4151> was not yet<MG3768> <i>given,</i> because<MG3754> Jesus<MG2424> was not yet<MG3764> glorified<MG1392>. <p class="hdg">People’s Division over Jesus</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span><i>Some</i> of the people<MG3793> therefore<MG3767>, after they heard<MG191> these<MG3778> words<MG3056>, were saying<MG3004>, “This<MG3778> truly<MG230> is the Prophet<MG4396>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>Others<MG243> were saying<MG3004>, “This<MG3778> is the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>Christ<MG5547>.” But others<MG3588> were saying<MG3004>, “Surely<MG1063, 3361> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>Christ<MG5547> is not coming<MG2064> from Galilee<MG1056>, is He? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>Has the Scripture<MG1124> not said<MG3004> that the Christ<MG5547> comes<MG2064> from the descendants<MG4690> of David<MG1160b>, and from Bethlehem<MG965>, the village<MG2968> where<MG3699> David<MG1160b> was?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>So<MG3767> a dissension<MG4978> occurred<MG1096> in the crowd<MG3793> because<MG1223> of Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>And some<MG5100> of them wanted<MG2309> to arrest<MG4084> Him, but no<MG3762> one<MG3762> laid<MG1911> hands<MG5495> on Him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>The officers<MG5257> then<MG3767> came<MG2064> to the chief<MG749> priests<MG749> and Pharisees<MG5330>, and they said<MG3004> to them, “Why<MG1223, 5101> did you not bring<MG71> Him?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span>The officers<MG5257> answered<MG611>, “Never<MG3763> has a man<MG444> spoken<MG2980> in<MG3779> this<MG3779> way<MG3779>!” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span>The Pharisees<MG5330> then<MG3767> replied<MG611> to them, “You have not been led<MG4105> astray<MG4105> too<MG2532>, have you? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-48.htm"><b>48</b></a></span>Not one<MG5100> of the rulers<MG758> or<MG2228> Pharisees<MG5330> has believed<MG4100> in Him, has he? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-49.htm"><b>49</b></a></span>But this<MG3778> crowd<MG3793> that does not know<MG1097> the Law<MG3551> is accursed<MG1884a>!” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-50.htm"><b>50</b></a></span>Nicodemus<MG3530> (the one who came<MG2064> to Him before<MG4387>, being<MG1510> one<MG1520> of them) *said<MG3004> to them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-51.htm"><b>51</b></a></span>“Our Law<MG3551> does not judge<MG2919> the person<MG444> unless<MG1437, 3361> it first<MG4413> hears<MG191> from him and knows<MG1097> what<MG5101> he is doing<MG4160>, does it?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-52.htm"><b>52</b></a></span>They answered<MG611> and said<MG3004> to him, “You are not from Galilee<MG1056> as<MG2532> well<MG2532>, are you?
