By his sorcery he deceived the people of the Samaritans as he was magnifying himself and saying, “I am the great God.” <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And they were all praying to him, noble and common, and they were saying, “This is the great power of God.” <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And they were all persuaded by him, because many times he had astonished them by his sorceries. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>When they believed Philippus, who was proclaiming The Kingdom of God in the name of our Lord Yeshua The Messiah, they were being baptized, men and women. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>Simon also believed and was baptized and was joined to Philippus, and when he saw the signs and the great miracles that were done by his hand, he marveled and was astonished.<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And when the Apostles of Jerusalem heard that the people of the Samaritans had received the word of God, they sent Shimeon Kaypha and Yohannan to them. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And they went down and prayed over them so that they would receive The Spirit of Holiness. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>For he was upon none of them yet, but they had only been baptized in the name of our Lord Yeshua. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And they were laying hands upon them, and they were receiving The Spirit of Holiness. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And when Simon saw that by laying on of the hands of the Apostles The Spirit of Holiness was given, he brought silver to them, <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>As he said, “Give me also this authority that he on whomever I place a hand will receive The Spirit of Holiness.” <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>Shimeon Kaypha said to him, “Your silver will go with you to destruction, because you thought that the gift of God is acquired by the possessions of the world.” <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>“You have no part or allotment in this faith, because your heart is not upright before God. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>But turn from this your evil and request from God that perhaps the treachery of your heart may be forgiven you. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>For I see that you are in the wrath of bitterness and in a knot of evil.” <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>Simon answered, and he said, “Ask God for my sake, that none of these things which you have said may come upon me.”<p> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>But Shimeon and Yohannan, when they had testified and taught the word of God, returned to Jerusalem. And they preached The Gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.<p> <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And The Angel of THE LORD JEHOVAH spoke with Philippus and he said to him, “Arise, go to the south by the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And he arose to go and met a certain Eunuch who had come from Kush, an official of Qandiqe, Queen of the Kushites, and he was authorized over all her treasury and had come to worship in Jerusalem. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>As he turned to go, he sat down on the chariot and was reading in Isaiah The Prophet. <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And The Spirit said to Philippus, “Approach and join the chariot.” <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>And as he approached, he heard what he read in Isaiah The Prophet and he said to him, “Do you understand what you are reading?” <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>And he said, “How can I understand unless a man will instruct me?” And he asked Philippus to come up and sit with him.<p> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>But the section of Scripture he read had this in it: “He was led as a lamb for sacrifice and as a ewe before its shearer is silent, also in this way he opened not his mouth.”<p> <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-33.htm#aramaic"><b>33</b></a></span>“He was led in his humility from imprisonment and from judgment and who will narrate his time? For his life is taken from The Earth.”<p> <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-34.htm#aramaic"><b>34</b></a></span>And that Eunuch said to Philippus, “I beg of you, about whom did The Prophet say this, about himself or about another man?” <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-35.htm#aramaic"><b>35</b></a></span>Then Philippus opened his mouth and began from this Scripture to preach about our Lord Yeshua to him. <A name=""></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/acts/8-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>And as they were going on the road, they were arriving at one place that had water in it, and that Eunuch said, “Behold, water!
