Ajimase</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Au moment où Sanni Abacha déclare le français comme deuxième langue officielle du Nigeria en décembre 1996, il n&#39;existe aucun document situant cette langue dans la politique d&#39;éducation au Nigeria. La constitution de la République Fédérale du Nigeria et la liste des 527 langues en présence au Nigeria ne font mention du français. Seule la Politique Nationale de l&#39;Education (NPE) évoque plus ou moins légèrement la question du statut du français, après avoir élevé l&#39;Igbo, l&#39;Haoussa et le yorouba au rang de langues nationales devant participer à la promotion de l&#39;unité nationale au Nigeria. Tout ceci pousse à s&#39;interroger sur la vision de l&#39;état nigérian en ce qui concerne le « véritable » statut de la langue française et la vision du pays sur l&#39;enseignement de cette langue. Cette communication tente de déchiffrer et de décrypter cette vision à la lumière des textes exprimant la politique linguistique du pays. Il ressort de cette étude que la vision du pays sur l&#39;enseignement du français est exprimée plus par des discours politiques dénotant plus ou moins une certaine volonté politique que par des textes qui concrètement et solidement établissent cette volonté politique. Comme le yoruba, langue défolie de la famille nigéro-congolaise, et le français, langue romane de la famille indo-européenne. Des coïncidences sur les plans morphosyntaxiques amènent à une tentative de technicité discursive dans les deux langues citées. Par technicité, il faut entendre la capacité d&#39;une langue de s&#39;exprimer en des termes techniques afin d&#39;appréhender les faits de l&#39;univers techniques qui l&#39;entoure, ayant à l&#39;esprit que tout langue possède cette même capacité. Parlant de la langue yoruba, Afolayan (1980 :53) note que le yoruba, tout comme le français, « possède la capacité d&#39;évoluer des ressources phonologiques et morphiniques pour faire face à la modernité, si bien». Les prospections géophysiques récentes ont permis de délimiter un site d&#39;environ six hectares, dont un tiers est dévolu à la partie résidentielle, notamment des thermes de près de 500 m 2 . Si les vestiges affichent parfois plus de 1,50 m de conservation en élévation, presque tous les éléments décoratifs n&#39;ont été trouvés qu&#39;en position secondaire, dans les remblais antiques ou les déblais postérieurs à l&#39;abandon du site.
