If<MG1437> anyone<MG5100> walks<MG4043> during<MG1722> the day<MG2250>, he does not stumble<MG4350>, because<MG3754> he sees<MG991> the light<MG5457> of this<MG3778> world<MG2889>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But if<MG1437> anyone<MG5100> walks<MG4043> during<MG1722> the night<MG3571>, he stumbles<MG4350>, because<MG3754> the light<MG5457> is not in <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>him.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>This<MG3778> He said<MG3004>, and after<MG3326> this<MG3778> He *said<MG3004> to them, “Our friend<MG5384> Lazarus<MG2976> has fallen<MG2837> asleep<MG2837>; but I am going<MG4198> so<MG2443> that<MG2443> I may awaken<MG1852> him from<MG1852> sleep<MG1852>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>The disciples<MG3101> then<MG3767> said<MG3004> to Him, “Lord<MG2962>, if<MG1487> he has fallen<MG2837> asleep<MG2837>, he will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>come<MG4982> out<MG4982> of<MG4982> it<MG4982>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> Jesus<MG2424> had spoken<MG3004> of his death<MG2288>, but they thought<MG1380> that He was speaking<MG3004> about<MG4012> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>actual<MG2838> sleep<MG5258>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>So<MG3767> Jesus<MG2424> then<MG3767> said<MG3004> to them plainly<MG3954>, “Lazarus<MG2976> died<MG599>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>and I am<MG5463> glad<MG5463> for your sakes<MG1223> that I was not there<MG1563>, so<MG2443> that<MG2443> you may believe<MG4100>; but let’s go<MG71> to him.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> Thomas<MG2381>, who was called<MG3004> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>Didymus<MG1324>, said<MG3004> to <i>his</i> fellow<MG4827> disciples<MG4827>, “Let’s also<MG2532> go<MG71>, so<MG2443> that<MG2443> we may die<MG599> with Him!” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>So<MG3767> when Jesus<MG2424> came<MG2064>, He found<MG2147> that he had already<MG2235> been<MG2192> in the tomb<MG3419> four<MG5064> days<MG2250>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> Bethany<MG963> was near<MG1451> Jerusalem<MG2414>, about<MG5613> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>fifteen<MG1178b> stadia<MG4712> away<MG575>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>and many<MG4183> of the Jews<MG2453> had come<MG2064> to Martha<MG3136> and Mary<MG3137>, to console<MG3888> them about<MG4012> <i>their</i> brother<MG80>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>So<MG3767> then<MG3767> Martha<MG3136>, when<MG5613> she heard<MG191> that Jesus<MG2424> was coming<MG2064>, went<MG5221> to<MG5221> meet<MG5221> Him, but Mary<MG3137> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>stayed<MG2516> in the house<MG3624>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Martha<MG3136> then<MG3767> said<MG3004> to Jesus<MG2424>, “Lord<MG2962>, if<MG1487> You had been<MG1510> here<MG5602>, my brother<MG80> would not have died<MG599>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Even<MG2532> now<MG3568> I know<MG3609a> that whatever<MG3745, 302> You ask<MG154> of God<MG2316>, God<MG2316> will give<MG1325> You.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to her, “Your brother<MG80> will rise<MG450> <i>from the dead.</i>” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Martha<MG3136> *said<MG3004> to Him, “I know<MG3609a> that he will rise<MG450> in the resurrection<MG386> on the last<MG2078> day<MG2250>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> said<MG3004> to her, “I am<MG1510> the resurrection<MG386> and the life<MG2222>; the one who believes<MG4100> in Me will live<MG2198>, even<MG2579> if<MG2579> he dies<MG599>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>and everyone<MG3956> who lives<MG2198> and believes<MG4100> in Me will never<MG3756, 3361, 1519, 165> die<MG599>. Do you believe<MG4100> this<MG3778>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>She *said<MG3004> to Him, “Yes<MG3483a>, Lord<MG2962>; I have come to believe<MG4100> that You are the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>Christ<MG5547>, the Son<MG5207> of God<MG2316>, <i>and</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>He who comes<MG2064> into the world<MG2889>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>When she had said<MG3004> this<MG3778>, she left<MG565> and called<MG5455> Mary<MG3137> her sister<MG79>, saying<MG3004> secretly<MG2977>, “The Teacher<MG1320> is here<MG3918b> and is calling<MG5455> for you.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>And when<MG5613> she heard<MG191> <i>this,</i> she *got<MG1453> up<MG1453> quickly<MG5035> and came<MG2064> to Him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>Now<MG1161> Jesus<MG2424> had not yet<MG3768> come<MG2064> into the village<MG2968>, but was still<MG2089> at the place<MG5117> where<MG3699> Martha<MG3136> met<MG5221> Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>Then<MG3767> the Jews<MG2453> who were with her in the house<MG3614> and were consoling<MG3888> her, when they saw<MG3708> that Mary<MG3137> had gotten<MG450> up<MG450> quickly<MG5030> and left<MG1831>, they followed<MG190> her, thinking<MG1380> that she was going<MG5217> to the tomb<MG3419> to weep<MG2799> there<MG1563>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>So<MG3767> when<MG5613> Mary<MG3137> came<MG2064> <i>to the place</i> where<MG3699> Jesus<MG2424> was, she saw<MG3708> Him and fell<MG4098> at His feet<MG4228>, saying<MG3004> to Him, “Lord<MG2962>, if<MG1487> You had been<MG1510> here<MG5602>, my brother<MG80> would not have died<MG599>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> when<MG5613> Jesus<MG2424> saw<MG3708> her weeping<MG2799>, and the Jews<MG2453> who came<MG4905> with her <i>also</i> weeping<MG2799>, He was deeply<MG1690> moved<MG1690> in spirit<MG4151> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>was troubled<MG5015>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>and He said<MG3004>, “Where<MG4226> have you laid<MG5087> him?” They *said<MG3004> to Him, “Lord<MG2962>, come<MG2064> and see<MG3708>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> wept<MG1145>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>So<MG3767> the Jews<MG2453> were saying<MG3004>, “See<MG2396> how<MG4459> He loved<MG5368> him!” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>But some<MG5100> of them said<MG3004>, “Could<MG1410> this<MG3778> man<MG3778>, who opened<MG455> the eyes<MG3788> of the man<MG5185> who<MG5185> was<MG5185> blind<MG5185>, not have<MG4160> also<MG2532> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>kept<MG4160> this<MG3778> man<MG3778> from dying<MG599>?” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>So<MG3767> Jesus<MG2424>, again<MG3825> being deeply<MG1690> moved<MG1690> within<MG1722, 1438>, *came<MG2064> to the tomb<MG3419>. Now<MG1161> it was a cave<MG4693>, and a stone<MG3037> was lying<MG1945> against<MG1909> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004>, “Remove<MG142> the stone<MG3037>.” Martha<MG3136>, the sister<MG79> of the deceased<MG5053>, *said<MG3004> to Him, “Lord<MG2962>, by<MG2235> this<MG2235> time<MG2235> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>there will be a stench<MG3605>, for he has been<MG1510> <i>dead</i> four<MG5066b> days<MG5066b>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to her, “Did I not say<MG3004> to you that if<MG1437> you believe<MG4100>, you will see<MG3708> the glory<MG1391> of God<MG2316>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>So<MG3767> they removed<MG142> the stone<MG3037>. And Jesus<MG2424> raised<MG142, 507> His eyes<MG3788>, and said<MG3004>, “Father<MG3962>, I thank<MG2168> You that You have heard<MG191> Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>But I knew<MG3609a> that You always<MG3842> hear<MG191> Me; nevertheless<MG235>, because<MG1223> of the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>people<MG3793> standing<MG4026> around<MG4026> I said<MG3004> <i>it,</i> so<MG2443> that<MG2443> they may believe<MG4100> that You sent<MG649> Me.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>And when He had said<MG3004> these<MG3778> things<MG3778>, He cried<MG2905> out<MG2905> with a loud<MG3173> voice<MG5456>, “Lazarus<MG2976>, come<MG1204> out<MG1854>!” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>Out<MG1831> came<MG1831> the man<MG2348> who had died<MG2348>, bound<MG1210> hand<MG5495> and foot<MG4228> with wrappings<MG2750>, and his face<MG3799> was wrapped<MG4019> around<MG4019> with a cloth<MG4676>. Jesus<MG2424> *said<MG3004> to them, “Unbind<MG3089> him, and let<MG863> him go<MG5217>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> many<MG4183> of the Jews<MG2453> who came<MG2064> to Mary<MG3137>, and saw<MG2300> what<MG3739> He had done<MG4160>, believed<MG4100> in Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span>But some<MG5100> of them went<MG565> to the Pharisees<MG5330> and told<MG3004> them the things which<MG3739> Jesus<MG2424> had done<MG4160>. <p class="hdg">Conspiracy to Kill Jesus</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/11-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> the chief<MG749> priests<MG749> and the Pharisees<MG5330> convened<MG4863> a council<MG4892> meeting<MG4892>, and they were saying<MG3004>, “What<MG5101> are we <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>doing<MG4160> in<MG3754> regard<MG3754> to<MG3754> the<MG3754> fact<MG3754> that<MG3754> this<MG3778> man<MG444> is performing<MG4160> many<MG4183> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>signs<MG4592>?
