Forgive, and you shall be for given. <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/6-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your lap. For with the same measure with which you measure, it shall be measured to you in return.<CM><p> <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/6-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>And he spoke a parable to them: Can the blind lead the blind? Will not both fall into the pit? <A name="41"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/6-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>The disciple is not above his teacher; but every accomplished disciple shall be as his teacher.<CM> <A name="42"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/6-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>And why do you look at the splinter that is in your brother's eye, but perceive not the beam that is in your own eye? <A name="43"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/6-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>Or, how can you say to your brother: Brother, let me pull out the splinter that is in your eye, when you yourself see not the beam that is in your own eye? Hypocrite, first pull the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to pull out the splinter that is in your brother's eye.<p> <A name="44"></a><p class="hdg">A Tree and Its Fruit<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/7.htm#15">Matthew 7:15–23</a>; <a href ="../matthew/12.htm#33">Matthew 12:33–37</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/6-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>For a good tree does not produce unsound fruit; nor does an unsound tree produce good fruit. <A name="45"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/6-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>For every tree is known by its own fruit.
