We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

This statement serves as a public statement of the accessibility of Pope Tech websites and interfaces but it also functions as an internal accessibility policy for accessibility practices at Pope Tech.

Measures to support accessibility

Pope Tech takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our website and applications:

Include accessibility as part of our mission statement. Improving and helping others improve web accessibility is our mission.

Include accessibility throughout our internal policies.

Every Pope Tech employee, regardless of their role, attends accessibility training from WebAIM along with internal training as part of their onboarding.

Assign clear accessibility targets and responsibilities for each role at Pope Tech. Accessibility is part of performance reviews.

Accessibility is part of our quality assurance process for each update.

All digital content is created with accessibility in mind. WAVE, Pope Tech and manual testing are used as appropriate as part of our processes for creating and editing content and interfaces.

As part of our accessibility efforts we use Pope Tech to run weekly scans on all of our public web pages and pages inside of the Pope Tech application itself. Our standard is 0 detectable errors and a manual review of all Alerts. Any regressions are prioritized and quickly remediated.

Internal manual audits using keyboard and screen reader testing are performed at least quarterly.

External audits are performed by WebAIM at least annually.

A monthly accessibility cadence includes reviewing and updating this statement and all open accessibility tickets and publishing these publicly. Published tickets match our internal accessibility tickets project.

3rd party interfaces and components used as part of the Pope Tech experience are reviewed for accessibility as part of discovery before implementation.

HTML web pages are always used over non-html documents unless there is a clear business requirement. Non-html documents are reviewed for accessibility at least annually.

All videos are hosted on YouTube with human captioning and transcript. Audio descriptions are considered as needed. Videos are reviewed at least annually.

Support Documentation is reviewed quarterly for accuracy and usability.

Conformance Goal

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

Although we specifically strive to exceed WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance, conformance or compliance isn't our goal. Our philosophy is accessibility over compliance. We welcome all feedback.

Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility and usability of Pope Tech. Please let us know if you encounter accessibility barriers on Pope Tech:

E-mail: accessibility@pope.tech

Twitter: @PopeTechA11y

Website contact form

We strive to respond to feedback within 1 business day.

Compatibility with browsers and assistive technology

Pope Tech is designed to be compatible with common screen readers and all the latest 2 versions of all modern browsers such as:

Google Chrome

Firefox

Safari

Microsoft Edge

Android Browser

Pope Tech is not compatible with:

Internet Explorer

Limitations and alternatives

Accessibility is a process that you can never check off. We believe web accessibility is inherently public information and publish all open accessibility issues publicly on our website. These might be reported by users, discovered by internal or external audits. We value transparency. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed in our open accessibility tickets page or have any feedback, positive or negative, about the accessibility of any Pope Tech website or interface.

View open accessibility tickets.

This statement was created with the help of the W3C Accessibility Statement Generator Tool and adapted to fit Pope Tech.
