Jesus responded; <FR>You know neither me nor my Father; if you knew me, you would also know my Father.<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>He spoke these words in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no one arrested Him; because His hour had not yet come.<p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Then He again said to them, <FR>I go away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin: whither I go you are not able to come.<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Then the Jews were saying, Whether will He kill Himself, because He says, <FR>Whither I go away, you are not able to come?<Fr> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And He said to them, <FR>You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world.<Fr> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span><FR>Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you may not believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins.<Fr> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Then they said to Him, Who art thou? And Jesus said to them, <FR>Even that which I also speak to you from the beginning.<Fr> <A name="27"></a><span class="red"><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span><FR>I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you; but the One having sent me is true; those things which I heard with Him, these I speak to the world.<Fr> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>They did not know that He spoke to them concerning the Father. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Then Jesus said, <FR>When you may lift up the Son of man, then you shall know that I am He, and I do nothing of myself, but as the Father has taught me, I speak the same things.<Fr> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span><FR>Truly the One having sent me is with me; He has not left me alone; because I always do those things which are pleasing to Him.<Fr> <A name="31"></a><p class="hdg">The Truth Will Set You Free<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../2_john/1.htm#4">2 John 1:4–6</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>He speaking these things, many believed on Him.<p> <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>Then Jesus said to the Jews, who believed on Him, <FR>If you may abide in my word, you are truly my disciples;<Fr> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span><FR>and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.<Fr> <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>They responded to Him, we are the seed of Abraham, and have never been in bondage to any one: How do You say, that you shall be free?<p> <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>Jesus responded to them, <FR>Truly, truly, I say unto you, That every one doing sin is the slave of sin.<Fr> <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span><FR>But the slave abides not in the house forever; the Son abides forever.<Fr> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span><FR>If therefore the Son may make you free, you shall be free indeed.<Fr> <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span><FR>I know ye are the seed of Abraham; but you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.<Fr> <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span><FR>Whatsoever I have seen with the Father I speak: you therefore are doing the things which you heard with your father.<Fr><p> <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>They responded and said to Him, Abraham is our Father. Jesus says to them, <FR>If you were the children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham.<Fr> <A name="41"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span><FR>But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard with God: Abraham did not this.<Fr> <A name="42"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span><FR>You are doing the works of your father.<Fr> They said to Him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, God.<p> <A name="43"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>Jesus said to them; <FR>If God were your Father, you would love me: for I came out from God, and I return; for I have not spoken from myself, but He sent me.<Fr> <A name="44"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span><FR>Wherefore do you not understand my speech? Because you are not able to hear my word.<Fr> <A name="45"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span><FR>You are of your father the devil, and you wish to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stood not in the truth, because there was no truth in him. When he may speak a lie, he speaks of his own: because he is a liar, and the father of the same.<Fr> <A name="46"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span><FR>And because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.<Fr> <A name="47"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span><FR>Which one of you convicts me concerning sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?<Fr> <A name="48"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span><FR>The one being of God hears the words of God: on account of this you do not hear, because you are not of God.<Fr><p> <A name="49"></a><p class="hdg">Before Abraham Was Born, I Am<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-48.htm"><b>48</b></a></span>The Jews responded and said to Him, Do we not truly say that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon? <A name="50"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-49.htm"><b>49</b></a></span>Jesus responded, <FR>I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.<Fr> <A name="51"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-50.htm"><b>50</b></a></span><FR>But I do not seek my own glory: there is One seeking and judging.<Fr> <A name="52"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-51.htm"><b>51</b></a></span><FR>Truly, truly, I say unto you, if any one may keep my word, he may never see death.<Fr> <A name="53"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-52.htm"><b>52</b></a></span>The Jews said to Him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham and the prophets are dead; and thou sayest, <FR>If any one may keep my word, he may never taste death.<Fr> <A name="54"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-53.htm"><b>53</b></a></span>Whether art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died: whom do you make yourself? <A name="55"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-54.htm"><b>54</b></a></span>Jesus responded, <FR>If I may glorify myself, my glory is nothing: my Father is the one glorifying me; whom you say, that, He is our God;<Fr> <A name="56"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/8-55.htm"><b>55</b></a></span><FR>indeed you do not know Him: but I know Him.
