You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change. So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me."</span></td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><span class="btext2">if you do not make the dream known to me, there is but one sentence for you. You have agreed to speak lying and corrupt words before me till the times change. No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><span class="btext2">The Chaldeans answered the king and said, &#8220;There is not a man on earth who can meet the king&#8217;s demand, for no great and powerful king has asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><span class="btext3">The Chaldeans answered the king and said, "There is not a man on earth who could declare the matter for the king, inasmuch as no great king or ruler has ever asked anything like this of any magician, conjurer or Chaldean.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><span class="btext4">The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore <i>there is</i> no king, lord, nor ruler, <i>that</i> asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><span class="btext5">The Chaldeans answered the king, "No one on earth can make known what the king requests. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans."</span></td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><span class="btext2">The thing that the king asks is difficult, and no one can show it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.&#8221;</span></td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><span class="btext3">"Moreover, the thing which the king demands is difficult, and there is no one else who could declare it to the king except gods, whose dwelling place is not with mortal flesh."</span></td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><span class="btext4">And <i>it is</i> a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.</span></td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><span class="btext5">What the king is asking is so difficult that no one can make it known to him except the gods, whose dwelling is not with mortals."</span></td></tr></table> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center"><tr><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><span class="btext1">This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><span class="btext2">Because of this the king was angry and very furious, and commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><span class="btext3">Because of this the king became indignant and very furious and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><span class="btext4">For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise <i>men</i> of Babylon.</span></td><td width="20%" class="even" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><span class="btext5">Because of this, the king became violently angry and gave orders to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. </span></td></tr></table> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center"><tr><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><span class="btext1">So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death.</span></td><td width="20%" class="odd" valign="top"><span class="reftext"><a href="/daniel/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><span class="btext2">So the decree went out, and the wise men were about to be killed;
