dwelling in the precipice of the mountain, and he took for himself a woman, a concubine, from Bayth Lekhem of Yehuda <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>And his concubine committed fornication against him, and she arose and she went from his presence to the house of her father to Bayth Lekhem of Yehuda, and she was there four months of days <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And her husband arose and he went on after her to speak with his heart and to bring her and his Boy Servant and two donkeys with him, and she brought him into the house of her father, and the father of the girl saw him and he rejoiced to meet him <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And the father in law the father of the girl kept him, and he stayed with him three days, and they ate and they drank and they lodged there <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And on the fourth day he arose at dawn to go, and the father of the girl said to his son in law: “Sustain your heart with a piece of bread, and then you will rise and you will go” <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And they stayed and they both ate together and they drank, and the father of the girl said to his son in law: “If you please, stay the night and it shall be good for you!” <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And the man arose to go, and his father in law urged him, and he spent the night with him there <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And he arose at dawn on the fifth day to go, and the father of the girl said: “Sustain your heart and travel until the day rises, and they two ate and drank <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And the man stood to go, he and his concubine and his boy Servant, and his father in law the father of the girl said to him: “Behold, the day has gone down. Stay here and it shall be well with you, and arise tomorrow and go to your tent”<p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And the man did not choose to lodge, and he arose and he went on and he arrived next to Yebus, which is Jerusalem, and two donkeys with him while carrying cargo, and his concubine with him <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>They were on the side of Yebus and the day had well gone down, and the young man said to his Master: “Come, let us turn to this city Yebus, and let us spend the night in it” <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And his Master said to him: “We will not turn aside to a foreign city that is not one of the household of Israel, but we will pass unto Gabah” <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And his Master said to him, “Come, we will come to another of the regions and we will spend the night in Gabah or in Ramtha” <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And they passed on and they went, and the sun set on them on the side of Gabah of Benyamin <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And they turned aside there to lodge and they entered Gabah and they stayed in the street of the city, and there was no man who brought them to a house to stay the night<p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And behold, an old man came from his work from the field in the evening, and the man was from the Mountain of Aphreim, and was dwelling in Gabah of Benyamin, and the people of the place, the children of Benjamin, their works were very evil <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And the man old lifted his eyes and he saw the traveler in the street of the city, and the old man said to him: “Where are you going and from where have you come?” <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>He said to him: “We are traveling from Bayth Lekhem of Yehuda unto the borders of the Mountain, and from there I am. And I went unto Bayth Lekhem of Yehuda, and I am going to the house of LORD JEHOVAH, and there is no man who brings us to a house <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>Also our donkeys have straw and fodder, and there is bread and wine for me and for your Maidservant and the young man your Servant, and we lack nothing” <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>The old man said to him: “Peace be to you! Anything that is lacking concerning you I shall give, only you will not lodge in the street” <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And he brought him to his house and he gave to his donkeys, and they washed their feet and they ate and they drank<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And that pleased their hearts, and behold the men of the city, evil men, surrounded the house and they were fighting at the door, and they were saying to the old man, the Master of the house: “Bring out to us the man who entered your house and we will know him!” <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And the old man, the Master of the house, went out to them and said to them: “No my brothers! You shall not do evil in this way, for this man has entered my house! You will not commit this disgrace! <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>Behold, my virgin daughter and his concubine! I shall bring them out and you may abuse them and do whatever is pleasing in your eyes, and against this man you will not commit this abuse!” <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And those men were not willing to listen to him, and the man took his concubine and brought her out to them outside, and they raped her and they abused her all night until the morning, and they left her when the dawn came up <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And the woman came at the time of dawn, and she fell at the door of the man where her Master was until dawn<p> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And her Master arose at dawn and he opened the door of the house and he went out to go his way, and he saw his Concubine cast at the door of the house and her hand on the door <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/judges/19-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And he said to her: “Get up, let us go!”, and she did not answer him.
