According to Bhagawat Geeta, man is a creature who thinks. Manushaya (man) is a being with manas (mind); and if his thinking power is not attained it became no better than animals. Therefore, we all are in journey of shaping our own destiny in order to animate the growth, in which intellect is a great indeed. In earlier days an optimal development of children was almost taken for granted in the family and the community in which they were born. With the expansion of school in the community it has been considered as a responsibility of the state to educate the child. Our country is predominantly divided into diverse regions with its unique features and problems. Still, there is big proportion of people living in absolute poverty, which is more than being poor. On the other hand, growth as symbolized by an increase in income had lost its glory for \u0026amp;quot; capability improvement \u0026amp;quot;. The lack of effective voice for poor and institutional and political tendencies to tilt the benefits of reform programs in favor of those better able to protect their benefits are the some ontological fact of the policy-transformation. Tribal children, similar to several other marginalized groups of children in India, are spellbound in an intergenerational vicious cycle of poverty, literacy and deprivation. This is evident in extremely poor adult literacy rates which are produced as low education levels among the children from ST communities. The growth of official education amongst the tribal populations of the country may be gauge from the acts yield by the census data. The census figure of 1931 disclosed that only 0.7 percent of the tribal people were literate. This percentage rose to 32.60 percent in 1991 against 52.2 percent for the entire country. As against the national average of 52.21 percent, the literacy rate of ST is terribly low at round 29.60 percent. This shows a big gap in educational opportunities among the tribal and non-tribal communities.","author":[{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"Person","name":"aparna Traditionally referred to as adivasis, vanbasis, tribes, or tribals; STs constitute about 8% of the Indian population. There are around 573 Scheduled Tribes living in different parts of the country, having their own languages different from the one mostly spoken in the State where they live. There are more than 270 such languages in India. Accordingly to the 2001 census, the tribal population in India is about 67.8 million. The largest number of tribals is in the undivided Madhya Pradesh (16.40 million), followed by Orissa (7 million) and Bihar (6.6 million). However, the largest proportion of tribals in total population is in Mizoram (95%), followed by Lakshadweep (93%), Nagaland (88%), Meghalaya (86%), and Arunachal Pradesh (64%). Nine States – Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal; together account for more than four-fifth of the tribal population in India. The term tribe or tribal is not defined anywhere in the Constitution although according to Article 342, ST represents the tribe or tribal communities that are notified by the President. Tribes are not part of the traditional Hindu caste structure. STs in India are more similar to the “indigenous” or “native people” in other parts of the world. Realizing that Scheduled Tribes are one of the most deprived and marginalized groups with respect to education, a host of programs and measures were initiated during the Independence. Elementary education is a priority area in the Tribal sub-plans from the 5th Five Year Plan. Education of ST children is considered important, not only because of the Constitutional obligation but also as a crucial input for the total development of tribal communities. The present paper made an attempt to analyze the problems in the field of Tribal children education and suggest measures for the development of education among the Tribals in Khammam District of Andhra Pradesh state in India. The study reveals that People of the remote area are superstitious and addicted to blind beliefs. Hence, they do not understand the value of education. Literacy is an important indicator of development among ethnic communities. According to Census, literacy is defined to be the ability to read and write a simple sentence in one’s own language understanding it; it is in this context that education has to be viewed from a modern perspective. Educational backwardness is a distinct gender dimension (Rani et. al. 2011). The male-female gap in literacy and educational attainment among the Scheduled Tribes is significant. Because education those asset which acts as a crucial and remedial role in balancing and managing the socio-economic framework of the society. In this sense, tribal people are very important part of our society which needs special emphasis and concentration by the government because they are educationally backward. Social development of human being is related to the growth and development of society. Education and health are two important component of social development. Both lead to the development of human being. Between these, education is a crucial element of development. Key to the socio-economic development of any society is education so it is also important for the development of tribal people. Therefore it is necessary to break the grip of illiteracy. Grip of illiteracy capture the people into everlasting ignorance and superstition. Because of this reason, they have remained isolated from the mainstream till now. Education generates inherent capacity of our mind to “renew and refresh” ourselves. The state West Bengal has 529695 numbers of Tribal population that is 5.7% of the state population, but the utmost part of this Tribal population is far behind from modernization, technological advancement, enlighten of education and improvement of societal structure. Although as per constitutional provision our country has been fostering for betterment of the Tribal community since the independence, till now each and every district of West Bengal except Kolkata has been revealing low rate of tribal literacy, low rate of tribal female literacy, high level of literacy gap among tribal male and female, lack of awareness about education in tribal community in relation to all social groups population. There is a positive Tribal literacy is shown in Kolkata as a cause of educational and employment migration. The paper discusses the present scenario of educational level of Bhumij Tribal community as well as the role of government institutions and their programmes and the link between education and development. Various programmes and schemes have been initiated but very few of them have reached the tribal children and benefited them. Many of the programmes did not benefit the tribal community because the programmes were not contextualized and localized considering regional, geographical and physical differences and barriers. Other reasons of not getting the benefits of the programs by the tribals are lack of political will, corruption, and lesser attention on development of tribal areas. The paper highlights the need for special focus on tribal education, which is includes context specific traditional and innovative interventions.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"Problems of Tribal Education in India: A Study from a Village of Jharkhand, West Bengal","attachmentId":58336762,"attachmentType":"pdf","work_url":"https://www.academia.edu/38290078/Problems_of_Tribal_Education_in_India_A_Study_from_a_Village_of_Jharkhand_West_Bengal","alternativeTracking":true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/38290078/Problems_of_Tribal_Education_in_India_A_Study_from_a_Village_of_Jharkhand_West_Bengal"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div><div class="ds-related-work--container js-wsj-grid-card" data-collection-position="9" data-entity-id="110335470" data-sort-order="default"><a class="ds-related-work--title js-wsj-grid-card-title ds2-5-body-md ds2-5-body-link" href="https://www.academia.edu/110335470/Educational_Status_of_Tribals_of_Jammu_and_amp_Kashmir_A_Case_of_Gujjars_and_Bakarwals">Educational Status of Tribals of Jammu &amp; Kashmir: A Case of Gujjars and Bakarwals</a><div class="ds-related-work--metadata"><a class="js-wsj-grid-card-author ds2-5-body-sm ds2-5-body-link" data-author-id="6070711" href="https://independent.academia.edu/umersofi">umer sofi</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--metadata ds2-5-body-xs">International journal of social sciences, 2014</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"Educational Status of Tribals of Jammu \u0026amp; Kashmir: A Case of Gujjars and Bakarwals","attachmentId":108184255,"attachmentType":"pdf","work_url":"https://www.academia.edu/110335470/Educational_Status_of_Tribals_of_Jammu_and_amp_Kashmir_A_Case_of_Gujjars_and_Bakarwals","alternativeTracking":true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/110335470/Educational_Status_of_Tribals_of_Jammu_and_amp_Kashmir_A_Case_of_Gujjars_and_Bakarwals"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div></div></div><div class="ds-sticky-ctas--wrapper js-loswp-sticky-ctas hidden"><div class="ds-sticky-ctas--grid-container"><div class="ds-sticky-ctas--container"><button class="ds2-5-button js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"continue-reading-button--sticky-ctas","attachmentId":53685421,"attachmentType":"doc","workUrl":null}">See full PDF</button><button class="ds2-5-button ds2-5-button--secondary js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"download-pdf-button--sticky-ctas","attachmentId":53685421,"attachmentType":"doc","workUrl":null}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 20px" translate="no">download</span>Download PDF</button></div></div></div><div class="ds-below-fold--grid-container"><div class="ds-work--container js-loswp-embedded-document"><div class="attachment_preview" data-attachment="Attachment_53685421" style="display: none"><div class="js-scribd-document-container"><div class="scribd--document-loading js-scribd-document-loader" style="display: block;"><img alt="Loading..." src="//a.academia-assets.com/images/loaders/paper-load.gif" /><p>Loading Preview</p></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="scribd--no-preview-alert js-preview-unavailable"><p>Sorry, preview is currently unavailable.
