Survey on information literacy competencies of library science students at the Department was realized by the online questionnaire for self-assessment that was developed on the basis of Permutation Model Components with the purpose to obtain insight in student's perception of their information literacy competencies, to detect to what degree students improve their information literacy competencies and confidence during studies and what possible difficulties they face in this process. This is particularly important considering that there is no separate information literacy course adopted in Departments curricula but the information literacy related content is offered and taught in different courses. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences library started with course-related IL instruction in the 2010/11 academic year. The Faculty of Law Library introduced a pilot project of course-related information literacy instruction in March 2013. The essential premise of this paper lies with two convictions of the authors: that, on the one hand, libraries are a natural environment for the development of information literacy, and on the other, information literacy must contribute to the citizens’ quality of living. The general objectives is to know effectiveness and efficient of information/ICT literacy among academic librarians in the electronic age. To carry out effective work, research questions were raised, review of related literature that discussed various area of literacy was also reviewed. The descriptive survey research design method was used, and Questionnaire and oral interview were instruments used to collect data. The instrument was analyzed with simple percent counting table. Population of this study are all the librarians in Madonna University library, Okija. They consist of eleven (11) librarians and all were used in this study. From the study it was found out that the librarians didn't have information/ICT literacy/skills because of major challenges facing them such funds, time, environment of the system. Another finding shows that a cause of failure in USE of ENGLISH and LIBRARY COURSE among students is lukewarm attitude of librarians; they are not ready to assist them for library and information services in some cases. Other findings showed that those librarians had very low literacy levels/skills. The authors present results of the pilot project carried out with the Education and Teacher Training Agency in advocating and developing understanding of information literacy within the Croatian school environment. The workshop linked educational sessions with the observations and suggestions of participants in order to form a platform for creating a national information literacy agenda for school communities.
