It would not be until 1726, when a female editor, Luisa Bergalli, would return to these Italian women writers and published her Componimenti Poetici delle più illustri rimatrici di ogni secolo. She was the first woman to publish an anthology of female artists, which this time consisted of more than two hundred and fifty poets. Bergalli\u0026amp;#39;s endeavor to bring to light the enormous contribution of women writers to the literary production in Italian is unprecedented. The essay explores Bergalli’s enterprise by focusing on how she organized and framed her work as the anthology’s editor interlacing it with her literary self-affirmation.","author":[{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"Person","name":"Giulia Being the first woman poet included in a fundamental anthological work such as Poeti Italiani del Novecento by Pier Vincenzo Mengaldo (1978), Amelia Rosselli had the opportunity to be included in the Italian literary canon. Nevertheless, such inclusion ended up being a sort of exclusion, being Rosselli the only woman poet included in Mengaldo’s anthology. Since then, the treatment of female voices has elicited a tendency in literary criticism which tends to read Italian women’s poetry through two main lenses: the former deals with the notion of the “otherness” of women’s poetry, while the latter is related to the adaptation of the category of écriture feminine to the Italian case. This paper is divided into two sections. In the first part, I analyse some of the major anthologies – published since the Seventies - tracing back the numerical presence of women poets in these anthologies. In the second section, I focus on the semantics used by editors of anthologies in order to label them.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"A Poetics of Femininity? We are here reunited in the inspiring land of knowledge and civilisation, where a woman managed to ascend the Olympus of writers, though she is still an exception in the entire world. I would like to dedicate my intervention to all women who, along the centuries, tried to free themselves from prejudices and stereotypes in order to achieve the status of writers. The way to become women writers it is still a steep street, one can see the top of it far away in the horizon, but the same prejudices and worse stereotypes hinder the way. Writing is a mangnifying glass that gives the possibility of communicating the "self" up to different degrees of truth. Writing is also a shelter where the real world can be replaced by pure beauty, and to escape from the illusion-sometimes-is not advisable. This is the case of the Argentinian Alfonsina Storni and the Italian Antonia Pozzi, two poetesses who committed suicide in 1938.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"Female literature: a shelter from life and a \"desengaño\".
