they are a gift given to him from within the sons of Israel. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And command Ahron and his sons and they shall keep their Priesthood, and the foreigner who comes near to them will be killed.”<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH spoke with Moshe and said to him: <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>“Behold, I have taken the Levites from within the children of Israel in place of every firstborn that opens every womb from the children of Israel, that the Levites will be mine. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>Because every firstborn is mine; in the day that I killed every firstborn that was in the land of Egypt, I hallowed every firstborn of the children of Israel to me from man and unto animal; they shall be mine; I AM LORD JEHOVAH.”<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH spoke with Moshe in the wilderness of Sinai and said to him, <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>“Count the sons of Levi for the house of their fathers by their families; you shall count them, every male from a son of a month and above.” <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And Moshe numbered them by the word of the mouth of LORD JEHOVAH as he was commanded. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershun and Qahath and Merari. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And these are the names of the sons of Gershun for their tribes: Lebni and Shimei. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And the sons of Qahath for their tribes: Amram and Yatzhar and Khebron and Uziel. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And the sons of Merari for their tribes: Makhli and Mushi; these are the families of Levi according to the house of their fathers.<p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>For Gershun: the family of the Libnites and the family of the Shimites, these are the families of Gershun. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And their number in the number of every male from a son of a month and above: seven thousand and five hundred. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>The family of Gershun shall be camping behind the Tabernacle from the West. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And the Ruler of the house of the fathers of Gershun: Eliasaph son of Eliab.<p> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And the keeping of the sons of Gershun in the Time Tabernacle, the Tabernacle and the curtain, the door and its veil and the veil of the door of the courtyard that is next to the Time Tabernacle. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And the curtain rods of the courtyard and the veil of the door of the courtyard that is next to the Tabernacle and next to the altar as a circle, and its cords and all its works.<p> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And Qahath’s family of Amram and the family of the Yatzharites and the family of Khebrun and the family of Uziel; they shall be camping on the side of the Tabernacle from the North. <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>And authority of the keeping of the sons of Merari: the boards of the Tabernacle and its bars and its posts and its sockets and all its implements and all its service. <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-37.htm#aramaic"><b>37</b></a></span>And the pillars of the courtyard surrounding and their cords and their sockets and their curtain rods.<p> <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-38.htm#aramaic"><b>38</b></a></span>And they who camp before the Tabernacle from the East before the Time Tent from the East: Moshe and Ahron and his sons who keep the guard of Holiness by the guard of the children of Israel, and a stranger approaching will be killed. <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-39.htm#aramaic"><b>39</b></a></span>All of the number of Levi whom Moshe numbered by the word of the mouth of LORD JEHOVAH, every male from a son of a month and above: twenty and two thousand.<p> <A name="41"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-40.htm#aramaic"><b>40</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH spoke with Moshe and said to him: “Number every firstborn male of the children of Israel from a son of a month and above and take the number of their names. <A name="42"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-41.htm#aramaic"><b>41</b></a></span>And you shall bring the Levites to me (I AM LORD JEHOVAH), in the place of all of the firstborn ones of the children of Israel, and the domestic animals of Levi in the place of all firstborn ones of the domestic animals of the children of Israel.” <A name="43"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-42.htm#aramaic"><b>42</b></a></span>And Moshe numbered all of the firstborn of the children of Israel according to what LORD JEHOVAH commanded him. <A name="44"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-43.htm#aramaic"><b>43</b></a></span>And all firstborn males by the number of the names of a son of a month and above, the number of them was twenty and two thousand and two hundred and seventy and three.<p> <A name="45"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-44.htm#aramaic"><b>44</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH spoke with Moshe and said to him: <A name="46"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-45.htm#aramaic"><b>45</b></a></span>“Bring the Levites in the place of every firstborn of the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites in the place of their cattle, and the Levites shall be mine; I AM LORD JEHOVAH. <A name="47"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-46.htm#aramaic"><b>46</b></a></span>And the redemption of the two hundred and seventy and three more than the Levites, the firstborn of the children Israel: <A name="48"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/3-47.htm#aramaic"><b>47</b></a></span>Take five shekels for a head in the shekel of Holiness;
