These dramatic and sudden changes in the education system may affect the students and their inclination towards online classrooms. Thus, this study aimed to investigate students' attitudes towards using online learning and the challenges facing them during the coronavirus epidemic in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, it aimed to explore the gender differences regarding students' ICT competence and their attitudes towards using online learning. One thousand three hundred eighty-seven students (616 females and 771 males) from different school level (elementary to postgraduate) participated in the current study. The researchers employed two data collection instruments (questionnaire and semi-structured interviews) during this study. However, this paper only focused on the quantitative results. The outcomes of this study indicated that the participants showed high positive attitudes towards using online learning during the Covid19 period. The top-highest difficulties that faced students during online learning were the weakness of the internet connection, unavailability of good quality devices, unavailability of the internet connection for some students, and technical problems. Considering that the impact of the coronavirus on education was abrupt, there was no contingency plan to mitigate the effect other than to shift to remote learning. The research addresses the question whether online/distance learning classes were effective. To deal with the research questions, the authors elicited teachers' and students' perceptions of regarding the challenges they faced amidst COVID-19 in learning via virtual mode-the only alternative e-learning strategy available at the time of social distancing. Hence it is important to mention that King Abdulaziz University (KAU) has been using elearning/blended learning for more than a decade under the umbrella of the deanship of distance learning of KAU, however, in a different scenario. In this paper, we examine the experiences and attitudes of students during the COVID-19 pandemic in regards to online education, focusing on Al-Balqa Applied University and Jerash University. An online questionnaire was administered to 200 students from 2 different universities who took different online courses through Al-Balqa Applied University and Jerash University. The study found that students from Al-Balqa Applied University and Jerash University face similar challenges in e-learning. This study uses a survey method. The research sample is the students of the Faculty of Letters. The data collection technique used in this study is Google form questionnaire and analyzed by using quantitative descriptive statistics. The results show that the types of problems experienced by students while participating in online learning are generally caused by two factors, namely internal factors: unable to focus on attending lectures, problem on internet network, lack of cost to buy internet quota, and external factors: class schedules change frequently, the use of less effective learning media, redundant assignments. We are mainly interested in students&#39; attitudes on online learning and its effect on their knowledge and future learning. For this, we have performed a survey composed of 28 questions answered by 1506 high-school students, of which 67.5 % study in public schools. Most students, 87.7 % of them prefer traditional learning, i.e., being in the classroom, while only 6.6 % seem to prefer more online learning. 79.4 % of the students have answered that they had the entire necessary appliance for online learning, but only 9.3 % of the total students admitted that they never had technical problems during online learning/teaching, while most of them usually had.
