for his life is in him. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Then he went up again, and having broken bread and eaten, and conversed <i>with them</i> a considerable time, <i>even</i> till break of day, he departed. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And they brought <i>in</i> the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.<p> <A name="14"></a><p class="hdg">From Troas to Miletus<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>But we went before to the ship, and sailed to Assos, being there to take in Paul: for so he had appointed, designing himself to go on foot. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And as soon as he joined us at Assos, we took him in and came to Mitylene. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And sailing from thence we came the next <i>day</i> over against Chios; and the <i>day</i> following we arrived at Samos, and stopping at Trogyllium, we came the <i>day</i> after to Miletus. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, that he might not spend time in Asia: for he endeavoured, if it were possible, to be at Jerusalem <i>on</i> the day of Pentecost.<p> <A name="18"></a><p class="hdg">Paul’s Farewell to the Ephesians<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>But he sent from Miletus to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know in what manner I behaved among you all the time, from the first day that I came into Asia. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Serving the Lord with all humility, and many tears, and trials which befel me by the ambushes of the Jews. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><i>And</i> how I with-held nothing <i>that was</i> useful, but have declared <i>it</i> to you, and have taught you publicly and from house to house: <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>testifying both to the Jews and Greeks, repentance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And now, being constrained by the spirit, behold I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will befal me there: <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>save that the holy Spirit testifieth in every city, that bonds and afflictions await me. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>But none of these things move me, nor do I account my life dear, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.<p> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And now behold I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Wherefore I call you to witness this day, that I am clear from the blood of all <i>men.</i> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>For I have not failed to declare unto you all the counsel of God. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the holy Spirit hath appointed you bishops, to feed the church of God, which He purchased with his own blood. <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>For I know this, that after my departure grievous wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock. <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And from among yourselves shall men arise, speaking perverse <i>things</i> to draw away disciples after them. <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>Watch therefore, remembering that for the space of three years I ceased not <i>by</i> night and <i>by</i> day to warn every one with tears. <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>And now, <i>my</i> brethren, I recommend you to God, and to the word of his grace: who is able to edify <i>you,</i> and to give you an inheritance among all that are sanctified. <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>I have coveted no one's silver, or gold, or apparel: <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>and ye yourselves know that these hands have ministred to my necessities, and to those that were with me. <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>I have shewed you <i>in</i> all <i>things,</i> that <i>by</i> labouring thus ye ought to support the infirm; and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, who said, <FR>It is more blessed to give than to receive.<Fr><p> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>And when he had said these <i>things,</i> he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>And they were all much grieved, and fell on Paul's neck, and kissed him: sorrowing most <i>of all</i> at the word which he spake, <span class="reftext"><a href="/acts/20-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>that they should see his face no more.
