It also has a support role in general DNS operations - measuring the performance and load of key nameservers and publishing the results, providing analysis of DNS performance and post-mortems of attacks, and developing tools for DNS analysis.</p> <p>ISC was instrumental in setting up OARC and is a “Gold” member.</p> <p>Ray Bellis is on the Board of Directors. Petr 艩pa膷ek and Cathy Almond are on the Program Committee.</p> <h4 id="icann-rssac">ICANN RSSAC</h4> <p>Jeff Osborn is the chair of the <a href="https://www.icann.org/groups/rssac" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ICANN Root Server System Advisory Committee</a> (RSSAC), which is the formal body that advises the ICANN board on issues surrounding the DNS Root. It is made up of a representative of each of the Root Server Operators, the IANA Functions Operator, the Root Zone Administrator, the Root Zone Maintainer, and liaisons to SSAC, the IAB, and the ICANN Board. Each of these has an alternate, Rob Carolina is Jeff’s alternate from ISC.</p> <p>The above, along with Ray Bellis, Rob Carolina and Dan Mahoney are members of the <a href="https://www.icann.org/groups/rssac-caucus" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RSSAC Caucus</a>.</p> <p>ISC participates as the Root Server Operator for F-Root. RSSAC meets in person at ICANN meetings and frequently via teleconference.</p> <h4 id="ietf">IETF</h4> <p>ISC staff have contributed to IETF for years. We have written <a href="/rfcs">numerous IETF standards</a> and reviewed many others.</p> <h4 id="isoc">ISOC</h4> <p>The <a class="" href="http://www.internetsociety.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Internet Society</a> promotes the open development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world. Their work is mainly focused on influencing policy and education. ISOC is the umbrella organization for the <a href="http://www.ietf.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IETF</a>. ISC is a Bronze member of ISOC.</p> <p>Jeff Osborn represents ISC on the <a href="https://www.internetsociety.org/about-internet-society/organization-members/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Internet Society Organization Members Advisory Council</a>.</p> <h4 id="nanog">NANOG</h4> <p>NANOG is the <a href="https://www.nanog.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener">North American Network Operators Group</a>. NANOG holds two large networking conferences a year, plus a series of smaller, free training events. ISC is an occasional sponsor for these meetings. T Marc Jones is currently serving on NANOG’s DEI committee. Eddy Winstead has been a member of the NANOG Program Committee since 2018. Eddy was a frequent contributor to the “NANOG On the Road” training events. He currently serves as co-chair of the NANOG Outreach subcommittee (which has replaced the On the Road program), providing content and training for underserved North American regions/populations, fellow North American NOGs, and academia.</p> <h4 id="osi">OSI</h4> <p>ISC is a member of the <a href="https://opensource.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Open Source Initiative</a>. OSI is an industry group promoting open source and the interests of open source publishers.</p> <h4 id="ripe">RIPE</h4> <p><a href="https://www.ripe.net" target="_blank" rel="noopener">R茅seaux IP Europ茅ens</a> (RIPE, French for “European IP Networks”) is the RIR responsible for Europe and the Middle East. They also host a network operators meeting twice a year that brings together much of the European networking community.</p> <p>ISC staff participate in the RIPE working groups, meetings and mailing lists. We also participate in various RIPE projects, such as the ATLAS project, hosting equipment in Palo Alto. RIPE is an RSO peer, as they operate K-Root. Ond艡ej Sur媒 is currently one of the RIPE Arbiters.</p> <h4 id="uknof">UKNOF</h4> <p>UKNOF is the <a href="http://www.uknof.org.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UK Network Operators Forum</a>, originally the brainchild of Keith Mitchell. Its mission is “Sharing of Clue” between all those involved in (or loosely involved in) networking, peering, etc. It has several annual meetings for this purpose.</p> <p>ISC originally supported UKNOF by donating Keith’s time, and continues to do so by donating Cathy Almond’s time to serve on the <a href="https://wiki.uknof.org.uk/Programme_Committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Programme Committee</a> and Communication Committee, as well as via Ray Bellis’s seat on the <a href="https://wiki.uknof.org.uk/Advisory_Committee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Advisory Committee</a>.</p>
