The ultimate goal Locating the most appropriate place to achieve the fewest adverse effects to the environment and natural resources and economically the most cost and engineering perspective to have the best features. This study aims to locate a place for a landfill in the city of Razan. The ARC GIS 9.3 software and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) are used. The data layers such as elevation, slope, aspect, soil, climate, and vegetation were determined and collected. Then by using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), weight parameters were given. Then parameters were standard in the GIS environment. The layers obtained the value by multiplying the analytic hierarchy process and data layers together with (WLC) method, and this is the final layer that can be extracted. A suitable site should be located to dispose the municipal solid wastes hygienically (sanitary landfill), which is one of the fundamental subjects related to the environmental stability of the human settlements. The aim was to select a suitable waste disposal area using fuzzy-Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) models. Materials and Methods: To conduct this study, the information about elevation, slope, soil, drainage, vegetation, land use, population, and roads were produced and corrected in layers called shape files using the Geographic Information System (GIS) software. Finally, weights were applied in expert choice software by combining and overlapping information layers in GIS. Results: Based on the fuzzy-AHP model, 6 sites were identified as suitable areas for municipal waste disposal. Among the selected sites, one site was highly suitable, two were suitable, and three sites were moderately suitable. These areas with an area of 83.8 km 2 are located along the west part of the city adjacent to the Iraqi border. The unsuitable sites for municipal waste disposal were located in the eastern and northeastern areas. Conclusion: However, applying fuzzy-AHP model provides the necessary conditions for assessing effective relationships among discrete criteria. These types of waste present immediate or long-term risks to humans, animals, plants, or the environment and therefore require special handling for safe disposal. Landfills that can accept hazardous wastes are excavated or engineered sites where these special types of waste can be disposed of securely. Since landfills are permanent sites, special attention must be afforded in selecting the location. This paper investigated the use of the Boolean theory and Fuzzy logic in combination with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods by applying GIS and IDRISI software for the selection of a hazardous waste landfill site in the Iranian province of Hormozgan. The best location was determined via the Fuzzy and the Boolean methodologies. By collating the area selected for the hazardous waste landfill, this study found that Fuzzy logic with an AND operator had the best options for this purpose. In the end, the most suitable area for a hazardous waste landfill was about 1.6 km 2 which was obtained by employing Fuzzy in combination with AHP and by using an AND operator. Using productive resources and recycling them properly play an important and effective role in health and growth of a society. Waste, which because of its large amount and being returnable to the nature considered as a productive resource, is one of the most environmental problems. The present study tries to examine different factors effecting on landfill sites and the value of each while introduces usage of new algorithms to site selection and decision making practices. Optimal areas for landfill municipal wastes were selected by Boolean, fuzzy and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methods using the GIS techniques. Effective factors in landfill were generally classified into 4 main and 15 secondary criteria. Site selection in the area carried out by different algorithms, then final results were extracted and AHP method was selected with respect to field inspections, volume evaluation of place, and value of local land rather than Boolean and fuzzy ones. Site selection on the one hand and careful management of landfill operation on the other hand reduce the pollution caused by this natural cycle to the lowest possible level. The city has taken over air pollution, and it should now shift their focus on preparing to face the consequences of rapid urban growth. With unorganised solid waste management even after the absence of industries and mega industries, the city has a chance of collapsing in the period of potential future massive development movement. In order to combat this potential risk during that period, the landfill can be applicable in this developing city being the cheapest and straightforward method. Concerning this, this study attempts to identify suitable places to dispose of Metropolitan Solid Waste (MeSW). To select suitable sites for landfills, several critical factors, such as ge-ology/hydrogeology, land use, aspect, slope, and distance from the surface water body, settlements, roads, railway, and protected areas, were chosen according to standards and regulations. Weights of criteria are determined using the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (F-AHP), and then the weighted overlay analyses are used to nominate landfill sites. According to findings extracted, only about 6% area is highly suitable, and 22% of the area is moderately suitable for the landfill site development. Considering parameters such as minimum required area for landfills, buffer distance from residents, major roads and agricultural lands, political and management issues, and having discussions with key personnel, the study opts two potential sites for landfill development. In locating landfills, different criteria should be considered. In the present study, locating sites for solid landfill of two industrial suburbs in Natanz using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was investigated so as to present optimal solutions. Three places were investigated as suggested sites and seven factors like distance from the industrial suburb, ease of access, cost of site preparation, access to covering soil, wind direction, soil penetration, and groundwater direction were considered in the decision-making process. Super Decisions software was employed to create hierarchy network, compare criteria and sub criteria, and finally choose better choice. Based on the results, the third choice located in northeast of Shojaabad suburb and southeast of Ooreh suburb (almost between two suburbs) was selected as the best choice to bury the industrial wastes of these suburbs with score of 0.618 based on the software results.
