<a href ="../john/4.htm#43">John 4:43&#8211;54</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>When Jesus was entred into Capernaum, a centurion came and addressed himself to him, <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>saying, Lord, my servant lies sick at home grievously afflicted with the palsy, <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>and Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>the centurion answered, Lord, I am not worthy the honour of such a visit: do but give the word, and my servant is sav'd. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>for I am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command: I bid this man, go, and he's gone: another, come, and he's here: and to my servant, do this, and it is done. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>when Jesus heard it, he was surpriz'd, and said to his followers, I profess I have not met with such an instance of faith, no not in Israel. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>and I declare unto you, that many shall come from the east and from the west, and shall sit at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the heavenly kingdom. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>but the heirs to the kingdom shall be cast into the darkness without: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>and Jesus said to the centurion, go thy way, what you believed could be done, is effected for you, and his servant was healed in that very hour.<p> <A name="15"></a><p class="hdg">Jesus Heals at Peter&#8217;s House<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../mark/1.htm#29">Mark 1:29&#8211;34</a>; <a href ="../luke/8.htm#22">Luke 8:22&#8211;25</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>When he went aboard the vessel, his disciples followed him. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>and on a sudden so great a storm arose at sea, that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>and his disciples came and awaked him, saying, Lord, save us: we are sinking. <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>and he answer'd, why are you afraid, o incredulous people? then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/8-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>but the crew were all amaz'd;
