Oh that we were dead! <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>Why does LORD JEHOVAH bring us into this land that we shall fall by a sword, and our women and our little ones shall be prey? It was better for us when we were dwelling in Egypt!” <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And they said, each man to his brother, “Come, we shall make a Leader for us and we shall return to Egypt!”<p> <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And Moshe and Ahron fell on their faces before all the crowds of the assembly of the children of Israel. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And Yeshua, son of Nun, and Kalab, son of Yuphana, of the spies of the land, tore their garments. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And they said to all of the assembly of the children Israel: “The land in which we went through to explore is very good land. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>Truly, LORD JEHOVAH is pleased with us and brings us to this land and he gives to us this land that flows milk and honey. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>Only do not rebel against LORD JEHOVAH and do not be afraid of the people of the land, because they are our bread, for their strength itself has passed away from them and LORD JEHOVAH is with us; you shall not be afraid of them.” <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And all of the assembly said to stone them with stones, and the glory of LORD JEHOVAH was revealed in the cloud in the Time Tabernacle to the eyes of all the children of Israel.<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH said to Moshe: “How long do this people anger me, and how long do they not trust me in all the signs that I have done among them? <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>I shall strike them with a plague and I shall destroy them and I shall make you a people greater and mightier than they.”<p> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And Moshe said to LORD JEHOVAH: “The Egyptians will hear that you brought up this people by your power from among them. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And the inhabitants of this land who heard that you are LORD JEHOVAH within this people will say that you LORD JEHOVAH are seen, eye to eye, and your cloud stands above them, and in a pillar of cloud you have gone out before them by day and in a pillar of fire by night. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And whenever you have killed this people as one man, the nations that have heard your name will say: <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>‘Because LORD JEHOVAH was not able to bring in the people to the land that He swore to them, because of this, He slaughtered them in the wilderness.’ <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And now let your power be great LORD JEHOVAH, as you have spoken and you have said. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>LORD JEHOVAH, your Spirit is patient and your kindness abundant, and you forgive evil and sin and you do not justify to justify; you order the lovedebts of the fathers on the children and upon the children of the children, upon three and upon four generations. <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>Forgive now the evil of this people according to the multitude of your favors, and as you have forgiven them from Egypt and unto now.”<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH said to Moshe: “I have forgiven them, according to your word. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>However, I live, and all the earth is filled with the glory of LORD JEHOVAH. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And all the men who have seen my glory and the signs that I have done in Egypt and in the wilderness and have tested me, behold, ten times, and they have not listened to my voice. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>They shall not see the land about which I have sworn to their fathers: ‘No one provoking me shall see it.’ <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And my Servant Kalab, for the sake of my Spirit Who has been with Him, and he has been fully after me, I shall bring him into the land that he entered there and his seed shall inherit it. <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the mountains; tomorrow turn and move you to the wilderness to the way of the Sea of Reeds.”<p> <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH spoke with Moshe and with Ahron and said to them: <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>“How long is this evil assembly complaining before me? I have heard the complaining that the children of Israel were complaining before me. <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>Say to them: ‘I am living, says LORD JEHOVAH, but as you have said before me, so shall I do to you. <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>In this wilderness your corpses will fall and all your number and all your numbering from a son of twenty years and above, because you were complaining against me. <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>You shall not enter the land for which I raised my hands for you to dwell in, except only Kalab son of Yuphanah and Yeshua son of Nun. <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>And your little ones which you have said will be for prey, and your sons who have not known good and evil, today those shall enter the land and I shall bring them and they shall know the land which you rejected. <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>And your corpses, even yours, shall fall in this wilderness. <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-33.htm#aramaic"><b>33</b></a></span>And your sons shall be Shepherds in this wilderness forty years and they shall bear your whoredom until your corpses are gone in this wilderness. <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-34.htm#aramaic"><b>34</b></a></span>By the number of days that you spied out the land forty days, a day to a year, you shall receive your evil forty years, and you shall know that because you complained before me. <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-35.htm#aramaic"><b>35</b></a></span>I LORD JEHOVAH, I have said that thus I shall do to all of this evil assembly that are assembled before me in this wilderness; they shall be consumed and there they shall die.”<p> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/numbers/14-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>And men whom Moshe sent to spy the land returned and they made all of the assembly complain against him because they sent out an evil report about the land;
