In addition, in Hadfield steel, negative strain rate sensitivity is observed due to the DSA. In our study, we incorporated dynamic strain aging onto crystal plasticity computations to predict the local instabilities and corresponding negative strain rate sensitivity. Specifically, the material response of Hadfield steel was obtained from monotonic and strain-rate jump experiments under tensile loading. The strain rate range was adjusted from 10⁻⁴ to 10⁻¹s ⁻¹. The crystal plasticity modeling of the material response was carried out based on Voce-type hardening law and corresponding Voce hardening parameters were determined. The solute pinning effect of carbon atom was incorporated to crystal plasticity simulations at microscale level by computing the shear stress contribution imposed on an arrested dislocation by carbon atom. After crystal plasticity simulations with modifying hardening rule, which takes into account the contribution of DSA, it was seen that the model successfully predicts both the role of DSA and corresponding strain rate sensitivity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crystal%20plasticity" title="crystal plasticity">crystal plasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20strain%20aging" title=" dynamic strain aging"> dynamic strain aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hadfield%20steel" title=" Hadfield steel"> Hadfield steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=negative%20strain%20rate%20sensitivity" title=" negative strain rate sensitivity"> negative strain rate sensitivity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76918/a-crystal-plasticity-approach-to-model-dynamic-strain-aging" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76918.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">260</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6047</span> A Comparative Study of the Effects of Vibratory Stress Relief and Thermal Aging on the Residual Stress of Explosives Materials</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xuemei%20Yang">Xuemei Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xin%20Sun"> Xin Sun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng%20Fu"> Cheng Fu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qiong%20Lan"> Qiong Lan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chao%20Han"> Chao Han</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Residual stresses, which can be produced during the manufacturing process of plastic bonded explosive (PBX), play an important role in weapon system security and reliability. Residual stresses can and do change in service. This paper mainly studies the influence of vibratory stress relief (VSR) and thermal aging on residual stress of explosives. Firstly, the residual stress relaxation of PBX via different physical condition of VSR, such as vibration time, amplitude and dynamic strain, were studied by drill-hole technique. The result indicated that the vibratory amplitude, time and dynamic strain had a significant influence on the residual stress relief of PBX. The rate of residual stress relief of PBX increases first and then decreases with the increase of dynamic strain, amplitude and time, because the activation energy is too small to make the PBX yield plastic deformation at first. Then the dynamic strain, time and amplitude exceed a certain threshold, the residual stress changes show the same rule and decrease sharply, this sharply drop of residual stress relief rate may have been caused by over vibration. Meanwhile, the comparison between VSR and thermal aging was also studied. The conclusion is that the reduction ratio of residual stress after VSR process with applicable vibratory parameters could be equivalent to 73% of thermal aging with 7 days. In addition, the density attenuation rate, mechanical property, and dimensional stability with 3 months after VSR process was almost the same compared with thermal aging. However, compared with traditional thermal aging, VSR only takes a very short time, which greatly improves the efficiency of aging treatment for explosive materials. Therefore, the VSR could be a potential alternative technique in the industry of residual stress relaxation of PBX explosives. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=explosives" title="explosives">explosives</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residual%20stresses" title=" residual stresses"> residual stresses</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20aging" title=" thermal aging"> thermal aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibratory%20stress%20relief" title=" vibratory stress relief"> vibratory stress relief</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=VSR" title=" VSR"> VSR</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103733/a-comparative-study-of-the-effects-of-vibratory-stress-relief-and-thermal-aging-on-the-residual-stress-of-explosives-materials" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103733.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">160</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6046</span> Static Strain Aging in Ferritic and Austenitic Stainless Steels</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Songul%20Kurucay">Songul Kurucay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Acarer"> Mustafa Acarer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Harun%20Sepet"> Harun Sepet</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Static strain aging occurs when metallic materials are subjected to deformation and then heat treated at low temperatures such as 150-200oC. Static strain aging occurs in BCC metals and results and increasing in yield and tensile strength and decreasing ductility due to carbon and/or nitrogen atoms locking dislocations. The locked dislocations increase yield and tensile strength. In this study, static strain aging behaviors of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel were investigated. Ferritic stainless steel was prestained at %5, %10 and %15 and then aged at 150oC and 200oC for 30 minutes. Austenitic stainless steel was also prestained at %20 and %30 and then heat treated at 200, 400 and 600oC for 30 minutes. After the heat treatment, the tensile test was performed to determine the effect of prestain and heat treatment on the steels. Hardness measurements and detailed microstructure characterization were also done. While AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel sample which was prestained at 15% and aged at 200oC, showed the highest increasing in the yield strength, AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel which was prestained at 30% and aged at 600oC, has the highest yield strength. Microstructure photographs also support the mechanical test results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=austenitic%20stainless%20steel" title="austenitic stainless steel">austenitic stainless steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ferritic%20stainless%20steel" title=" ferritic stainless steel"> ferritic stainless steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=static%20strain%20aging" title=" static strain aging"> static strain aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20strength" title=" tensile strength"> tensile strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37051/static-strain-aging-in-ferritic-and-austenitic-stainless-steels" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37051.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">440</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6045</span> New Dynamic Constitutive Model for OFHC Copper Film</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jin%20Sung%20Kim">Jin Sung Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hoon%20Huh"> Hoon Huh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The material properties of OFHC copper film was investigated with the High-Speed Material Micro Testing Machine (HSMMTM) at the high strain rates. Dynamic strain ageing is a mechanism that has attracted interests of researchers due to its fascinating inexplicable repetitive nature for quite a long time. The interaction of dynamic strain ageing and cyclic plasticity has been studied from the mechanistic point of view. Dynamic strain ageing gives rise to identical serrated flow behavior in tensile and compressive halves of hysteresis loops and this has been found to gives rise to initial cyclic hardening followed by softening behavior, where as in non-DSA regime continuous cyclic softening has been found to be the dominant mechanism. An appreciable sensitivity towards nature of serrations has been observed due to degree of hardening of stable loop. The increase in degree of hardening with strain amplitude in the regime where only A type serrations are present and it decreases with strain amplitude where A+B type of serrations are present. Masing type of locus has been found in the behavior of metal at 280°C. Cyclic Stress Strain curve and Master curve has been constructed to decipher among the fatigue strength and ductility coefficients. Fractographic examinations have also shown a competition between progression of striations and secondary cracking. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20strain%20ageing" title="dynamic strain ageing">dynamic strain ageing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hardening" title=" hardening"> hardening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20cycle%20fatigue" title=" low cycle fatigue"> low cycle fatigue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=softening" title=" softening"> softening</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79210/cyclic-plastic-deformation-of-20mn-mo-ni-55-steel-in-dynamic-strain-ageing-regime" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79210.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">301</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6043</span> Investigation of Extreme Gradient Boosting Model Prediction of Soil Strain-Shear Modulus</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ehsan%20Mehryaar">Ehsan Mehryaar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reza%20Bushehri"> Reza Bushehri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the principal parameters defining the clay soil dynamic response is the strain-shear modulus relation. Predicting the strain and, subsequently, shear modulus reduction of the soil is essential for performance analysis of structures exposed to earthquake and dynamic loadings. Many soil properties affect soil’s dynamic behavior. In order to capture those effects, in this study, a database containing 1193 data points consists of maximum shear modulus, strain, moisture content, initial void ratio, plastic limit, liquid limit, initial confining pressure resulting from dynamic laboratory testing of 21 clays is collected for predicting the shear modulus vs. strain curve of soil. A model based on an extreme gradient boosting technique is proposed. A tree-structured parzan estimator hyper-parameter tuning algorithm is utilized simultaneously to find the best hyper-parameters for the model. The performance of the model is compared to the existing empirical equations using the coefficient of correlation and root mean square error. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=XGBoost" title="XGBoost">XGBoost</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyper-parameter%20tuning" title=" hyper-parameter tuning"> hyper-parameter tuning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soil%20shear%20modulus" title=" soil shear modulus"> soil shear modulus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20response" title=" dynamic response"> dynamic response</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141477/investigation-of-extreme-gradient-boosting-model-prediction-of-soil-strain-shear-modulus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141477.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">201</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6042</span> Effect of Thermal Aging on Low Cycle Fatigue of Alloy 690</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kushal%20Gowda%20Jayaram">Kushal Gowda Jayaram</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joseph%20Huret"> Joseph Huret</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jonathan%20Quibel"> Jonathan Quibel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Walter-John%20Chitty"> Walter-John Chitty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gilbert%20Henaff"> Gilbert Henaff</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Thermal aging is one of the concerns for the long-term operation of nuclear power plants. Indeed, components in the primary circuit undergo thermal aging while exposed to the chemically active environment of Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) over time. Among the materials used in the reactor components, Alloy 690 can be found in some critical components for nuclear safety. Despite its importance, research on the effect of thermal aging on the microstructural changes and low cycle fatigue (LCF) behavior of Alloy 690 remains limited. This study aims to assess the impact of thermal aging on the fatigue life of Alloy 690. The as-received sample underwent aging at 420°C for 4000 hours, representing the equivalent aging of 60 years in reactor working conditions. First, the characterization of the area and density of intergranular and intragranular precipitates was performed to understand the microstructural changes in the aged specimen. Then, low cycle fatigue tests were conducted on the as received and aged samples at varying strain amplitudes. To investigate the influence of thermal aging on the fatigue behavior of Alloy 690, fracture surfaces were analyzed to estimate fatigue crack growth rates based on striation spacing measurements. Additionally, the axially cut fractured samples have undergone analysis using Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) to understand the effect of aging on strain localization near the crack path. Results indicate that while the characterization of the area and density of intergranular precipitates in the aged specimen (for 2000 hours, approximately 30 years) showed no significant changes, there was a slight increase in the area and density of intragranular precipitates under the same conditions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alloy%20690" title="alloy 690">alloy 690</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20aging" title=" thermal aging"> thermal aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20cycle%20fatigue" title=" low cycle fatigue"> low cycle fatigue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=precipitates" title=" precipitates"> precipitates</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185273/effect-of-thermal-aging-on-low-cycle-fatigue-of-alloy-690" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185273.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">40</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6041</span> On-Chip Aging Sensor Circuit Based on Phase Locked Loop Circuit </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ararat%20Khachatryan">Ararat Khachatryan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Davit%20Mirzoyan"> Davit Mirzoyan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In sub micrometer technology, the aging phenomenon starts to have a significant impact on the reliability of integrated circuits by bringing performance degradation. For that reason, it is important to have a capability to evaluate the aging effects accurately. This paper presents an accurate aging measurement approach based on phase-locked loop (PLL) and voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) circuit. The architecture is rejecting the circuit self-aging effect from the characteristics of PLL, which is generating the frequency without any aging phenomena affects. The aging monitor is implemented in low power 32 nm CMOS technology, and occupies a pretty small area. Aging simulation results show that the proposed aging measurement circuit improves accuracy by about 2.8% at high temperature and 19.6% at high voltage. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aging%20effect" title="aging effect">aging effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HCI" title=" HCI"> HCI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NBTI" title=" NBTI"> NBTI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoscale" title=" nanoscale"> nanoscale</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65068/on-chip-aging-sensor-circuit-based-on-phase-locked-loop-circuit" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/65068.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">359</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6040</span> Aging Behaviour of 6061 Al-15 vol% SiC Composite in T4 and T6 Treatments</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Melby%20Chacko">Melby Chacko</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jagannath%20Nayak"> Jagannath Nayak</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aging behaviour of 6061 Al-15 vol% SiC composite was investigated using Rockwell B hardness measurement. The material used in this study is widely used in the design of structures for military applications. It was composed of a 45° Bi-axial fiber-glass mat of 0.286 mm thickness in a Polyester resin matrix. In adhesive bonding, a NORPOL Polyvinylester of 1 mm thickness was used to assemble the composite substrate. The experimental setup consists of a compression Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB), a high-speed infrared camera and a high-speed Fastcam rapid camera. For the dynamic compression tests, 13 mm x 13 mm x 9 mm samples for out-of-plane tests were considered from 372 to 1030 s-1. Specimen surface is controlled and monitored in situ and in real time using the high-speed camera which acquires the damage progressive in specimens and with the infrared camera which provides thermal images in time sequence. Preliminary compressive stress-strain vs. strain rates data obtained show that the dynamic material strength increases with increasing strain rates. Damage investigations have revealed that the failure mainly occurred in the adhesive/adherent interface because of the brittle nature of the polymeric adhesive. Results have shown the dependency of the dynamic parameters on strain rates. Significant temperature rise was observed in dynamic compression tests. Experimental results show that the temperature change depending on the strain rate and the damage mode and their maximum exceed 100 °C. The dependence of these results on strain rate indicates that there exists a strong correlation between damage rate sensitivity and heat dissipation, which might be useful when developing damage models under dynamic loading tacking into account the effect of the energy balance of adhesively bonded joints. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adhesive%20bonded%20joints" title="adhesive bonded joints">adhesive bonded joints</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hopkinson%20bars" title=" Hopkinson bars"> Hopkinson bars</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=out-of-plane%20tests" title=" out-of-plane tests"> out-of-plane tests</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20compression%20properties" title=" dynamic compression properties"> dynamic compression properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=damage%20mechanisms" title=" damage mechanisms"> damage mechanisms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20dissipation" title=" heat dissipation"> heat dissipation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90187/experimental-investigation-of-the-out-of-plane-dynamic-behavior-of-adhesively-bonded-composite-joints-at-high-strain-rates" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90187.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">212</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6037</span> Cyclic Stress and Masing Behaviour of Modified 9Cr-1Mo at RT and 300 °C</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Preeti%20Verma">Preeti Verma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P.%20Chellapandi"> P. It is also found to be a candidate material for future metallic fuel sodium cooled fast breeder reactor because of its high thermal conductivity, lower thermal expansion coefficient, micro structural stability, high irradiation void swelling resistance and higher resistance to stress corrosion cracking in water-steam systems compared to austenitic stainless steels. The components of steam generators that operate at elevated temperatures are often subjected to repeated thermal stresses as a result of temperature gradients which occur on heating and cooling during start-ups and shutdowns or during variations in operating conditions of a reactor. These transient thermal stresses give rise to LCF damage. In the present investigation strain controlled low cycle fatigue tests were conducted at room temperature and 300 °C in normalized and tempered condition using total strain amplitudes in the range from ±0.25% to ±0.5% at strain rate of 10-2 s-1. Cyclic Stress response at high strain amplitudes (±0.31% to ±0.5%) showed initial softening followed by hardening upto a few cycles and subsequent softening till failure. The extent of softening increased with increase in strain amplitude and temperature. Depends on the strain amplitude of the test the stress strain hysteresis loops displayed Masing behaviour at higher strain amplitudes and non-Masing at lower strain amplitudes at both the temperatures. It is quite opposite to the usual Masing and Non-Masing behaviour reported earlier for different materials. Low cycle fatigue damage was evaluated in terms of plastic strain and plastic strain energy approach at room temperature and 300 °C. It was observed that the plastic strain energy approach was found to be more closely matches with the experimental fatigue lives particularly, at 300 °C where dynamic strain aging was observed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Modified%209Cr-mo%20steel" title="Modified 9Cr-mo steel">Modified 9Cr-mo steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20cycle%20fatigue" title=" low cycle fatigue"> low cycle fatigue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masing%20behavior" title=" Masing behavior"> Masing behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclic%20softening" title=" cyclic softening"> cyclic softening</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20394/cyclic-stress-and-masing-behaviour-of-modified-9cr-1mo-at-rt-and-300-c" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20394.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">443</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6036</span> Behavior of the RC Slab Subjected to Impact Loading According to the DIF</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong%20Jae%20Yu">Yong Jae Yu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae-Yeol%20Cho"> Jae-Yeol Cho</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the design of structural concrete for impact loading, design or model codes often employ a dynamic increase factor (DIF) to impose dynamic effect on static response. Dynamic increase factors that are obtained from laboratory material test results and that are commonly given as a function of strain rate only are quite different from each other depending on the design concept of design codes like ACI 349M-06, fib Model Code 2010 and ACI 370R-14. Because the dynamic increase factors currently adopted in the codes are too simple and limited to consider a variety of strength of materials, their application in practical design is questionable. In this study, the dynamic increase factors used in the three codes were validated through the finite element analysis of reinforced concrete slab elements which were tested and reported by other researcher. The test was intended to simulate a wall element of the containment building in nuclear power plants that is assumed to be subject to impact scenario that the Pentagon experienced on September 11, 2001. The finite element analysis was performed using the ABAQAUS 6.10 and the plasticity models were employed for the concrete, reinforcement. The dynamic increase factors given in the three codes were applied to the stress-strain curves of the materials. To estimate the dynamic increase factors, strain rate was adopted as a parameter. Comparison of the test and analysis was done with regard to perforation depth, maximum deflection, and surface crack area of the slab. Consequently, it was found that DIF has so great an effect on the behavior of the reinforced concrete structures that selection of DIF should be very careful. The result implies that DIF should be provided in design codes in more delicate format considering various influence factors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact" title="impact">impact</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strain%20rate" title=" strain rate"> strain rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DIF" title=" DIF"> DIF</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slab%20elements" title=" slab elements"> slab elements</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27423/behavior-of-the-rc-slab-subjected-to-impact-loading-according-to-the-dif" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27423.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">294</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6035</span> Effect of Pre-Aging and Aging Parameters on Mechanical Behavior of Be-Treated 7075 Aluminum Alloys: Experimental Correlation using Minitab Software</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Tash">M. In order to grasp the state of the welded structure in operation in real time, the acceleration signal of the structure is measured. At this time, the vibration characteristic of the signal according to the fatigue load is an important parameter of the state diagnosis. This paper was an experimental study on the variation of vibration characteristics of welded beams with vibration aging (especially bending vibration). First simple beams were produced according to welding conditions. Each beam was vibrated and measured beam's PSD (power spectral density) according to the degree of aging. Also, modal testing was conducted to compare the transfer functions of welded beams. Testing result shows that the natural frequencies of the beam changed with the vibration aging due to the change of stiffness in welding part and its stiffness was estimated by the finite element method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20testing" title="modal testing">modal testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20frequency" title=" natural frequency"> natural frequency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibration%20aging" title=" vibration aging"> vibration aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=welded%20structure" title=" welded structure"> welded structure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79035/study-on-the-dynamic-characteristics-change-of-welded-beam-due-to-vibration-aging" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79035.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">483</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6031</span> Design of Strain Sensor Based on Cascaded Fiber Bragg Grating for Remote Sensing Monitoring Application</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arafat%20A.%20A.%20Shabaneh">Arafat A. In this paper, cascaded uniform FBG as a strain sensor for 6 km length at 1550 nm wavelength with 30 oC is designed with analyzing of dynamic strain and wavelength shifts. FBG is placed in a small segment of optical fiber, which reflects light of a specific wavelength and passes the remaining wavelengths. Compared with the RRA treatment, the non-isothermal aging (NIA) treatment produced discontinuous precipitates at grain boundaries, while the intragranular precipitates were fine and dense. The strength was similar to that of the RRA treatment; the corrosion resistance of the alloy was significantly improved by NIA aging. NIA treatment was less affected by the thickness of the alloy. We show that aging manifests itself as an inherent instability of gene network leading to exponential accumulation of regulatory errors with age. To validate our approach we studied age-dependent omic data such as transcriptomes, metabolomes etc. of different model organisms and humans. We build a computational platform based on our model to identify the targets and biomarkers of aging to design new drugs against aging and age-related diseases. As biomarkers of aging, we choose the rate of aging and the biological age since they completely determine the state of the organism. Since rate of aging rapidly changes in response to an external stress, this kind of biomarker can be useful as a tool for quantitative efficacy assessment of drugs, their combinations, dose optimization, chronic toxicity estimate, personalized therapies selection, clinical endpoints achievement (within clinical research), and death risk assessments. According to our model, we propose a method for targets identification for further interventions against aging and age-related diseases. The main goal of this study was to investigate the impact of oxidation on fatigue characteristics of a novel HMA composite fabricated with a combination of crumb rubber (CRM) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber subject to aging of 7 and 14 days. A flexural beam fatigue test was performed to evaluate several characteristics of control, CRM modified, PVA reinforced, and novel rubber-fiber HMA composite. Experimental results revealed that aging had a significant impact on the fatigue performance of novel HMA composite. It was found that a suitable proportion of CRM and PVA radically affected the performance of novel rubber-fiber HMA in resistance to fracture and fatigue cracking when subjected to long-term aging. The developed novel HMA composite containing 2% CRM and 0.2% PVA presented around 29 times higher resistance to fatigue cracking for a period of 7 days of aging. To develop a cumulative plastic deformation level of 250 micros, such a mixture required over 50 times higher cycles than control HMA. Moreover, the crack propagation rate was reduced by over 90%, with over 12 times higher energy required to propagate a unit crack length in such a mixture compared to conventional HMA. Further, digital imaging correlation analyses revealed a more twisted and convoluted fracture path and higher strain distribution in rubber-fiber HMA composite. The fatigue performance after long-term aging of such novel HMA composite explicitly validates the ability to withstand load repetition that could lead to an extension in the service life of pavement infrastructure and reduce taxpayers’ dollars spent. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crumb%20rubber" title="crumb rubber">crumb rubber</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PVA%20fibers" title=" PVA fibers"> PVA fibers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry%20process" title=" dry process"> dry process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aging" title=" aging"> aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance%20testing" title=" performance testing"> performance testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatigue%20life" title=" fatigue life"> fatigue life</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/169846/impact-of-aging-on-fatigue-performance-of-novel-hybrid-hma" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/169846.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">66</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6026</span> Evaluating the Durability and Safety of Lithium-Ion Batterie in High-Temperature Desert Climates</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kenza%20Maher">Kenza Maher</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yahya%20Zakaria"> Yahya Zakaria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noora%20S.%20Al-Jaidah"> Noora S. The cells are also calendar-aged at the same temperatures in both charged and discharged states for 6 months to investigate the effect of aging and temperature on capacity fade and state of health. The results showed that all battery cells demonstrated good cyclability and had a good state of health at both temperatures. However, the capacity loss and state of health of these cells are found to be dependent on the cell chemistry and aging conditions, including temperature. Specifically, the capacity loss is found to be higher at the higher aging temperature, indicating the significant impact of temperature on the aging of lithium-ion batteries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lithium-ion%20battery" title="lithium-ion battery">lithium-ion battery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aging%20mechanisms" title=" aging mechanisms"> aging mechanisms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cycle%20aging" title=" cycle aging"> cycle aging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=calendar%20aging." title=" calendar aging."> calendar aging.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165119/evaluating-the-durability-and-safety-of-lithium-ion-batterie-in-high-temperature-desert-climates" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165119.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">99</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6025</span> Case Study of the Exercise Habits and Aging Anxiety of Taiwanese Insurance Agents</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=W.%20T.%20Hsu">W. Although many studies have been conducted on the dynamic model of HDR bearings, few models can reflect phenomena such as dependency of experienced shear strain on initial history. In order to develop a model that can represent the dependency of experienced shear strain of HDR by Mullins effect, dynamic loading test was conducted using HDR specimen. The reaction of HDR was measured by applying a horizontal vibration using a hybrid actuator under a constant vertical load. Dynamic program analysis was also performed after dynamic loading test. The dynamic model applied in program analysis is a bilinear type double-target model. This model is modified from typical bilinear model. This model can express the nonlinear characteristics related to the initial history of HDR bearings. However, there is a huge thick gravel layer developed with high content, wide distribution and variation in size of gravel, leading to the condition of strong heterogeneity. So that, the drill string is in a state of severe vibration and the drill bit is worn seriously while drilling, which greatly reduces the rock-breaking efficiency, and there is a complex load state of impact and three-dimensional in-situ stress acting on the rock in the bottom hole. The dynamic mechanical properties and the influencing factors of conglomerate, the main component of gravel layer, are the basis of engineering design and efficient rock breaking method and theoretical research. Limited by the previously experimental technique, there are few works published yet about conglomerate, especially rare in dynamic load. Based on this, a kind of 3D SHPB system, three-dimensional prestress, can be applied to simulate the in-situ stress characteristics, is adopted for the dynamic test of the conglomerate. The results show that the dynamic strength is higher than its static strength obviously, and while the three-dimensional prestress is 0 and the loading strain rate is 81.25~228.42 s-1, the true triaxial equivalent strength is 167.17~199.87 MPa, and the strong growth factor of dynamic and static is 1.61~1.92. And the higher the impact velocity, the greater the loading strain rate, the higher the dynamic strength and the greater the failure strain, which all increase linearly. There is a critical prestress in the impact direction and its vertical direction. In the impact direction, while the prestress is less than the critical one, the dynamic strength and the loading strain rate increase linearly; otherwise, the strength decreases slightly and the strain rate decreases rapidly. In the vertical direction of impact load, the strength increases and the strain rate decreases linearly before the critical prestress, after that, oppositely. The dynamic strength of the conglomerate can be reduced properly by reducing the amplitude of impact load so that the service life of rock-breaking tools can be prolonged while drilling in the stratum rich in gravel. The research has important reference significance for the speed-increasing technology and theoretical research while drilling in gravel layer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=huge%20thick%20gravel%20layer" title="huge thick gravel layer">huge thick gravel layer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conglomerate" title=" conglomerate"> conglomerate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D%20SHPB" title=" 3D SHPB"> 3D SHPB</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20strength" title=" dynamic strength"> dynamic strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20deformation%20characteristics" title=" the deformation characteristics"> the deformation characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prestress" title=" prestress"> prestress</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142294/experimental-investigation-on-the-effect-of-prestress-on-the-dynamic-mechanical-properties-of-conglomerate-based-on-3d-shpb-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142294.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">209</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6022</span> Torsional Vibration of Carbon Nanotubes via Nonlocal Gradient Theories</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Arda">Mustafa Arda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Metin%20Aydogdu"> Metin Aydogdu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have many possible application areas because of their superior physical properties. However, magnesium alloys are still restricted in engineering applications because of their lower strength and ductility. Hence, there are large spaces and challenges in achieving high-performance Mg alloys. This work reports an Mg-Gd-Er-Zn-Zr alloy with ultrahigh strength and good ductility developed via hot extrusion, pre-deformation, and two-stage aging. The extruded alloy comprises fine dynamically recrystallized (DRXed) grains and coarse worked grains with a large aspect ratio. Pre-deformation has little effect on the microstructure and macro-texture and serves primarily to introduce a large number of dislocations, resulting in strain hardening and higher precipitation strengthening during subsequent aging due to more nucleation sites. As a result, the alloy exhibits a yield strength (YS) of 506 MPa, an ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 549 MPa, and elongation (EL) of 8.2% at room temperature, showing superior strength-ductility balance than the other wrought Mg-RE alloys previously reported. The current study proposes a combination of pre-deformation and two-stage aging to further improve the mechanical properties of wrought Mg alloys for engineering applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnesium%20alloys" title="magnesium alloys">magnesium alloys</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20properties" title=" mechanical properties"> mechanical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microstructure" title=" microstructure"> microstructure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pre-deformation" title=" pre-deformation"> pre-deformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-stage%20aging" title=" two-stage aging"> two-stage aging</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123503/development-of-a-mg-gd-er-zn-zr-alloy-with-ultrahigh-strength-and-ductility-via-extrusion-pre-deformation-and-two-stage-aging" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/123503.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6020</span> Simulation of Uniaxial Ratcheting Behaviors of SA508-3 Steel at Elevated Temperature</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jun%20Tian">Jun Tian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu%20Yang"> Yu Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liping%20Zhang"> Liping Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qianhua%20Kan"> Qianhua Kan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Experimental results show that SA 508-3 steel exhibits temperature dependent cyclic softening characteristic and obvious ratcheting behaviors, and dynamic strain age was observed at temperature range of 200 ºC to 350 ºC. Based on these observations, a temperature dependent cyclic plastic constitutive model was proposed by introducing the nonlinear cyclic softening and kinematic hardening rules, and the dynamic strain age was also considered into the constitutive model. Nowadays, research on structural damage detection methods based on vibration analysis is very extensive. Moreover, these methods can be used as methods of permanent and timely inspection of structures and prevent further damage to structures. Non-destructive methods are the low-cost and economical methods for determining the damage of structures. In this research, a non-destructive method for detecting and identifying the failure location in structures based on dynamic responses resulting from time history analysis is proposed. When the structure is damaged due to the reduction of stiffness, and due to the applied loads, the displacements in different parts of the structure were increased. In the proposed method, the damage position is determined based on the calculation of the strain energy difference in each member of the damaged structure and the healthy structure at any time. Defective members of the structure are indicated by the amount of strain energy relative to the healthy state. The results indicated that the proper accuracy and performance of the proposed method for identifying failure in structures. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
