Estas posiciones emergen desde las representaciones sociales de las que participan quienes las adoptan. El objetivo de este estudio es aproximarse a los contenidos de su representación social en jóve-nes estudiantes de universidad a través de las producciones discursivas mediante la técnica del grupo de discusión. Se formaron cuatro grupos de chicas, cuatro de chicos y uno mixto. El análisis de contenido a tra-vés del programa Nvivo 10, revela la presencia de ambas posiciones en el discurso y un marco común de definición. En la representación social emergente, el debate se centra en la mujer prostituida permane-ciendo invisibilizado el hombre consumidor y los valores del modelo patriarcal de sexualidad. Ocupa un lu-gar preponderante la cuestión económico-laboral. Los argumentos en contra se articulan en torno a: (1) estigma y degradación para la mujer, (2) no legitimidad ética, (3) nunca es libre para las mujeres ni legítima para los hombres. Los argumentos a favor se articulan en torno a: (1) contrato libre entre personas, (2) cum-ple una función social, (3) no es degradante para las mujeres ni éticamente reprobable. Para responder a esta pregunta, se analizaron los discursos de los clientes de prostitución a través de entrevistas en profundidad semidirigidas, entrevistas grupales y grupos de discusión. Con el objetivo de estructurar coherentemente l os relatos obtenidos y clasificarlos en categorías, se puso en práctica el marco teórico “frame analysis”. Se obtuvieron cuatro tipologías de clientes ideales: misógino (odio a las mujeres); consumista (todo puede ser comprado y vendido); amigo (afectivo a unque abusa); y crítico (ocasional y arrepentido). This includes paid women who are willing to take risks and face the scorn of others just to sell sexual services in exchange for money. This qualitative research gave a voice to women in the field of prostitution to reveal their perspective and psychological struggle in their occupation. The data in this research came from interviews with female sex workers from Metro Manila. The obtained information was analyzed through thematic analysis. Based on the research results, the main themes were developed and extended: poverty, clinging to the knife, life's blows, living despite the humiliation, faith, and new hope. Despite the negative connotations, it can be seen that hope has sprouted in their feelings. There is hope that, in time, they will be able to get out of their misery. When a woman leaves the path of a good woman and becomes a prostitute she experiences a crisis that may lead to suicide attempts. Therefore, this rupture with the goal of being a good woman is not complete because, even when the woman stays in prostitution for many years, she remains attached to her former dream of being a good woman. Epistemological similarities between the tenets of Liberation Psychology and gender approaches in the analysis of social problems concerning women are analyzed. The Liberation Psychology epistemological provides a useful framework to address the complexity of prostitution, from the analysis of power dynamics operating in it. His focus areas of analysis allow the two issues in dispute, the focus of prostitution of women: a) the subjectivity of prostituted women who demand a commitment to improving their living conditions, b) structural aspects generate oppression and demand a transformation of reality. Methodological plurality of its approach opens a wide range of possibilities for the diversity of disciplines involved in an intervention aimed at empowering women in prostitution. I dialog with other articles published in this issue of the cadernos pagu, considering the results of studies conducted in Brazil and other Latin American countries. My comments focus on two issues that arose in the dialog between this work and the articles of Christian Groess Gren, Marcia Anita Sprandel, Kamala Kempadoo and Amalia Cabezas published in this volume. I first refer to the analytical possibilities and the limits of concepts such as sexual economies and sex markets. A second question relates to forms of governmentality articulated in the regimes for fighting human trafficking that affect these exchanges, particularly sexual work.
