UN Photo/Paulo Filgueiras"/> </div>  </div> <div class="row container"> <section class="col-xs-12 col-sm-9 un-no-padding region-content"> <h2 class="page-header">Types of Accreditation</h2> <br> <h3 class="title">Temporary</h3> <p>This accreditation status is for visiting journalists who cover a specific event or press conference, accompany a visiting delegation, or those who need temporary access to media facilities.</p> <br> <h3 class="title">Correspondents (long-term)</h3> <p> Correspondent accreditation status is for journalists requiring frequent access to the United Nations. Pass holders are designated with a green "P” (for press) on their badge. This accreditation is only granted to journalists residing in the tri-state area or Washington, D.C.</p> <br> <h3 class="title">Resident Correspondents (long-term)</h3> <p>Resident correspondent accreditation status is assigned to a limited number of journalists whose organization holds an office/desk space at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. These journalists are required to cover the United Nations and use the office space an average of 2 to 3 times a week. Pass holders are designated with a white "P” (for press) on their badge. This accreditation is only granted to journalists residing in the tri-state area.</p> <p><em>Organizations interested in office / desk space may contact our office. Please note that space is extremely limited and that there is a waiting list.</em></p> <br> <h3 class="title">Emeritus</h3> <p> Former resident correspondents who served for 10 or more years at United Nations Headquarters in New York City and had an office under a recognized media organisation may maintain a pass under an "Emeritus" status designation for a maximum of 3 years and are ineligible to any office / desk space.</p> <br> <h3 class="title">Interns</h3><p> Interns who are active students will need to provide a letter from their university supporting the internship. Non-US nationals will need to provide a letter or an I-20 form listing the internship. What should I do if my media ground pass is stolen or missing?</b></p> <p>A. If your media ground pass is lost or stolen, you MUST immediately report it to the Media Accreditation Office (located at the corner of 45th Street & First Avenue). <p><b>Q. Where do I go to pick up my media ground pass?</b></p> <p>A. Please follow instructions in the approval email. Temporary pass applicants should go to the Media Accreditation Office office located at 45th Street & First Avenue. Long-term pass applicants should go to the Pass and ID Unit at 320 East 45th Street (between First and Second Avenues). <p><b>Q. What should the letter asking for my accreditation contain?</b></p> <p>A. The letter, on letterhead and signed by an authorized official (e.g., the Publisher, Assignment Editor or Bureau Chief) of the media organization seeking accreditation, should have the name(s) of those who need the accrediation, what they will cover and the length of the assignment. It should also specify the function(s) of the individual(s) who will be coming. <p><b>Q. Are there any restrictions?</b></p> <p>A. Media accreditation is only for coverage of UN activities at Headquarters, and does not constitute an endorsement for any other purpose. At any time, the Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (MALU) may revoke accreditation if it is put to improper use; if it is determined that the accreditation has not been used to cover UN events; if it has been used to abuse the privileges so extended; or if personal or public conduct is not consistent with the best interest of the Organization.
