He went therefore and washed and came [back] seeing. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-8.htm#literal"><b>8</b></a></span>The neighbors therefore and those having seen him before, that he was a beggar, said, Is this not he who was sitting and begging? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-9.htm#literal"><b>9</b></a></span>Some said, It is he, others were saying, No, but he is like him. He kept saying, I am [he]. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-10.htm#literal"><b>10</b></a></span>They said therefore to him, How then were your eyes opened? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-11.htm#literal"><b>11</b></a></span>He answered, the man called Jesus made clay and anointed upon (smeared upon) my eyes; and said to me, Go into Siloam and wash. Having gone therefore and having washed, I received sight (looked up). <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-12.htm#literal"><b>12</b></a></span>And they said to him, Where is He? He says, I do not know.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-13.htm#literal"><b>13</b></a></span>They bring him to the Pharisees, who was formerly blind. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-14.htm#literal"><b>14</b></a></span>Now it was Sabbath on (in) the day which Jesus had made the clay and opened his eyes. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-15.htm#literal"><b>15</b></a></span>The Pharisees therefore also again asked him how he had received sight. And he said to them, He placed (epetheken-placed/laid/put upon) clay upon my eyes and I washed and I see. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-16.htm#literal"><b>16</b></a></span>Therefore some of the Pharisees said, This man is not from God because He does not keep the Sabbath. Others however said, How is a sinful man able to so such signs? And there was a division (schisma) among them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-17.htm#literal"><b>17</b></a></span>They say therefore to the blind [man] again, What do you say concerning Him, because He opened your eyes? And he said, He is a prophet.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-18.htm#literal"><b>18</b></a></span>The Jews therefore did not believe concerning Him that he had been blind and had received sight until when they called the parents of him having received sight. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-19.htm#literal"><b>19</b></a></span>And they asked them saying, This is your son of whom you say that he was born blind? How then does he presently see? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-20.htm#literal"><b>20</b></a></span>Then his parents answered and said, We know that this is our son and that he was born blind. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-21.htm#literal"><b>21</b></a></span>However how he presently sees, we do not know, or who opened his eyes, we do not know; ask him; he has age (maturity, full-aged); he will speak concerning himself. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-22.htm#literal"><b>22</b></a></span>His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews already had agreed together that if anyone should confess Him [to be] Christ he should be expelled from the synagogue (excommunicated). <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-23.htm#literal"><b>23</b></a></span>Because of this his parents said, He has age, ask him.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-24.htm#literal"><b>24</b></a></span>They called out therefore the man a second time who had been blind and said to him, Give glory to God; we know that this man is a sinner. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-25.htm#literal"><b>25</b></a></span>Then he answered, Whether He is a sinner I do not know. One [thing] I do know, that being blind, now I see. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-26.htm#literal"><b>26</b></a></span>So they said to him, What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-27.htm#literal"><b>27</b></a></span>He answered them, I told you already and you did not listen. Why again do you want to hear? Do you also want to become His disciples? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-28.htm#literal"><b>28</b></a></span>And they railed (reviled) at him and said, You are a disciple of that One; we however are disciples of Moses. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-29.htm#literal"><b>29</b></a></span>We know that God has spoken to Moses; however this man we do not know from where He is. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-30.htm#literal"><b>30</b></a></span>The man answered and said to them, Indeed in this is an amazing (wonderful, marvelous) thing, that you do not know from where He is and yet He opened my eyes. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-31.htm#literal"><b>31</b></a></span>We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-revering and does His will, He hears him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-32.htm#literal"><b>32</b></a></span>From out of the age, it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of one having been born blind. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-33.htm#literal"><b>33</b></a></span>If this man were not from God, He could not do anything. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/john/9-34.htm#literal"><b>34</b></a></span>They answered and said to him, You were wholly born in sins and you teach us?
