The main goal of this analysis is to decipher the distorted signals and to estimate the harmonics influence on power systems. We have performed an analytical study of non-linear loads behavior in the residential environment. Simulations have been performed in order to evaluate the distorted rate of the current and follow his behavior. To complete this work, an instrumental platform has been realized to carry out practical tests on single-phase non-linear loads which illustrate the current consumption of some domestic appliances supplied with single-phase sinusoidal voltage. These non-linear loads have been processed and tracked in order to limit their influence on the power grid and to reduce the Joule effect losses. As a result, the study has allowed to identify responsible circuits of harmonic pollution. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distortion%20rate" title="distortion rate">distortion rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=harmonic%20analysis" title=" harmonic analysis"> harmonic analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=harmonic%20pollution" title=" harmonic pollution"> harmonic pollution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-linear%20load" title=" non-linear load"> non-linear load</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20factor" title=" power factor"> power factor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95198/harmonic-pollution-caused-by-non-linear-load-analysis-and-identification" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95198.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29806</span> Development of a Multi-Factorial Instrument for Accident Analysis Based on Systemic Methods</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20V.%20Pietreanu">C. The traditional linear focus on accident analysis describes accidents as a sequence of events, while the latest systemic models outline interdependencies between different factors and define the processes evolution related to a specific (normal) situation. Linear and non-linear accident analysis methods have specific limitations, so the second point of interest is mirrored by the aim to discover the drawbacks of systemic models which becomes a starting point for developing new directions to identify risks or data closer to the cause of incidents/accidents. Since communication represents a critical issue in the interaction of human factor and has been proved to be the answer of the problems made by possible breakdowns in different communication procedures, from this focus point, on the third pylon a new error-modeling instrument suitable for risk assessment/accident analysis will be elaborated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=accident%20analysis" title="accident analysis">accident analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-factorial%20error%20modeling" title=" multi-factorial error modeling"> multi-factorial error modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk" title=" risk"> risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systemic%20methods" title=" systemic methods"> systemic methods</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86627/development-of-a-multi-factorial-instrument-for-accident-analysis-based-on-systemic-methods" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86627.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">208</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29805</span> Blood Glucose Measurement and Analysis: Methodology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=I.%20M.%20Abd%20Rahim">I. A binary linear code C = [n, k, d] is called optimal if there is no linear code with higher minimum distance d given the length n and the dimension k. There are bounds giving limits for the minimum distance d of a linear code of fixed length n and dimension k. The lower bound which can be taken by construction process tells that there is a known linear code having this minimum distance. The upper bound is given by theoretic results such as Griesmer bound. One way to find an optimal binary linear code is to make the lower bound of d equal to its higher bound. That is, to construct a binary linear code which achieves the highest possible value of its minimum distance d, given n and k. Some optimal binary linear codes were presented by Andries Brouwer in his published table on bounds of the minimum distance d of binary linear codes for 1 ≤ n ≤ 256 and k ≤ n. This was further improved by Markus Grassl by giving a detailed construction process for each code exhibiting the lower bound. In this paper, we construct new optimal binary linear codes by using some construction processes on existing binary linear codes. Particularly, we developed an algorithm applied to the codes already constructed to extend the list of optimal binary linear codes up to 257 ≤ n ≤ 300 for k ≤ 7. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bounds%20of%20linear%20codes" title="bounds of linear codes">bounds of linear codes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Griesmer%20bound" title=" Griesmer bound"> Griesmer bound</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction%20of%20linear%20codes" title=" construction of linear codes"> construction of linear codes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimal%20binary%20linear%20codes" title=" optimal binary linear codes"> optimal binary linear codes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31628/on-the-construction-of-some-optimal-binary-linear-codes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31628.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">755</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29803</span> Effects of Wind Load on the Tank Structures with Various Shapes and Aspect Ratios</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Doo%20Byong%20Bae">Doo Byong Bae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae%20Jun%20Yoo"> Jae Jun Yoo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Il%20Gyu%20Park"> Il Gyu Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Choi%20Seowon"> Choi Seowon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oh%20Chang%20Kook"> Oh Chang Kook</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> There are several wind load provisions to evaluate the wind response on tank structures such as API, Euro-code, etc. the assessment of wind action applying these provisions is made by performing the finite element analysis using both linear bifurcation analysis and geometrically nonlinear analysis. In the present work, the nonlinear static analysis (pushover) of RC frame buildings of three, five, and seven stories is carried out considering models of concentrated plasticity using plastic hinges; and the seismic performance points are determined using ATC-40, FEMA 356, and FEMA 440 guidelines. Using this last standard, the highest inelastic displacements and basal shears are obtained, providing designs that are more conservative. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pushover" title="pushover">pushover</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear" title=" nonlinear"> nonlinear</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RC%20building" title=" RC building"> RC building</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FEMA%20440" title=" FEMA 440"> FEMA 440</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ATC%2040" title=" ATC 40"> ATC 40</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136822/seismic-performance-point-of-rc-frame-buildings-using-atc-40-fema-356-and-fema-440-guidelines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136822.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29801</span> Extension of Positive Linear Operator</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Manal%20Azzidani">Manal Azzidani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research consideres the extension of special functions called Positive Linear Operators. the bounded linear operator which defined from normed space to Banach space will extend to the closure of the its domain, And extend identified linear functional on a vector subspace by Hana-Banach theorem which could be generalized to the positive linear operators. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extension" title="extension">extension</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=positive%20operator" title=" positive operator"> positive operator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riesz%20space" title=" Riesz space"> Riesz space</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sublinear%20function" title=" sublinear function"> sublinear function</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33220/extension-of-positive-linear-operator" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33220.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">517</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29800</span> Internet Purchases in European Union Countries: Multiple Linear Regression Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ksenija%20Dumi%C4%8Di%C4%87">Ksenija Dumičić</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anita%20%C4%8Ceh%20%C4%8Casni"> Anita Čeh Časni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Irena%20Pali%C4%87"> Irena Palić</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper examines economic and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development influence on recently increasing Internet purchases by individuals for European Union member states. Finally, two linear regression models were studied in detail. Conducted simple linear regression analysis confirmed the research hypothesis that the Internet purchases in analysed EU countries is positively correlated with statistically significant variable Gross Domestic Product per capita (GDPpc). Also, analysed multiple linear regression model with four regressors, showing ICT development level, indicates that ICT development is crucial for explaining the Internet purchases by individuals, confirming the research hypothesis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=European%20union" title="European union">European union</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Internet%20purchases" title=" Internet purchases"> Internet purchases</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20linear%20regression%20model" title=" multiple linear regression model"> multiple linear regression model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=outlier" title=" outlier"> outlier</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2650/internet-purchases-in-european-union-countries-multiple-linear-regression-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2650.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">303</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29799</span> Least Squares Method Identification of Corona Current-Voltage Characteristics and Electromagnetic Field in Electrostatic Precipitator</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Nouri">H. Least squares problems that of into two categories: linear or ordinary least squares and non-linear least squares, depending on whether or not the residuals are linear in all unknowns. The linear least-squares problem occurs in statistical regression analysis; it has a closed-form solution. A closed-form solution (or closed form expression) is any formula that can be evaluated in a finite number of standard operations. The discussion will be restricted to plane frameworks containing a constant cross-section for each element. In addition, it is assumed that the frames are prevented from out-of-plane deflection. This part of the investigation is performed to generalize the established method for the assemblage structures such as frameworks. As explained, the governing differential equations are non-linear and cannot be formulated easily due to unknown axial load of the struts in the frame. By the assumption of constant axial load, the governing equations are changed to linear ones in most methods. Since the modeling and the solutions of the non-linear form of the governing equations are cumbersome, the linear form of the equations would be used in the established method. However, according to the ability of the method to reconsider the minor omitted parameters in modeling during the solution procedure, the axial load in the elements at each stage of the iteration can be computed and applied in the next stage. Therefore, the ability of the method to present an accurate approach to the solutions of non-linear equations will be demonstrated again in this paper. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear" title="nonlinear">nonlinear</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stability" title=" stability"> stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=buckling" title=" buckling"> buckling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modified%20%20newmark%20method" title=" modified newmark method"> modified newmark method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42635/second-order-analysis-of-frames-using-modified-newmark-method" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42635.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">426</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29796</span> Estimation of Functional Response Model by Supervised Functional Principal Component Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyon%20I.%20Paek">Hyon I. Compared with multivariate linear regression, functional linear regression is regarded as an infinite-dimensional case, and the main task is to reduce dimensions of functional response and functional predictors. One common approach is to adapt functional principal component analysis (FPCA) on functional predictors and then use a few leading functional principal components (FPC) to predict the functional model. The leading FPCs estimated by the typical FPCA explain a major variation of the functional predictor, but these leading FPCs may not be mostly correlated with the functional response, so they may not be significant in the prediction for response. In this paper, we propose a supervised functional principal component analysis method for a functional response model with FPCs obtained by considering the correlation of the functional response. Our method would have a better prediction accuracy than the typical FPCA method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=supervised" title="supervised">supervised</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=functional%20principal%20component%20analysis" title=" functional principal component analysis"> functional principal component analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=functional%20response" title=" functional response"> functional response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=functional%20linear%20regression" title=" functional linear regression"> functional linear regression</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177071/estimation-of-functional-response-model-by-supervised-functional-principal-component-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177071.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29795</span> Sediment Patterns from Fluid-Bed Interactions: A Direct Numerical Simulations Study on Fluvial Turbulent Flows</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nadim%20Zgheib">Nadim Zgheib</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sivaramakrishnan%20Balachandar"> Sivaramakrishnan Balachandar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We present results on the initial formation of ripples from an initially flattened erodible bed. We use direct numerical simulations (DNS) of turbulent open channel flow over a fixed sinusoidal bed coupled with hydrodynamic stability analysis. We use the direct forcing immersed boundary method to account for the presence of the sediment bed. The resolved flow provides the bed shear stress and consequently the sediment transport rate, which is needed in the stability analysis of the Exner equation. The approach is different from traditional linear stability analysis in the sense that the phase lag between the bed topology, and the sediment flux is obtained from the DNS. We ran 11 simulations at a fixed shear Reynolds number of 180, but for different sediment bed wavelengths. The analysis allows us to sweep a large range of physical and modelling parameters to predict their effects on linear growth. The Froude number appears to be the critical controlling parameter in the early linear development of ripples, in contrast with the dominant role of particle Reynolds number during the equilibrium stage. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=direct%20numerical%20simulation" title="direct numerical simulation">direct numerical simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=immersed%20boundary%20method" title=" immersed boundary method"> immersed boundary method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sediment-bed%20interactions" title=" sediment-bed interactions"> sediment-bed interactions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=turbulent%20multiphase%20flow" title=" turbulent multiphase flow"> turbulent multiphase flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20stability%20analysis" title=" linear stability analysis"> linear stability analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106327/sediment-patterns-from-fluid-bed-interactions-a-direct-numerical-simulations-study-on-fluvial-turbulent-flows" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106327.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">187</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29794</span> Approximations of Fractional Derivatives and Its Applications in Solving Non-Linear Fractional Variational Problems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Harendra%20Singh">Harendra Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajesh%20Pandey"> Rajesh Pandey</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The paper presents a numerical method based on operational matrix of integration and Ryleigh method for the solution of a class of non-linear fractional variational problems (NLFVPs). In this case, as it is accepted by the most of the researchers, there are outputs, which are produced by a DMU to be used as inputs in a future time. Those outputs are known as intermediates. The common models, in DDEA, do not take into account the shape of the distribution of those inputs, outputs or intermediates data, assuming that the distribution of the virtual value of them does not deviate from linearity. This weakness causes the limitation of the accuracy of the analytical power of the traditional DDEA models. In this paper, the authors, using the concept of piecewise linear inputs and outputs, propose an extended DDEA model. The proposed model increases the flexibility of the traditional DDEA models and improves the measurement of the dynamic performance of DMUs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dynamic%20Data%20Envelopment%20Analysis" title="Dynamic Data Envelopment Analysis">Dynamic Data Envelopment Analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DDEA" title=" DDEA"> DDEA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piecewise%20linear%20inputs" title=" piecewise linear inputs"> piecewise linear inputs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piecewise%20linear%20outputs" title=" piecewise linear outputs"> piecewise linear outputs</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86963/improving-the-analytical-power-of-dynamic-dea-models-by-the-consideration-of-the-shape-of-the-distribution-of-inputsoutputs-data-a-linear-piecewise-decomposition-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86963.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">161</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29791</span> A Spectral Decomposition Method for Ordinary Differential Equation Systems with Constant or Linear Right Hand Sides</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20B.%20Ogunrinde">R. In particular, solutions of homogeneous linear systems, i.e. with zero RHS, conform to the exact analytical solutions of the systems in terms of t. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spectral%20decomposition" title="spectral decomposition">spectral decomposition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20RHS" title=" linear RHS"> linear RHS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homogeneous%20linear%20systems" title=" homogeneous linear systems"> homogeneous linear systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eigenvalues%20of%20the%20Jacobian" title=" eigenvalues of the Jacobian"> eigenvalues of the Jacobian</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54215/a-spectral-decomposition-method-for-ordinary-differential-equation-systems-with-constant-or-linear-right-hand-sides" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54215.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">330</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29790</span> Closed Form Exact Solution for Second Order Linear Differential Equations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saeed%20Otarod">Saeed Otarod</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In a different simple and straight forward analysis a closed-form integral solution is found for nonhomogeneous second order linear ordinary differential equations, in terms of a particular solution of their corresponding homogeneous part. However, for thin-surface pavements subject to light or medium traffic volumes, the importance of the non-linear stress-strain behavior of unbound granular materials requires the use of more sophisticated numerical models for the structural design of these pavements. The simplified analysis of the nonlinear behavior of granular materials in pavement design will be developed in this study. To achieve this objective, an equivalent linear model derived from a volumetric shear stress model is used to simulate the nonlinear elastic behavior of two unlinked local granular materials often used in pavements. This model is included here to adequately incorporate material non-linearity due to stress dependence and stiffness of the granular layers in the flexible pavement analysis. The sensitivity of the pavement design criteria to the likely variations in asphalt layer thickness and the mineralogical nature of unbound granular materials commonly used in pavement structures are also evaluated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=granular%20materials" title="granular materials">granular materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20equivalent%20model" title=" linear equivalent model"> linear equivalent model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-linear%20behavior" title=" non-linear behavior"> non-linear behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pavement%20design" title=" pavement design"> pavement design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20volumetric%20strain%20model" title=" shear volumetric strain model"> shear volumetric strain model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95649/non-linear-behavior-of-granular-materials-in-pavement-design" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95649.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29788</span> Non-Linear Vibration and Stability Analysis of an Axially Moving Beam with Rotating-Prismatic Joint</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Najafi">M. The link has been rotational and translational motion and it was assumed that the beam is moving with a harmonic velocity about a constant mean velocity. Non-linearity has been introduced by including the non-linear strain to the analysis. Dynamic model is obtained by Euler-Bernoulli beam assumption and modal expansion method. Also, the effects of rotary inertia, axial force, and associated boundary conditions of the dynamic model were analyzed. Since the complex boundary value problem cannot be solved analytically, the multiple scale method is utilized to obtain an approximate solution. Finally, the effects of several conditions on the differences among the behavior of the non-linear term, mean velocity on natural frequencies and the system stability are discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-linear%20vibration" title="non-linear vibration">non-linear vibration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stability" title=" stability"> stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=axially%20moving%20beam" title=" axially moving beam"> axially moving beam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bifurcation" title=" bifurcation"> bifurcation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20scales%20method" title=" multiple scales method"> multiple scales method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67244/non-linear-vibration-and-stability-analysis-of-an-axially-moving-beam-with-rotating-prismatic-joint" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67244.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">370</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29787</span> Study of Gait Stability Evaluation Technique Based on Linear Inverted Pendulum Model</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kang%20Sungjae">Kang Sungjae</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research proposes a gait stability evaluation technique based on the linear inverted pendulum model and moving support foot Zero Moment Point. The Zero Moment Point gait analysis techniques mentioned above validates reference trajectories for the center of mass of the gait orthosis, the timing of the steps and landing position references for the swing feet. Usually, this movement is achieved with the use of rotary motors combined with electrical control systems and mechanical systems such as gears, pulleys and bearings. Other types of devices are based on linear motors, where the linear motion is obtained directly. The Linear Stepper Motor (MLP) is an excellent solution for industrial applications that require precise positioning and high speed. This study presents an MLP formed by a linear structure and static ferromagnetic material, and a mover structure in which three coils are mounted. Mechanical suspension systems allow a linear movement between static and mover parts, maintaining a constant air gap. The operating principle is based on the tendency of alignment of magnetic flux through the path of least reluctance. The force proportional to the intensity of the electric current and the speed proportional to the frequency of the excitation coils. The study of this device is still based on the use of a numerical and experimental analysis to verify the relationship among electric current applied and planar force developed. In addition, the magnetic field in the air gap region is also monitored. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20stepper%20motor" title="linear stepper motor">linear stepper motor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=planar%20traction%20force" title=" planar traction force"> planar traction force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reluctance%20magnetic" title=" reluctance magnetic"> reluctance magnetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=industry%20applications" title=" industry applications"> industry applications</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26958/study-on-the-dc-linear-stepper-motor-to-industrial-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26958.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">500</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29785</span> Derivation of Bathymetry from High-Resolution Satellite Images: Comparison of Empirical Methods through Geographical Error Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anusha%20P.%20Wijesundara">Anusha P. Satellite-derived bathymetry data provide detailed information in areas where conventional sounding data is lacking and conventional surveys are inaccessible. The two empirical approaches of log-linear bathymetric inversion model and non-linear bathymetric inversion model are applied for deriving bathymetry from high-resolution multispectral satellite imagery. This study compares these two approaches by means of geographical error analysis for the site Kankesanturai using WorldView-2 satellite imagery. Based on the Levenberg-Marquardt method calibrated the parameters of non-linear inversion model and the multiple-linear regression model was applied to calibrate the log-linear inversion model. In order to calibrate both models, Single Beam Echo Sounding (SBES) data in this study area were used as reference points. Residuals were calculated as the difference between the derived depth values and the validation echo sounder bathymetry data and the geographical distribution of model residuals was mapped. The spatial autocorrelation was calculated by comparing the performance of the bathymetric models and the results showing the geographic errors for both models. A spatial error model was constructed from the initial bathymetry estimates and the estimates of autocorrelation. This spatial error model is used to generate more reliable estimates of bathymetry by quantifying autocorrelation of model error and incorporating this into an improved regression model. Log-linear model (R²=0.846) performs better than the non- linear model (R²=0.692). Finally, the spatial error models improved bathymetric estimates derived from linear and non-linear models up to R²=0.854 and R²=0.704 respectively. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) was calculated for all reference points in various depth ranges. The magnitude of the prediction error increases with depth for both the log-linear and the non-linear inversion models. Overall RMSE for log-linear and the non-linear inversion models were ±1.532 m and ±2.089 m, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=log-linear%20model" title="log-linear model">log-linear model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi%20spectral" title=" multi spectral"> multi spectral</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residuals" title=" residuals"> residuals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20error%20model" title=" spatial error model "> spatial error model </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90872/derivation-of-bathymetry-from-high-resolution-satellite-images-comparison-of-empirical-methods-through-geographical-error-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90872.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">297</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29784</span> Synthesis and Characterization of Cyclic PNC-28 Peptide, Residues 17–26 (ETFSDLWKLL), A Binding Domain of p53</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Deepshikha%20Verma">Deepshikha Verma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=V.%20N.%20Rajasekharan%20Pillai"> V. Firstly, QFD is used to determine business requirements and transform them into business and supply chain programs. From the QFD, technical scores of all programs are obtained. All programs are then evaluated through five criteria (productivity, quality, cost, technical score, and feasibility). Sets of weight of these criteria are built using Sensitivity Analysis. Multi-Objective Linear Programming model is applied to select suitable programs according to multiple conflicting objectives under a budget constraint. A case study from the Sai Gon-Mien Tay Beer Company is given to illustrate the proposed methodology. The outcome of the study provides a comprehensive picture for companies to select suitable programs to obtain the optimal solution according to their preference. <p
