If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>For not even His brothers were believing in Him. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Therefore Jesus says to them, <span class="red">“My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>The world is not able to hate you; but it hates Me, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>You go up to the feast. I am not<span class="fn"><a href="#fna" title="NE, WH, BYZ and TR ‘I am not yet’">a</a></span> going up to this feast, for My time has not yet been fulfilled.”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Now having said these things to them, He remained in Galilee. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>But when His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He also went up—not openly, but as in secret. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Therefore the Jews were seeking Him at the feast, and were saying, “Where is He?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And there was much murmuring about Him among the crowds. For some were saying, “He is good.”</p><p class="reg"> But others were saying, “No, but He deceives the people.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>But no one was speaking publicly about Him, because of the fear of the Jews. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And of the feast now being in the middle, Jesus went up into the temple and was teaching. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Then the Jews were marveling, saying, “How does this one know <i>such</i> writings, not having studied?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Therefore Jesus answered them and said, <span class="red">“My teaching is not of Myself, but of the <i>One</i> having sent Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>If anyone desires to do His will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is from God, or I speak from Myself. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>The <i>one</i> speaking from himself seeks the own glory, but the <i>One</i> seeking the glory of the <i>One</i> having sent Him, He is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.</span> </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Has not Moses given to you the Law, and none of you keeps the Law? Why do you seek to kill Me?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>The crowd answered, “You have a demon. Who seeks to kill You?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Jesus answered and said to them, <span class="red">“I did one work, and you all marvel. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Because of the fact that Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers) also on <i>the</i> Sabbath you circumcise a man. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>If a man receives circumcision on <i>the</i> Sabbath so that the Law of Moses might not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made a man entirely sound on the Sabbath? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Do not judge according to appearance, but judge the righteous judgment.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">Is Jesus the Christ?</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Therefore some of those of Jerusalem were saying, “Is this not whom they seek to kill? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And behold, He speaks publicly, and they say nothing ever to Him. Have the rulers truly recognized that this is the Christ? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>But we know this <i>man</i>, where He is from. But the Christ, whenever He may come, no one knows where He is from.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>Therefore Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, <span class="red">“You know Me and you know where I am from. And I have not come of Myself, but the <i>One</i> having sent Me is true, whom you do not know. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>But I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>Therefore they were seeking to take Him, but no one laid the hand upon Him, because His hour had not yet come. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>Yet many out of the crowd believed in Him and were saying, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than this <i>man</i> has done?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers, that they might seize Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>Therefore Jesus said, <span class="red">“Yet a little time I am with you, and I go to the <i>One</i> having sent Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>You will seek Me and will not find Me; and where I am, you are not able to come.”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>Therefore the Jews said among themselves, “Where is He about to go that we will not find Him? Is He about to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and to teach the Greeks? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span>What is this word that He said, <span class="red">‘You will seek Me, and will not find Me,’</span> and <span class="red">‘Where I am you are not able to come’</span>?” </p><p class="hdg">Living Water</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>Now in the last day of the feast, the great <i>day</i>, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, <span class="red">“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>The <i>one</i> believing in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.’”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>Now He said this concerning the Spirit, whom those having believed in Him were about to receive; for <i>the</i> Spirit was not yet <i>given</i>, because Jesus was not yet glorified. </p><p class="hdg">Division Regarding Jesus</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>Therefore having heard these words, <i>some</i> of the people were saying, “This is truly the Prophet.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-41.htm"><b>41</b></a></span>Others were saying, “This is the Christ.”</p><p class="reg"> But others were saying, “Surely the Christ does not come out of Galilee? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-42.htm"><b>42</b></a></span>Has not the Scripture said that Christ comes out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-43.htm"><b>43</b></a></span>Therefore a division occurred in the crowd because of Him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-44.htm"><b>44</b></a></span>Now some of them desired to seize Him, but no one laid the hands on Him. </p><p class="hdg">Unbelief of the Jewish Leaders</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-45.htm"><b>45</b></a></span>Therefore the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-46.htm"><b>46</b></a></span>The officers answered, “Never has a man spoken like this, as this man speaks.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-47.htm"><b>47</b></a></span>Therefore the Pharisees answered them, “Have you also been deceived? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-48.htm"><b>48</b></a></span>Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on Him? <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-49.htm"><b>49</b></a></span>But this crowd, not knowing the Law, are accursed.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-50.htm"><b>50</b></a></span>Nicodemus, the <i>one</i> having come to Him, the former being one of them, says to them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-51.htm"><b>51</b></a></span>“Does our Law judge the man unless first it has heard from him and known what he does?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/7-52.htm"><b>52</b></a></span>They answered and said to him, “Are you not also from Galilee?
