This situation constitutes a good scenario for new noise control approaches that take into account the sound variable and citizens empowering in urban design, such as the soundscape assessment of urban territory. In this way, soundscape tools have been used in Granada as a complementary method for environmental noise characterisation where traditional noise control techniques are difficult to be carried out or give limited results. After 2016 strategic noise map and in the preparation of the new noise action plan, the city came across a great acoustic challenge in a new area located outskirts characterised by growing urbanisation, still under development, the greatest legal protection because of sensitive teaching and hospital buildings and the greatest noise exposure from nearby ringway supporting heavy traffic flow. As quiet urban areas are not characterised by the absence of noise but for the presence of the right noise, this research intended to provide the local administration with results and proposals to transform this conflict area in a pleasant or quiet urban place. JAHRESTAGUNG FÜR AKUSTIK, 2023</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Over the recent years, it became more evident in soundscape studies realised in urban parks the importance of natural sound sources as a restorative resource for human health and well-being. This study investigates psychoacoustic and bioacoustics patterns of natural sound sources in urban soundscapes to understand and enhance restorative environments. Four areas with garden and park functionalities in Aachen, Germany, were investigated. In one of the surveyed areas, it is possible to verify seasonality differences. Sound classification is possible with the help of Machine Learning techniques, subdividing the recordings’ sound sources into anthropogenic, geophonic, and biophonic sounds. Subjective responses help with the sound quality information of these sound sources. After the categorisation of sound sources, psychoacoustic and bioacoustics indicators are analysed. This line of research highlights the importance of context in the perception of acoustic environments. Despite this, few studies consider together a wide number of variables relating to the context, and analyse the relative importance of each. The purpose of this paper is therefore to identify the acoustic and non-acoustic characteristics of a place (context) that influence an individual's perception of the sound environment and the relative importance of these factors in soundscape. The aim is to continue advancing in the definition of an acoustic comfort indicator for urban places. The data used here were collected in various soundscape campaigns carried out by Tecnalia in Bilbao (Spain) between 2011 and 2014. These studies involved 534 evaluations of 10 different places. The results indicate that many diverse contextual factors determine soundscape, the most important being the congruence between soundscape and landscape. Zandieh area of Shiraz as one of the historic context shaped during the ages hase been chosen in order to obtain a proper response to the individual's perception of urban historic spaces soundscape. The main object of this manuscript achieves a sufficient way in order to organize urban soundscape by utilizing assessments and perception data perceived by users. METHODS: The narrative interview method (a sample group of 129 users who were active in space for more than 30 minutes) and behavior observation which are subsets of the sound walking technique have been used; Also, the data which were collected in the previous stage, based on the components of the Kano model, were categorized into three categories of basic, performance and attractiveness. FINDINGS: With regard to the findings and assessments in the case study, it can be inferred that 69% of the urban space's users perceive noises such as underpass fans' noise more than any others; Consequently, this has led to the lack of acceptance by space users; Also, it was cleared by interviewing listeners in urban space that 59% of the interviewees have preferred natural Sounds to human and 76% preferred tranquility at the urban environment While only 11% of the users preferred the development of a vibrant space. CONCLUSION: Base on that strategies such as planting vegetation in order to prevent the street noise, allocating water bodies in order to have water sound with proper shading and a Desirable view of historical spaces to increase the sense of richness have been presented.
