class="item_name"></div><h1>Cigna Healthcare Contract Negotiations with Memorial Healthcare System</h1> <h2>What You Need to Know</h2> <h4>October 2023</h4> <div> <p>Cigna Healthcare has been negotiating with Memorial Healthcare System to reach agreement on a new contract that will keep healthcare affordable for you and your family. We wanted to make you aware that Memorial Healthcare System facilities listed below will leave the Cigna Healthcare network effective January 1, 2024.</p> <p>This is not what we want. We have had a positive relationship with Memorial Healthcare System, and we want them to stay in our network. </p> <p>We remain committed to keeping healthcare affordable for those we serve. This is especially important as you and your family are dealing with inflation and rising costs of care. While our contract negotiations with Memorial Healthcare System continue, we want you to be aware of what this means and actions you may need to take.</p> <h3>Why is this happening?</h3> <p>We recognize that Memorial Healthcare System, like many health care providers across the country, is facing labor shortages and inflation, and that these factors contribute to cost pressures, but we have a responsibility to keep your health care affordable. The Cigna Healthcare team has been working hard to renew our contract with Memorial Healthcare System. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we haven’t reached an agreement yet. We have a longstanding relationship with Memorial Healthcare System to provide care to this community and we would like to keep them in our network, but only at fair, affordable rates. The issue is their price. Bottom line, Memorial Healthcare System wants you to pay more than what is normal in the area. Health care already costs too much and Memorial Healthcare System is trying to make it even more expensive.</p> <h3>What does this mean for me?</h3> <p>Consider who pays Memorial Healthcare System’s bills. Almost all of Cigna Healthcare’s business with Memorial Healthcare System is through employer-sponsored plans that are self-funded. That means the actual cost of health care services is directly paid by employers, their employees and their families through payroll deductions. When the underlying cost of care goes up, employers and customers ultimately pay more. </p> <h3>Who will be affected?</h3> <p>If Memorial Healthcare System leaves our network, our OAP, PPO, IFP, LocalPlus and SureFit members will be affected, and any services delivered by these providers would be covered at an out-of-network benefit level (if your plan has out-of-network benefits).
