I started designing it in 1994 primarily to make glyphs available to support the non-Han characters in Unicode and ISO/IEC 10646, though I hope that users may find it a pleasant alternative to Courier and Monaco for general purposes, e-mail, and so forth. I have found it quite legible at sizes as small as 4 points. It is lighter and a bit looser than Courier. The current version of Everson Mono is 7.0.0, dated 2014-12-04. The beta version of Everson Mono is 7.0.1b, dated 2014-12-10. The beta version contains characters which are under ballot but have not been officially approved. For support, you may subscribe to <a href="http://www.evertype.com/mailman/listinfo/eversonmono_evertype.com" target="_new">the Everson Mono discussion list.</a>. Subscribers who apply for membership must use their real names. In addition, upon acceptance all subscribers will be asked to introduce themselves to the list with a few sentences describing their interest. You'll be moderated until you do this. This is designed to help minimize spam. Development of this font is ongoing. For a long while Everson Mono lay fallow, because of the transition from 8-bit to Unicode fonts, and then due to my own busyness working on <a href="http://www.evertype.com/formal.html" target="_new">the encoding of the world's writing systems</a>. Everson Mono should work now on Unicode-compliant operating systems and with Unicode-compliant applications. In June 2012 a bold oblique face was added to Everson Mono. In March 2012 a bold face was added to Everson Mono. In January 2012 a .woff webfont version was prepared for testing. In July 2010 an oblique face was added to Everson Mono.
