<p>CHIMIA is a international, peer-reviewed, scientific journal for the chemical sciences in the broadest sense published by the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS). CHIMIA is a platinum Open Access journal with free access to the online published articles for the reader and with no publication fees for the authors of peer-reviewed scientific articles; authors retain the copyright to their work. Authors may deposit all versions (preprint, author's accepted manuscript, published article (Version of Record)) of their paper in an institutional or subject repository. There is no embargo.</p> <p>Each issue of CHIMIA is devoted to a special topic of current significance or interest in chemistry or related sciences. Special topic issues are coordinated by a guest editor, who invites authors to contribute. Contributions from all fields of chemistry and related areas are also considered for publication in the form of Notes. Columns, Community News, Events, and CHIMIA Report/Company News complete each issue. Membership of the Swiss Chemical Society, or in one of the organizations named in the masthead (impressum), is not a prerequisite for the acceptance of a manuscript. The decision to accept a contribution rests with the Editorial Committee of CHIMIA.</p> <p>CHIMIA is published 10 times a year.</p> <h2>Indexing</h2> <p>CHIMIA is listed in the most important databases: </p> <ul> <li>Chemical Abstracts SciFinder</li> <li>Web of Science Core Collection</li> <li>Current Contents/Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences</li> <li>Scopus</li> <li>Reaxys</li> <li>PubMed</li> <li>Dimensions</li> <li>Google Scholar</li> <li>Directory of Open Access Journals</li> <li>CORE</li> <li>BASE</li> <li>OpenAlex</li> </ul> <h2>Open Access</h2> <p>CHIMIA is a platinum Open Access journal operating under the licence CC BY 4.0 (<a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/">https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/</a>). There are no Article Processing fees or submission charges for authors of peer-reviewed scientific articles. The authors retain the copyright of their work and allow it to be shared and reused, provided that it is correctly cited. Authors may deposit all versions (preprint, author's accepted manuscript, published article (Version of Record)) of their paper in an institutional or subject repository. There is no embargo.</p> <h2>Publication Ethics</h2> <p>CHIMIA along with other scientific publications have a responsibility to assess and publish articles that follow strict ethical guidelines. Our aim at CHIMIA is to follow the guidelines as set out by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).<sup><a href="#cope">[1]</a></sup> Authors, editors and reviewers should always act with integrity to ensure that ethical standards are met. Failure to do so can harm the reputation of the journal and be detrimental to the careers of researchers.</p> <h4>Responsibilities of Authors</h4> <p>It is the responsibility of all authors to ensure that the work is their own and it is not reproduced from other people’s publications or work. CHIMIA is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that does not generally publish original experimental research, but rather overviews of author’s research areas. It is important that any work that is reproduced from previous publications has the permission from the authors and copyright holders. All authors listed should also have made a significant contribution and agree with all claims.</p> <h4>Responsibilities of Reviewers</h4> <p>Peer reviewers are also expected to follow the ethical guidelines and the document should remain confidential and the information should not be utilized to benefit the reviewer. Any conflicts of interest with the authors should be declared by the reviewers.</p> <p>The reviewing process should be performed regardless of the authors standings or affiliations and should be based entirely at a professional level.</p> <h4>Responsibilities of Editors</h4> <p>It is the responsibility of the editors to ensure the processes are carried out in a proper manner and to ensure that the published material is suitable and of value.</p> <h2>AI Guidelines for Preparing Manuscripts for <em>CHIMIA</em></h2> <p>Artificial intelligence (AI) natural language processing tools such as ChatGPT are permitted as aids for preparing a manuscript. The tool may not be listed as an author on a submitted manuscript as AI tools do not fulfil the criteria required to qualify for authorship. If AI tools are employed for generating text in Reviews, Conference Reports or other articles, or for producing figures, this must be clearly stated in the manuscript in the Acknowledgments section. Authors should include all tool details, including the program version and for which parts of the article the tool has been used. Authors are held responsible for the content of their Review, Note, Report or other articles. Authors must rigorously check any parts generated by an AI tool; verifying references generated by an AI tool is particularly important.
