none<MH3808> of his <i>descendants,</i> even<MH1571> to the tenth<MH6224> generation<MH1755>, may enter<MH935> the assembly<MH6951> of the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>No<MH3808> Ammonite<MH5984> or Moabite<MH4125> may enter<MH935> the assembly<MH6951> of the LORD<MH3068>; none<MH3808> of their <i>descendants,</i> even<MH1571> to the tenth<MH6224> generation<MH1755>, may ever<MH5704, 5769> enter<MH935> the assembly<MH6951> of the LORD<MH3068>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>because<MH5921, 1697, 834> they did not meet<MH6923> you with <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>food<MH3899> and water<MH4325> on the way<MH1870> when you came<MH3318> out<MH3318> of Egypt<MH4714>, and because<MH834> they hired<MH7936> against<MH5921> you Balaam<MH1109a> the son<MH1121> of Beor<MH1160> from Pethor<MH6604a> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>Mesopotamia<MH763>, to curse<MH7043> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Nevertheless, the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> was unwilling<MH3808, 14> to listen<MH8085> to Balaam<MH1109a>, but the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> turned<MH2015> the curse<MH7045> into a blessing<MH1293> for you because<MH3588> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> loves<MH157> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>You shall never<MH3808, 5769> seek<MH1875> their peace<MH7965> or their prosperity<MH2899b> all<MH3605> your days<MH3117>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>“You shall not loathe<MH8581> an <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>Edomite<MH130>, for he is your brother<MH251>; you shall not loathe<MH8581> an Egyptian<MH4713>, because<MH3588> you were a stranger<MH1616> in his land<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>The sons<MH1121> of the third<MH7992> generation<MH1755> who<MH834> are born<MH3205> to them may enter<MH935> the assembly<MH6951> of the LORD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>“When<MH3588> you go<MH3318> out<MH3318> as <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>an army<MH4264> against<MH5921> your enemies<MH340>, you shall be on guard<MH8104> against<MH4480> every<MH3605> evil<MH7451a> thing<MH1697>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>“If<MH3588> there is among you any<MH376> man<MH376> who<MH834> is unclean<MH3808, 2889> because<MH4480> of a nocturnal<MH3915> emission<MH7137>, then he must go<MH3318> outside<MH413, 4480, 2351> the camp<MH4264>; he may not <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>reenter<MH935, 8432> the camp<MH4264>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>But when evening<MH6153> approaches<MH6437>, he shall bathe<MH7364> himself with water<MH4325>, and at sundown<MH8121, 935> he may <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>reenter<MH935, 8432> the camp<MH4264>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>“You shall also have<MH1961> a place<MH3027> <i>allocated</i> outside<MH4480, 2351> the camp<MH4264>, so that you may go<MH3318> out<MH3318> there<MH8033> <i>to relieve yourself,</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>and you shall have<MH1961> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>spade<MH3489> among<MH5921> your tools<MH240>, and it shall be when you sit<MH3427> down<MH3427> outside<MH2351>, you shall dig<MH2658> with it and shall turn<MH7725> and cover<MH3680> up<MH3680> your excrement<MH6627>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Since<MH3588> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> walks<MH1980> in the midst<MH7130> of your camp<MH4264> to save<MH5337> you and to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>defeat<MH5414> your enemies<MH340> before<MH6440> you, your camp<MH4264> must be holy<MH6918>; so He must not see<MH7200> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>anything<MH1697> indecent<MH6172> among you <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>or He will turn<MH7725> away<MH7725> from you. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>“You shall not hand<MH5462> over<MH5462> to his master<MH113> a slave<MH5650> who<MH834> has <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>escaped<MH5337> from his master<MH113> to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>He shall live<MH3427> with you in your midst<MH7130>, in the place<MH4725> that he chooses<MH977> in one<MH259> of your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>towns<MH8179> where it pleases<MH2896a> him; you shall not mistreat<MH3238> him. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>“None<MH3808> of the daughters<MH1323> of Israel<MH3478> shall be a cult<MH6945> prostitute<MH6945>, nor<MH3808> shall any<MH4480> of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> be a cult<MH6945> prostitute<MH6945>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>You shall not bring<MH935> the earnings<MH868> of a prostitute<MH2181> or the money<MH4242> for a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>dog<MH3611> into the house<MH1004> of the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> <i>as payment</i> for any<MH3605> vowed<MH5088> offering<MH5088>, because<MH3588> both<MH1571, 8147> of these are an abomination<MH8441> to the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>“You are not to charge<MH5391b> interest<MH5391b> to your countrymen<MH251>: interest<MH5392> on money<MH3701>, food<MH400>, <i>or</i> anything<MH3605, 1697> that may be loaned<MH5391b> on<MH5391b> interest<MH5391b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>You may charge<MH5391b> interest<MH5391b> to a foreigner<MH5237>, but to your countrymen<MH251> you shall not charge<MH5391b> interest<MH5391b>, so<MH4616> that<MH4616> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> may bless<MH1288> you in all<MH3605> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>that you undertake<MH3027, 4916a> in the land<MH776> which<MH834> you are about to enter<MH935> to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>possess<MH3423>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>“When<MH3588> you make<MH5087> a vow<MH5088> to the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>, you shall not delay<MH309> to pay<MH7999a> it, for the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> will certainly<MH1875> require<MH1875> it of you, and it will be a sin<MH2399> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>for you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>However, if<MH3588> you refrain<MH2308> from making<MH5087> vows<MH5087>, it will not be a sin<MH2399> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>for you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>You shall be<MH8104> careful<MH8104> and perform<MH6213a> what<MH4161> goes<MH4161> out<MH4161> of your lips<MH8193>, since<MH3512c> in<MH3512c> fact<MH3512c> you have vowed<MH5087> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>voluntary<MH5071> offering<MH5071> to the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>, whatever<MH834> you have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>promised<MH1696>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/deuteronomy/23-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>“When<MH3588> you enter<MH935> your neighbor’s<MH7453> vineyard<MH3754>, you may eat<MH398> grapes<MH6025> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>until you are satisfied<MH7648>;
