What, therefore, God joined together, let not man put asunder."<Fr> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>They say to Him, "Why, then, did Moses command to give <i>her</i> a bill of divorcement, and to put <i>her</i> away?" <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>He saith to them, <FR>"Moses, in view of the hardness of your heart, permitted you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it has not been so.<Fr> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><FR>And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, commits adultery."<Fr><p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>The disciples say to Him, "If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry." <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>But He said to them, <FR>"Not all can receive this saying, but <i>those</i> to whom it has been given;<Fr> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><FR>for there are eunuchs who were so born from <i>their</i> mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. One is the Good. But, if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."<Fr> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>He says to Him, "Which?" And Jesus said, <FR>"You shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witness;<Fr> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><FR>honor your father and your mother; and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself."<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>The young man says to Him, "I observed all these things; what yet do I lack?" <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Jesus said to him, <FR>"If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me."<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>But the young man, having heard this saying, went away grieved; for he was one who had large possessions.<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And Jesus said to His disciples, <FR>"Verily I say to you, that with difficulty shall a rich man enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.<Fr> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span><FR>And again I say to you, It <i>is</i> easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God."<Fr> <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/19-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And the disciples, having heard it, were amazed exceedingly, saying, "Who, then, can be saved?
