Three setback structures, all 60-story high with setback in three levels, are used for evaluation. The effects of irregularities occurred by setback, are evaluated by determination of global-drift, story-displacement and story drift. Story-displacement is modified by roof displacement and first story displacement and story drift is modified by global drift. All results are calculated at the center of mass and in x and y direction. Also the absolute values of these quantities are determined. The results show that increasing of vertical irregularities increases the global drift of the structure and enlarges the deformations in the height of the structure. It is also observed that the effects of geometry irregularity in the seismic deformations of setback structures are higher than those of mass irregularity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deformation%20demand" title="deformation demand">deformation demand</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drift" title=" drift"> drift</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=setback" title=" setback"> setback</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tall%20building" title=" tall building"> tall building</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22134/estimation-of-seismic-deformation-demands-of-tall-buildings-with-symmetric-setbacks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22134.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">424</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">43</span> Biodegradable Elastic Polymers Are Used to Create Stretchable Piezoresistive Strain Sensors</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mostafa%20Vahdani">Mostafa Vahdani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohsen%20Asadnia"> Mohsen Asadnia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shuying%20Wu"> Shuying Wu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Huge amounts of e-waste are being produced by the rapidly expanding use of electronics; the majority of this material is either burned or dumped directly in landfills since recycling would either be impracticable or too expensive. Degradable and environmentally friendly materials are therefore seen as the answer to this urgent problem. Here, we create strain sensors that are biodegradable, robust, and incredibly flexible using thin films of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC), glycerol, and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). Due to the creation of many inter- or intramolecular hydrogen bonds, the polymer blends (NaCMC/PVA/glycerol) exhibit a failure strain of up to 330% and negligible hysteresis when exposed to cyclic stretching-releasing. What's more intriguing is that the sensors can degrade completely in deionized water at a temperature of 95 °C in about 25 minutes. This project illustrates a novel method for developing wearable electronics that are environmentally beneficial. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=degradable" title="degradable">degradable</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stretchable" title=" stretchable"> stretchable</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=strain%20sensors" title=" strain sensors"> strain sensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wearable%20electronics." title=" wearable electronics."> wearable electronics.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168793/biodegradable-elastic-polymers-are-used-to-create-stretchable-piezoresistive-strain-sensors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168793.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">116</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">42</span> Assessment of the Energy Balance Method in the Case of Masonry Domes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20M.%20Sadeghi">M. The seismic assessment of these historical structures is very complicated due to the nonlinear behavior of the material, their rigidness, and special stability configuration. The assessment method based on energy balance concept, as well as the standard pushover analysis, is used to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods in the case of masonry dome structures. The Soltanieh dome building is used as an example to which two methods are applied. The performance points are given from superimposing the capacity, and demand curves in Acceleration Displacement Response Spectra (ADRS) and energy coordination are compared with the nonlinear time history analysis as the exact result. The results show a good agreement between the dynamic analysis and the energy balance method, but standard pushover method does not provide an acceptable estimation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20balance%20method" title="energy balance method">energy balance method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pushover%20analysis" title=" pushover analysis"> pushover analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time%20history%20analysis" title=" time history analysis"> time history analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=masonry%20dome" title=" masonry dome"> masonry dome</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58811/assessment-of-the-energy-balance-method-in-the-case-of-masonry-domes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58811.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">281</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">41</span> Hiding Power of the Scent in Marketing and New Marketing Strategy: The Scent Marketing</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Keshavarzi">Shahram Keshavarzi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Today, getting good service, having a good time, and leaving the company with good feelings are importanttforbothcustomers and businesses. Vahdani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> By the adsorption of polar compounds and/or the deposition of organic material, the wettability of originally water-wet reservoir rock can be altered. The degree of alteration is determined by the interaction of the oil constituents, the mineral surface, and the brine chemistry. Recently improving oil recovery by tuning wettability alteration is believed as a new recovery method. Various researchers have demonstrated that low salt water injection has a significant impact on oil recovery. It has been shown, for instance, that additional oil can be produced from reservoir rock by managing the injection water. Large wettability sensitivity has been observed, indicating that the oil/water capillary pressure profiles play a major role during low saline water injection simulation. Although the exact physics on how this alteration occurs is still a research topic; however, it has been reported that some of its effect can be captured by a relative permeability shift from an oil-wet system to a water-wet system. Modeling of low salt water injection mainly is based on the theory of wettability alteration and is hence strongly dependent on the wettability of the reservoir. In this article, combination of different wettabilities has been simulated and it is observed that the highest recoveries were from the cases were the reservoir initially was water-wet, and the lowest recoveries was from the cases were the reservoir initially was considered oil-wet. However for the cases where the reservoir initially was oil-wet, the effect of low-salinity waterflooding was the largest. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20salt%20water%20injection" title="low salt water injection">low salt water injection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wettability%20alteration" title=" wettability alteration"> wettability alteration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modelling" title=" modelling"> modelling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relative%20permeability" title=" relative permeability"> relative permeability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33827/effect-of-wettability-alteration-in-low-salt-water-injection-modeling" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/33827.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">495</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">39</span> Interaction of Water Stress and VA Mycorrhizal Inoculation on Green Bean under Different P Levels</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Baghban%20Cirus">Shahram Baghban Cirus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parisa%20Alizadeh%20Oskuie"> Parisa Alizadeh Oskuie</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In a greenhouse experiment, green bean were inoculated with three levels of phosphorus (P1, P2, P3, respectively 0, 50, 100 kgP/h) and four levels of water stress(Fc1, Fc2, Fc3 ,Fc4, respectively 0.8Fc, 0.7Fc, 0.6Fc, 0.5Fc) and one species of VA mycorrhiza (Glomus versiform) or left uninocolated as control plants in the steril soil. Long-term growth patterns, captured by Gompertz and Weibull models, indicate an S-shaped trend in cumulative BIP counts, pointing toward a maturation phase in Bitcoin’s protocol. Our findings suggest that Bitcoin may be entering a stable stage, with fewer fundamental changes and more incremental enhancements. This trend highlights the need for further research into BIP content and more studies into its dynamics to better understand decentralized protocol governance and maturation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bitcoin%20improvement%20proposals" title="bitcoin improvement proposals">bitcoin improvement proposals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation%20management" title=" innovation management"> innovation management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=change%20point%20detection" title=" change point detection"> change point detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systems%20modeling" title=" systems modeling"> systems modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation" title=" simulation"> simulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194645/analyzing-the-evolution-and-maturation-of-bitcoin-improvement-proposals" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194645.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">7</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">34</span> Overview of a Quantum Model for Decision Support in a Sensor Network</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Payandeh">Shahram Payandeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents an overview of a model which can be used as a part of a decision support system when fusing information from multiple sensing environment. Numerical studies are an important part of impact, which several researchers have tried to simulate the impact by using different formulas. Estimation of the impact force and the dissipated energy depends significantly on some parameters of impact. Mass of bodies, stiffness of spring, coefficient of restitution, damping ratio of dashpot and impact velocity are some known and unknown parameters to simulate the impact and measure dissipated energy during collision. Collision is usually shown by force-displacement hysteresis curve. The enclosed area of the hysteresis loop explains the dissipated energy during impact. In this paper, the effect of using different types of impact models is investigated in order to calculate the impact force. To increase the accuracy of impact model and to optimize the results of simulations, a new damping equation is assumed and is validated to get the best results of impact force and dissipated energy, which can show the accuracy of suggested equation of motion in comparison with other formulas. This relation is called "n-m". Based on mathematical relation, an initial value is selected for the mentioned coefficients and kinetic energy loss is calculated. After each simulation, kinetic energy loss and energy dissipation are compared with each other. If they are equal, selected parameters are true and, if not, the constant of parameters are modified and a new analysis is performed. Finally, two unknown parameters are suggested to estimate the impact force and calculate the dissipated energy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20force" title="impact force">impact force</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dissipated%20energy" title=" dissipated energy"> dissipated energy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kinetic%20energy%20loss" title=" kinetic energy loss"> kinetic energy loss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=damping%20relation" title=" damping relation "> damping relation </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14416/prediction-of-pounding-between-two-sdof-systems-by-using-link-element-based-on-mathematic-relations-and-suggestion-of-new-equation-for-impact-damping-ratio" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14416.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">552</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">32</span> MHC Class II DRB1 Gene Polymorphism in Lori Sheep Breed</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Nanekarani">Shahram Nanekarani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Majid%20Goodarzi"> Majid Goodarzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Majid%20Khosravi"> Majid Khosravi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present study aimed at analyzing of ovine major histocompatibility complex class II (Ovar II) DRB1 gene second exon in Lori Sheep breed. The MHC plays a central role in the control of disease resistance and immunological response. Genomic DNA from blood samples of 124 sheep was extracted and a 296 bp MHC exon 2 fragment was amplified using polymerase chain reaction. PCR products were characterized by the restriction fragment length polymorphism technique using Hin1I restriction enzyme. The PCRRFLP patterns showed three genotypes, AA, AB and BB with frequency of 0.282, 0.573 and 0.145, respectively. There was no significant (P > 0.05) deviation from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium for this locus in this population. The results of the present study indicate that exon 2 of the Ovar-DRB1 gene is highly polymorphic in Lori sheep and could be considered as an important marker assisted selection, for improvement of immunity in sheep. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MHC-DRB1%20gene" title="MHC-DRB1 gene">MHC-DRB1 gene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polymorphism" title=" polymorphism"> polymorphism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PCR-RFLP" title=" PCR-RFLP"> PCR-RFLP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lori%20sheep" title=" lori sheep"> lori sheep</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46341/mhc-class-ii-drb1-gene-polymorphism-in-lori-sheep-breed" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46341.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">420</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">31</span> Non-Singular Gravitational Collapse of a Dust Cloud in Einstein-Cartan Theory</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Hadi%20Ziaie">Amir Hadi Ziaie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mostafa%20Hashemi"> Mostafa Hashemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Jalalzadeh"> Shahram Jalalzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> It is now known that the end state of the collapse process of a dense star under its own gravity is the formation of a spacetime singularity. This is the spacetime event where the energy density and spacetime curvature diverge, and the classical general relativity breaks down. As we know, a realistic star is composed of fermions so that their spin effects could alter the final fate of the collapse scenario. The underlying theory within which the inclusion of spin effects can be worked out is the Einstein-Cartan theory. In this theory, the spacetime torsion which is defined as a geometrical quantity, is related to an intrinsic angular momentum of fermions (spin). In this work, we study the collapse process of a homogeneous spin fluid in such a framework and show that taking into account the spin effects of the collapsing cloud could prevent the formation of spacetime singularity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gravitational%20collapse" title="gravitational collapse">gravitational collapse</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=einstein-cartan%20theory" title=" einstein-cartan theory"> einstein-cartan theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spacetime%20singularity" title=" spacetime singularity"> spacetime singularity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=black%20hole%20physics" title=" black hole physics"> black hole physics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50866/non-singular-gravitational-collapse-of-a-dust-cloud-in-einstein-cartan-theory" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/50866.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">398</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">30</span> Polymorphism of Candidate Genes for Meat Production in Lori Sheep </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Nanekarania">Shahram Nanekarania</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Majid%20Goodarzia"> Majid Goodarzia</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Calpastatin and callipyge have been known as one of the candidate genes in meat quality and quantity. Geometric averages of horizontal peak ground accelerations (PGA) as well as 5% damped linear elastic response spectral accelerations (SA) at periods of 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 sec are used as strong motion parameters. The initial database is divided into two different datasets, for Northern Iran (NI) and Central and Southern Iran (CSI). Thus influencing factors on children’s eating behavior such as mothers’ feeding practices are needed to be more investigated. The goals of this survey are to evaluate the association of (i) parental pressure and children’s food avoidant tendency, (ii) parental restriction and children’s food approach tendency, (iii) modeling of healthy eating in front of children and their children’s eating behavior. 760 mothers of children aged 7-10 from schools in Isfahan were asked to complete questionnaires including Child Feeding Questionnaire, Children’s Eating Behavior Questionnaire, Modeling Questionnaire, and self-administered demographic questionnaire in which mothers reported their children’s height and weight as well. Of those mothers, 745 completed the questionnaires for the children’s index (mean age: 8.513±1.112) during the 2011-2012 school year. The results of this quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional analysis indicated that “parental restriction” was positively associated with child food responsiveness (P,0.000) and food enjoyment (P,0.000) and surprisingly, it was positively associated with Food Fussiness(0.000) .Parental pressure to eat was positively associated with child satiety responsiveness (P,0.000), slowness (P,0.000), and fussiness (P,0.00) and negatively associated with Food responsiveness(p,0.000)and Enjoyment of food (p,0.002), modeling of healthy eating were positively associated with Enjoyment of food / q (p,0.000) and negatively with food fussiness (P,0.000). Here, we consider systems in which a square object is submerged in a channel of fluid and moves parallel to the wall. The corresponding added mass at a given distance from the wall d and for the object size s (which is the side of square object) is calculated via lattice Blotzmann simulation . By changing d and s separately, their effect on the added mass is studied systematically. The simulation results reveal that for the systems in which d > 4s, the distance does not influence the added mass any more. The added mass increases when the object approaches the wall and reaches its maximum value as it moves on the wall (d -- > 0). In this case, the added mass is about 73% larger than which of the case d=4s. Thirty female overweight (BMI ≥ 25) voluntarily participated in our study. Subjects were randomly assigned to one of two groups: Endurance training or control group. Training group exercised for 12 weeks, three sessions a week with definite intensity and distance. Pre and post 12 weeks of endurance training blood samples were taken (5cc) in fasting state from all subjects. Data was analyzed via independent t test (p≤0.05). The results showed that endurance training had significant effect on VCAM, body weight, fat percentage, BMI and maximum oxygen consumption (p ≤ 0.05). Characterization of the resulting CD@MIL-88B(Fe) was conducted using various analytical methods, including X-ray-based microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, UV–Vis, FT-IR, DRS, TGA, and photoluminescence (PL) analysis. The adsorbent demonstrated significant photocatalytic activity, achieving up to 92% and 90% removal of amphotericin B (AmB) and naproxen (Nap) from aqueous solutions under visible light, with an RSD value of around 5%. The study explored the factors influencing the degradation of pharmaceuticals and determined the optimal conditions for the process, including pH values of 3 and 4 for AmB and Nap, a photocatalyst concentration of 0.2 g L-1, and an H2O2 concentration ranging from 40 to 50 mM. Reactive oxidative species such as ⋅OH and ⋅O2 were identified through the examination of different scavengers. Additionally, the adsorption isotherm and kinetic studies revealed that the synthesized photocatalyst functions as an effective adsorbent, with maximum adsorption capacities of 42.5 and 121.5 mg g-1 for AmB and Nap, while also serving as a photocatalytic agent for removal purposes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fenton-like%20degradation" title="fenton-like degradation">fenton-like degradation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal-organic%20frameworks" title=" metal-organic frameworks"> metal-organic frameworks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heterogenous%20photocatalysts" title=" heterogenous photocatalysts"> heterogenous photocatalysts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=naproxen" title=" naproxen"> naproxen</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178142/mil-88bfe-mof-grafted-carbon-dot-nanocomposites-as-effective-photocatalysts-for-fenton-like-photodegradation-of-amphotericin-b-and-naproxen-under-visible-light-irradiation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/178142.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">22</span> Accelerated Ageing of Unidirectional Flax Fibers Reinforced Recycled Polypropylene Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lara%20Alam">Lara Alam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laetitia%20Van-Schoors"> Laetitia Van-Schoors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Olivier%20Sicot"> Olivier Sicot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Benoit%20Piezel"> Benoit Piezel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Aivazzadeh"> Shahram Aivazzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Over the last decades, worldwide environmental awareness has grown due to the depletion of raw material resources and global warming. This awareness has prompted the development of new products more environmentally friendly. Among these products are biocomposite materials reinforced with natural fibers. The main challenge in developing the use of biocomposites in exterior applications is the lack of knowledge about their durability and the evolution of their mechanical and physico-chemical properties in the long term. Few studies have been carried out on the photooxidation of unidirectional (UD) composites based on recycled matrix, which is the aim of this work. For this purpose, UD flax fiber composites based on recycled polypropylene were prepared by thermocompression. An accelerated aging test was carried out using a xenon arc WeatherOmeter. The consequences of UV exposure on the chemical composition and morphology of the surface of composites as well as on their tensile mechanical properties have been reported. The results showed that accelerated aging had a significant effect on the surface of these composites while it had little impact on their mechanical properties. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flax%20fiber" title="flax fiber">flax fiber</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photooxidation" title=" photooxidation"> photooxidation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physico-chemical%20properties" title=" physico-chemical properties"> physico-chemical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recycled%20polypropylene" title=" recycled polypropylene"> recycled polypropylene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20properties" title=" tensile properties"> tensile properties</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141984/accelerated-ageing-of-unidirectional-flax-fibers-reinforced-recycled-polypropylene-composites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141984.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">199</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21</span> The Effect of Biological Fertilizers on Yield and Yield Components of Maize with Different Levels of Chemical Fertilizers in Normal and Difficit Irrigation Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Felora%20Rafiei">Felora Rafiei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Shoaei"> Shahram Shoaei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this studies was to evaluate effect of nitroxin, super nitro plus and biophosphorus on yield and yield components of maize (Zea mays) under different levels of chemical fertilizers in the condition of normal and difficiet irrigation. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of an adjunct culture on removal of bitterness fro, Iranian white-brined cheese. The chemical and proteolysis characteristics of the cheese were also monitored. Bitter cheeses were made using overdose of clotting enzyme with and without L. helveticus CH-1 as an adjunct culture. Cheese made with normal doses of clotting enzyme was used as the control. Adjunct culture was applied in two different forms: attenuated and non-attenuated. Proteolysis was assessed by measuring the amount of water soluble nitrogen, 12% trichloroacetic acid soluble nitrogen and total free amino acids during ripening. A taste panel group also evaluated the cheeses at the end of ripening period. Results of the statistical analysis showed that the adjunct caused considerable proteolysis and the level of water soluble nitrogen and 12% soluble nitrogen fractions were found to be significantly higher in the treatment involving L. helveticus (respectively P < 0.05 and P < 0.01). Regarding to organoleptic evaluations, the non-shocked adjunct culture caused reduction in bitterness and enhancement of flavor in cheese. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bitterness" title="Bitterness">Bitterness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iranian%20white%20brined%20Cheese" title=" Iranian white brined Cheese"> Iranian white brined Cheese</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lactobacillus%20helveticus" title=" Lactobacillus helveticus"> Lactobacillus helveticus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ripening" title=" Ripening "> Ripening </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21694/lactobacillus-helveticus-as-an-adjunct-culture-for-removal-of-bitterness-in-white-brined-cheese" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21694.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">462</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">19</span> Counter-Current Extraction of Fish Oil and Toxic Elements from Fish Waste Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parvaneh%20Hajeb">Parvaneh Hajeb</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Shakibazadeh"> Shahram Shakibazadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Md.%20Zaidul%20Islam%20Sarker"> Md. The aim of this study was to develop a method to extract oil from fish wastes with the least toxic elements contamination. Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) was applied to detoxify fish oils from toxic elements. The SFE unit used consisted of an intelligent HPLC pump equipped with a cooling jacket to deliver CO2. The freeze-dried fish waste sample was extracted by heating in a column oven. Under supercritical conditions, the oil dissolved in CO2 was separated from the supercritical phase using pressure reduction. The SFE parameters (pressure, temperature, CO2 flow rate, and extraction time) were optimized using response surface methodology (RSM) to extract the highest levels of toxic elements. The results showed that toxic elements in fish oil can be reduced using supercritical CO2 at optimum pressure 40 MPa, temperature 61 ºC, CO2 flow rate 3.8 MPa, and extraction time 4.25 hr. There were significant reductions in the mercury (98.2%), cadmium (98.9%), arsenic (96%), and lead contents (99.2%) of the fish oil. The fish oil extracted using this method contained elements at levels that were much lower than the accepted limits of 0.1 μg/g. The reduction of toxic elements using the SFE method was more efficient than that of the conventional methods due to the high selectivity of supercritical CO2 for non-polar compounds. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20safety" title="food safety">food safety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=toxic%20elements" title=" toxic elements"> toxic elements</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fish%20oil" title=" fish oil"> fish oil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=supercritical%20carbon%20dioxide" title=" supercritical carbon dioxide"> supercritical carbon dioxide</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8379/counter-current-extraction-of-fish-oil-and-toxic-elements-from-fish-waste-using-supercritical-carbon-dioxide" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8379.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">423</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18</span> Modeling of the Cellular Uptake of Rigid Nanoparticles: Investigating the Influence of the Adaptation of the Cell’s Mechanical Properties during Endocytosis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sarah%20Iaquinta">Sarah Iaquinta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christophe%20Blanquart"> Christophe Blanquart</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elena%20Ishow"> Elena Ishow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sylvain%20%20Freour"> Sylvain Freour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Frederic%20Jacquemin"> Frederic Jacquemin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Khazaie"> Shahram Khazaie</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nanoparticles have recently emerged as a possible cancer treatment tool. Several formulations have been used to enhance the uptake of these nanoparticles by cancer cells and avoid their immediate clearance when administrated in vivo. Most of the previous studies focus on the investigation of the influence of the mechanical properties of the cell membrane and the particle. However, these studies do not account for the variation of adhesion and tension during the wrapping of the nanoparticle by the membrane. These couplings should be considered since the cell adapts to the interaction with the nanoparticle by, e.g., increasing the number of interactions (consequently leading to an increase of the cell membrane/nanoparticle adhesion) and by reorganizing its cytoskeleton, leading to the releasing of the tension of the cell membrane. The main contribution of this work is the proposal of a novel model for representing the cellular uptake of rigid circular nanoparticles based on an energetic model tailored to take into account the adaptation of the nanoparticle/cell membrane adhesion and of the membrane stress during wrapping. Several coupling models using sigmoidal functions are considered and compared. The study calculations revealed that the results considering constant parameters underestimated the final wrapping degree of the particle by up to 50%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adhesion" title="adhesion">adhesion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cellular%20adaptation" title=" cellular adaptation"> cellular adaptation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cellular%20uptake" title=" cellular uptake"> cellular uptake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20properties" title=" mechanical properties"> mechanical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tension" title=" tension"> tension</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138624/modeling-of-the-cellular-uptake-of-rigid-nanoparticles-investigating-the-influence-of-the-adaptation-of-the-cells-mechanical-properties-during-endocytosis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138624.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">212</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">17</span> An Ensemble Learning Method for Applying Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithms to Systems Engineering Problems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ken%20Hampshire">Ken Hampshire</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thomas%20Mazzuchi"> Thomas Mazzuchi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahram%20Sarkani"> Shahram Sarkani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As a subset of metaheuristics, nature-inspired optimization algorithms such as particle swarm optimization (PSO) have shown promise both in solving intractable problems and in their extensibility to novel problem formulations due to their general approach requiring few assumptions. Unfortunately, single instantiations of algorithms require detailed tuning of parameters and cannot be proven to be best suited to a particular illustrative problem on account of the “no free lunch” (NFL) theorem. Using these algorithms in real-world problems requires exquisite knowledge of the many techniques and is not conducive to reconciling the various approaches to given classes of problems. This research aims to present a unified view of PSO-based approaches from the perspective of relevant systems engineering problems, with the express purpose of then eliciting the best solution for any problem formulation in an ensemble learning bucket of models approach. The central hypothesis of the research is that extending the PSO algorithms found in the literature to real-world optimization problems requires a general ensemble-based method for all problem formulations but a specific implementation and solution for any instance. The main results are a problem-based literature survey and a general method to find more globally optimal solutions for any systems engineering optimization problem. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20swarm%20optimization" title="particle swarm optimization">particle swarm optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nature-inspired%20optimization" title=" nature-inspired optimization"> nature-inspired optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metaheuristics" title=" metaheuristics"> metaheuristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systems%20engineering" title=" systems engineering"> systems engineering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ensemble%20learning" title=" ensemble learning"> ensemble learning</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167097/an-ensemble-learning-method-for-applying-particle-swarm-optimization-algorithms-to-systems-engineering-problems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167097.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">99</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">16</span> The Effects of Prebiotic, Probiotic and Synbiotic Diets Containing Bacillus coagulans and Inulin on Serum Lipid Profile in the Rat</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khadijeh%20Abhari">Khadijeh Abhari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Shahram%20Shekarforoush"> Seyed Shahram Shekarforoush</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saeid%20Hosseinzadeh"> Saeid Hosseinzadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An in vivo trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of Bacillus coagulans, and inulin, either separately or in combination, on lipid profile using a rat model. Thirty-two male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups (n=8) and fed as follows: standard diet (control), standard diet with 5% w/w long chain inulin (prebiotic), standard diet with 109 spores/day spores of B. coagulans by orogastric gavage (probiotic), and standard diet with 5% w/w long chain inulin and 109 spores/day of B. coagulans (synbiotic). Rats were fed the treatments for 30 days. Serum samples were collected 10, 20 and 30 days following onset of treatment. Total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol and triglycerides concentrations were analyzed. Results of this study showed that inulin potentially affected the lipid profile. An obvious decrease in serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholestrol of rats fed with inulin in synbiotic and prebiotic groups was seen in all sampling days. Inulin fed rats also demonstrated higher levels of HDL-cholesterol concentration; however this value in probiotic and control fed rats remains without significant change. According to the results of this study, B. coagulans did not contribute to any lipid profile changes after 30 days. Thus, further in vitro investigations on the characteristic of these bacteria could be useful to gain insights into understanding the treatment of probiotics in order to achieve the maximum beneficial effect. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bacillus%20coagulans" title="bacillus coagulans">bacillus coagulans</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inulin" title=" inulin"> inulin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rat" title=" rat"> rat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lipid%20profile" title=" lipid profile"> lipid profile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=synbiotic%20diet" title=" synbiotic diet"> synbiotic diet</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39262/the-effects-of-prebiotic-probiotic-and-synbiotic-diets-containing-bacillus-coagulans-and-inulin-on-serum-lipid-profile-in-the-rat" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39262.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">409</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Effect of Aerobic Training on Visfatin Levels and Lipid Profile in Obese Women</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Banaeifar%20Abdolali">Banaeifar Abdolali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rahmanimoghadam%20Neda"> Rahmanimoghadam Neda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sohyli%20Shahram"> Sohyli Shahram</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Obesity is an increase in body fat , in addition it has been introduced as a risk factor for the progress of lipid disorders, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes (1,2). In recent years, Adipose tissue is now recognized as an endocrine organ that secretes many cytokines such as: interleukin 6, leptin, and visfatin (3). Visfatin is an adipocytokine that release from adiposities. It is unidentified whether training also influences concentrations of visfatin. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 12 weeks of aerobic training on visfatin levels and lipid profile in obese women. Method: Thirty two obese women (age = 37.8 ± 13.2 years, body mass index = of 39.4 ± 6.4 kg/m2 .) volunteered to participate in a 12-wk exercise program. They were randomly assigned to either a training (n = 16) or control (n = 14) group. The training group exercised for 70 minutes per session, 3 days per week during the 12 week training program. The control group was asked to maintain their normal daily activities. Samples were obtained before and at the end of training program. We use t.paire and independent, test for data analyzes. Results: Exercise training resulted in a decrease in body weight (p < 0.05), percent body fat (% fat) and BMI (p < 0.05), fasting glucose level and visfatin concentration decreased but wasn’t significant (p > 0.05). Also the levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol did not change significantly. Conclution: In conclusion, three month aerobic training program used in this study was very effective for producing significant benefits to body composition and HDL.c but didn’t significant chenging visfatin levels and lipid profile in these obese women. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerobic%20training" title="aerobic
