property="content:encoded"><p>The invoice you receive from us is drawn up in accordance with the applicable rules of the INAMI.</p> <p><br />Invoices are drawn up for each calendar month and are sent to you during the following month. It may therefore be several weeks before you receive the invoice. If your stay extends over 2 months or more, you will receive a separate invoice for each calendar month. You may receive another invoice at a later date for late charges or following a correction. Each care programme is billed separately. You may therefore receive bills for a consultation, outpatient services and hospitalisation in the same calendar month.<br />You can choose to have your bill sent to a family member or a third party by providing a personalised billing address when you are admitted.<br />The charges shown on your bill are divided into columns and headings.</p> <p><br />In the<strong><u> 3 columns</u></strong>, you will find :</p> <ul> <li>charged to the health insurance scheme and the Flemish Health Care Fund: the amounts billed directly to the health insurance scheme and the Health Care Fund</li> <li>charged to the patient: the personal share for reimbursed and non-reimbursed services and episodes</li> <li>supplements: the supplements charged if you have opted for a single room.µ</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>The amount you have to pay yourself for care during hospitalisation depends on</p> <ul> <li>your status: insured or in receipt of the increased allowance</li> <li>your choice of room: double room, single room</li> <li>the length of your stay in hospital</li> <li>any personal expenses, such as telephone calls, hairdresser's fees, water, etc.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>To benefit from direct payment by the health insurance fund, you must be in good standing with the health insurance scheme. For patients who are not in good standing with their health insurance fund or who are not registered with a health insurance fund in Belgium, the hospital will charge everything to the patient without the intervention of the health insurance fund. This is the price of a day's care at 100%.</p> <p>However, if you are in regulation with the health insurance fund, some of the costs remain at your expense. These costs are:</p> <ul> <li>the statutory personal share per stay day</li> <li>lump sums for medicines, supervision and in some cases technical services</li> <li>the room supplement and fee supplements, if you opted for a single room</li> <li>the statutory personal shares for examinations and certain paramedical or nursing services</li> <li>personal expenses such as, among others, charges for outgoing calls to the telephone in your room, drinks, personal laundry, etc.</li> <li>non-refundable medication</li> </ul> <p>In addition to the division into columns, costs are divided into headings. Only the headings that apply to you are listed. Therefore, not all headings may appear on your invoice.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>1. Stay costs</strong></p> <p>The "nursing day charge" is a fixed amount set by the government that covers part of the hospital stay. Flat-rate charges</strong></p> <p>Per admission, the hospital may charge the patient a flat-rate amount :</p> <ul> <li>forfait clinical biology: This is an amount per day of stay that is institution-specific and is determined and passed on by the NIHDI with annual calculated adjustments. This amount is always entirely borne by the health insurance fund.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>A 2nd lump sum for clinical biology is charged per admission. This is also fully borne by the health insurance fund.</p> <ul> <li>flat rate for medical imaging: this flat rate per admission is fully borne by the health insurance fund. If the patient is readmitted within 10 days, a different lump sum is charged. This too is at the expense of the health insurance fund.</li> <li>lump sum for technical services: per admission you pay a lump sum of 16.40 € for all technical services. This is always a personal contribution and is only charged to patients who do not benefit from an increased allowance.</li> <li>flat-rate medicines: per day of stay, you pay 0.62 € for reimbursable medicines. This amount is determined by law and is charged even if you have not used such medicines.<br /> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>3. As a patient, you pay a flat rate of 0.62 € per patient day as mentioned above.</li> <li>Non-reimbursable products: These medicines are charged in full to the patient, there is no intervention by the health insurance fund. These are e.g. painkillers, paramedical material, etc. On the invoice you will find the name of the medicine, the quantity used and the amount charged to the patient.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>4. Fees</strong></p> <p>These are the fees for examinations and/or treatments carried out by doctors and other recognised healthcare providers.</p> <ul> <li>fees paid in full by the health insurance fund: no patient contribution or supplement is payable for these services.</li> <li>fees with patient contribution and/or fee supplement: the patient contribution or personal share is laid down in the tariff agreement. Fee supplements may only be charged if you opted for a single room. All benefits are listed per healthcare provider.</li> <li>Fees for non-refundable services: these services are not reimbursed by the health insurance and are entirely the patient's responsibility. They are clearly defined on the invoice.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><u>Fee supplements:</u></p> <p>If you explicitly choose to stay in an individual room (and actually stay there), the hospital may charge room supplements and doctors charge fee supplements. So in this case, staying in an individual room costs more than staying in a double room. This supplement is entirely at the patient's expense.</p> <p>The amount a doctor may charge in our hospital as a fee supplement (or fee supplements) is 155% of the legally set rate and applies only to supervisory fees.</p> <p>You do not pay single-room supplements if you are admitted to a single room for medical reasons or if you end up in a single room without asking.</p> <p>The admission planning service will try to accommodate your request for a single room as much as possible. Keep in mind, however, that this is not always immediately possible in busy occupancy. In this case, you will be admitted to a double room and no room or fee supplements will be charged.</p> <p> </p> <p><u>Convention status:</u></p> <p>NMSC doctors are conventioned. This means that the doctor fully accepts the agreement with the health insurance funds and respects the agreed maximum fees. Consequently, the NMSC bills the fee rates agreed in the convention.</p> <p>If you do not show up for an appointment without prior notice, we reserve the right to charge an administrative fee of €12, payable entirely by you.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>5. Other deliveries</strong></p> <p>Under this heading you will find the supply of blood, plaster casts and the like. They are partially or fully payable by the patient and are clearly described on the invoice.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>6. Ambulance</strong></p> <p>This heading includes the costs of urgent and non-urgent transport performed by the hospital. It does not include transport provided by an external service.</p> <p>Who pays which transport costs in case of hospitalisation?</p> <p>If you are hospitalised and you are transported to another hospital and do not return to NMSC, the transport costs are at your expense.<br />If you are transported to another hospital for additional examination or treatment on the order of your doctor at NMSC and you return to NMSC on the same day, the transport costs will be borne by NMSC.<br />If, when you are transported to another hospital for additional examination or treatment, you do not return the same day, the transport charges are at your expense.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>7. various costs</strong></p> <p>Besides the cost of medical care, you may have used telephone, hairdresser, pedicure, visitors' meals, etc. Such costs can be found under this section of your bill. Accommodation in the patient's room is only possible if the patient is admitted to a double room with "individual room" status. The relative or companion will be offered the second bed present in the room.</p> <p>Rooming-in is allowed if there are enough available rooms and beds and subject to the approval of the attending physician. If, during the patient's stay, it appears that there is a shortage of double rooms, rooming-in may be requested. This will always be done in consultation with social services and the doctor's team.</p> <p>Rooming-in should be requested at the time of the request for admission or the planning of admission.</p> <p>Upon admission, in addition to the admission declaration, the document "Request for Rooming-in - Accommodation expenses for family members - companions of patients" must be signed. Orders can be placed through the nursing staff.</p> <p>The cost of an overnight stay is €13.00 per night. The cost of an overnight stay and meals in full board is €28.25.</p> <p>If you opt for an overnight stay without meals, you can have individual meals at the following prices:<br />- breakfast : €3.36<br />- hot midday meal: €10.36<br />- evening meal: € 3.36</p> <p>Payment for overnight stays and meals is made via the patient's hospital bill</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>ADMISSION DECLARATION</strong></p> <p>On admission you will be given an admission declaration to sign. This sets out the choice of room and the corresponding room supplement. If you choose to stay in a single room, you will pay a room supplement of 80 euros per day. Please note that if you opt for a single room, a 155% supplement to the doctor's fee will also be charged.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>HOSPITALISATION INSURANCE</strong></p> <p>If you have hospitalisation insurance, always inform your insurer in advance about their possible intervention in the cost of admission for your stay at the NMSC. This is because the content of the policy varies from one company to another. Be sure to mention the hospital's approval number: 7.10693.26.</p> <p>If you have an insurance card (DKV, Assurcard or Daisy-H system) and there is prior approval from your insurance company, the hospital will send the invoice for your admission directly to the insurance company.</p> <p>Note: The hospital does NOT have a kiosk to read your Assurcard (Ethias, KBC...). Some insurance companies require you to declare your admission in advance yourself. It is best to ask them about this.</p> <p>If you are unable to present an agreement from your insurance company, the invoice will initially be sent to the patient (you also pay the hospital), after which you can forward it to your insurer for further processing.</p> <p>Please bring the necessary details (medicard, policy number, approval form, certificates for the doctor...) at the time of registration.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>ADVANCES</strong></p> <p>No advance payments are requested, except for patients who are not covered by Belgian health insurance. These patients are asked to pay an advance before they can be treated. The amount of the advance is calculated by the financial department according to the expected treatment.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>TERMS OF PAYMENT</strong></p> <p>Our invoices are payable in cash upon receipt. In the event of a dispute, only the courts in Brussels have jurisdiction. In case of late payment, interest of 12 % per year will be due plus damages of 10 % of the outstanding balance with a minimum of EUR 24.78.</p> <p>Are you unable to pay the hospital bill in one go and did you opt for a double room? In consultation, we will draw up an instalment payment plan and you can pay your bill in instalments.</p> <p>When paying, please always enter the payment reference stated on your invoice.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>COST ESTIMATION</strong></p> <p>Would you like an estimate of the cost of your stay?</p> <p>A rehabilitation process is different for each person, which makes it difficult to estimate exactly how long a patient needs to be rehabilitated.</p> <p>You can always contact our billing service for a cost estimate. They can make an estimate based on the information you provide them with.
