In the late 1990's, the site's shorter, capsule review format allowed for more of the editor's resources (mostly time) to be spent on auxiliary parts of its offerings. This included monthly articles, mystery clip contests, cursory information about soundtrack-related books and sheet music, auctions of collectible score albums, details about early collectible CDs, and a large collection of links to other film music websites (among other areas). During those early days of the site, it wasn't uncommon for these auxiliary sections to be visited more often than the reviews or the fledgling forums.<br> <br> Unfortunately, these non-review sections of the site eventually became an embodiment of the adage about "biting off more than one can chew." As Filmtracks focused more heavily on its extensive collection of reviews in the mid-2000's, these auxiliary areas of the site fell out of date and were only infrequently visited. Some, like the Audio Library, became unnecessary as the site grew. Others simply proved too pointless to maintain given the relatively small readership to those sections. Rather than simply eliminate all of these older sections of the site, they have been restricted to only this archives section. They are not available via outside search engines and the header of each section will include a notice about their archived status.<br> <br> These sections still exist in the 2003-2009 layout of the site (with the exception of a few of the early "Theme of the Month" articles, which exhibit the <i>very</i> old layouts of the site), so be aware that these areas will not be responsive on mobile devices. Because they have been archived, these old sections will never again be updated.
