It is widely known that the Ombudsman office has long been regarded as an effective office in resolving people complaint. This is mainly because the nature of the Ombudsman as an independent and impartial institution. This article argues that regardless of the different context of introduction of an ombudsman in Indonesia and Australia because of different political and social context, however, the performance of ombudsman in both countries has showed significant role in enhancing public services through their expanded mandates and stronger This type of research is qualitative using a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used consists of data condensation, data presentation and conclusions. The results showed that the responsiveness of the Ombudsman institution of the Republic of Indonesia Representative of South Sulawesi Province has been very responsive in serving and also responding to every community who comes to provide reports. This can be seen from Every community that comes will be responded by employees, by providing an understanding of what the Ombudsman is, its functions, duties and authorities as well as the apparatus providing questions related to cases to be reported. Every employee / apparatus also performs services quickly, this is related to community complaints whose resolution process is through time classification, the necessary conditions also do not make it difficult for the community to get services and the report is processed immediately. Then each employee / apparatus performs services appropriately, this is evidenced by the apparatus in charge of having competence in their respective fields, then in the process of continuing community reports, each report will be verified whether the report falls under the authority of the Ombudsman. Every employee/apparatus performs services carefully, according to interviews with whistleblowers, the ombudsman always asks questions related to community reports that come before the report is processed. The apparatus always provides directions to the community so that there is no misunderstanding and makes it easier for the reporting party / community to clearly understand the form of complaint that wants to be reported to the Ombudsman. Every officer / apparatus performs services with the right waktu, it is very visible how the report process is carried out in accordance with the period determined by the Service Assistant and Report Verification (PVL) the report itself is divided into 3 classifications, namely, light, medium, severe. Each report has a level of difficulty and requires a different time to complete because some reports will require many parties involved. Then it can be said that every customer complaint will be responded to by the officer. As a public service institution, of course, the ombudsman always provides services in accordance with established procedures and standards in order to provide services that give birth to a sense of (ijasre), 2022</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">The background of this research is because several problems occur in handling complaints within the Probolinggo Regency Inspectorate. There are still many obstacles in handling complaints where the average complaint handled is only around 50%. So that the handling of complaints cannot be evaluated optimally. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The informant selection method was purposive with data collection techniques, namely field research methods using in-depth interviews, observation and documentation, and library research. The research findings show that although the implementation mechanisms and procedures are already contained in several basic implementing regulations, there are still some obstacles in coordinating the implementation of handling public complaints services, namely, the parties or officials concerned are difficult to contact, coordinate with the Law Enforcement Apparatus (LEA) sometimes does not match the schedule and the time for each personnel is limited to coordinate with related parties. In addition, the means of promotion and information regarding public complaints services are still minimal, so not many people take advantage of these services. This juridical-normative research uses four kinds of approach like statute, historical, conceptual and comparative approach. The Ombuds-man’s existence after 19 years establishment can be said hasn’t fully work as that institution expectation. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and has a research focus in assessing the performance of the Ombudsman using Simanjuntak&#39;s theory which consists of organizational support, management ability and effectiveness, and the performance of everyone in the organization.
