Fishing trials were conducted using nets with the following net heights: 1) 12 meshes down (MD), 2) 24 MD and 3) 50 MD. A total of 1,290 individuals comprising of 87 species belonging to 53 families were caught. One-way ANOVA showed that net height significantly affects various catch parameters such as catch per unit effort (CPUE) of the total and target catch, amount of non-target catch, sizes and species richness. The use of appropriate net height is a potential technical measure for a selective but still efficient crab entangling net fishery. Lower net height significantly reduced non-target catch up to 70%. While lower nets decreased the CPUE of target catch such as blue swimming crab Portunus pelagicus and christian crab Charybdis feriatus up to 65% in 12 MD, catch in 24 MD was not significantly different with that in 50 MD. The use of 24 MD also resulted in capturing larger-sized Portunus pelagicus. Catch species richness decreased up to 58% in lower nets. These results are useful to fisheries managers and government institutions to develop or improve existing regulations towards a sustainable crab fishery particularly blue swimming crabs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blue%20swimming%20crabs" title="blue swimming crabs">blue swimming crabs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=catch%20per%20unit%20effort" title=" catch per unit effort"> catch per unit effort</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20entangling%20nets" title=" crab entangling nets"> crab entangling nets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=net%20height" title=" net height"> net height</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73921/effects-of-net-height-of-crab-entangling-nets-on-the-capture-of-targeted-economically-important-portunid-species-and-non-target-species" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73921.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">220</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">156</span> Classification of Crisp Petri Nets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riddhi%20Jangid">Riddhi Jangid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gajendra%20Pratap%20Singh"> Gajendra Pratap Singh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Petri nets, a formalized modeling language that was introduced back around 50-60 years, have been widely used for modeling discrete event dynamic systems and simulating their behavior. Reachability analysis of Petri nets gives many insights into a modeled system. This idea leads us to study the reachability technique and use it in the reachability problem in the state space of reachable markings. With the same concept, Crisp Boolean Petri nets were defined in which the marking vectors that are boolean are distinct in the reachability analysis of the nets. We generalize the concept and define ‘Crisp’ Petri nets that generate the marking vectors exactly once in their reachability-based analysis, not necessarily Boolean. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marking%20vector" title="marking vector">marking vector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=n-vector" title=" n-vector"> n-vector</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Petri%20nets" title=" Petri nets"> Petri nets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reachability" title=" reachability"> reachability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/160199/classification-of-crisp-petri-nets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/160199.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">82</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">155</span> Extended Boolean Petri Nets Generating N-Ary Trees</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riddhi%20Jangid">Riddhi Jangid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gajendra%20Pratap%20Singh"> Gajendra Pratap Singh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Petri nets, a mathematical tool, is used for modeling in different areas of computer sciences, biological networks, chemical systems and many other disciplines. A Petri net model of a given system is created by the graphical representation that describes the properties and behavior of the system. While looking for the behavior of any system, 1-safe Petri nets are of particular interest to many in the application part. Boolean Petri nets correspond to those class in 1- safe Petri nets that generate all the binary n-vectors in their reachability analysis. We study the class by changing different parameters like the token counts in the places and how the structure of the tree changes in the reachability analysis. However, the data related to carbapenem-resistant A. baumannii (CRAB) from veterinary settings is limited, especially in developing countries like Pakistan. To investigate the genetic diversity and molecular basis of carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii isolates from Cattle, a total of 1960 samples were collected from cattle from Punjab, Pakistan. The isolates were analyzed by routine microbiological procedures and confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The isolates were further screened for antimicrobial susceptibility and the presence of multiple antimicrobial-resistant determinants by PCR. Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) was performed. The results of the current study revealed that the overall prevalence of A. baumannii in cattle was 3.28% (65/1980). Among cattle 27.7% (18/65) were found CRAB strains. The CRAB isolates harbor class D β- lactamases genes, e-g, blaOXA-23 and blaOXA-51, 94.4% (17/18). CRAB isolates carry class B β- lactamases gene blaIMP, and only one isolate carries the blaNDM-1 gene. The MLST results of CRAB isolates from cattle demonstrated 5 STs and one new ST. The commonly found sequence types in CRAB isolates were ST2 (n=10, 55.5%), followed by ST642 (n=5, 27.8%) and ST600 & ST889 (n=1, 5.55%). The presence of CRAB isolates in cattle indicates an alarming situation in Punjab, Pakistan. Immediate control measures should be taken to stop the transmission of CRAB isolates within cattle, to the environment, and to clinical settings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acinetobacter%20baumannii" title="acinetobacter baumannii">acinetobacter baumannii</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbapenemases" title=" carbapenemases"> carbapenemases</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=veterinary" title=" veterinary"> veterinary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20resistance" title=" drug resistance"> drug resistance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184131/genetic-diversity-and-molecular-basis-of-carbapenem-resistance-in-acinetobacter-baumannii-isolates-from-cattle" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184131.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">56</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">151</span> Methods for Business Process Simulation Based on Petri Nets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Shoylekova">K. This study was therefore carried out to investigate the level of some heavy metals in water and Callinectes amnicola (Swimming Crab) in the month of August, September and October from Bodo creek, Rivers State, Nigeria. The physico-chemical parameters of the water were also analyzed in-situ. The levels of heavy metals, Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Chromium (Cr), Zinc (Zn), Copper (Cu) were analyzed in water and in Callinectes amnicola (Swimming Crab), using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) after acid digestion. For the concentration of heavy metals in water, Pb ranged from 0.103 - 0.791 mg/l, Zn 0.0025 - 0.342 mg/l, Cr < 0.001 - 0.304 mg/l, Cd 0.011 - 0.116 mg/l and Cu <0.001 - 0.079 mg/l. For the concentration of heavy metals in Callinectes amnicola (Swimming Crab), the level of Pb ranged from 0.359 - 0.849 mg/l, Zn 0.134 - 0.342 mg/l, Cd 0.053 - 0.103 mg/l, Cr < 0.001 - <0.001 mg/l, Cu < 0.001 - 0.131 mg/l. The concentrations of Pb, Cd and Cr for all water and crab samples collected from the various stations were higher than permissible level suggesting serious anthropogenic influence. Thus, precaution needs to be taken to prevent further contamination and adequate purification measures need to be put in place. Therefore, there should be periodic environmental pollution monitoring, for assessment and awareness especially with regards heavy metal. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bodo%20creek" title="Bodo creek">Bodo creek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crude%20oil" title=" crude oil"> crude oil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heavy%20metal" title=" heavy metal"> heavy metal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=swimming%20crab" title=" swimming crab"> swimming crab</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93484/assessment-of-the-physico-chemical-parameters-and-heavy-metal-concentration-in-water-and-callinectes-amnicola-swimming-crab-in-a-crude-oil-exposed-community-bodo-creek-rivers-state-nigeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93484.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">162</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">149</span> Morphological and Molecular Analysis of Selected Fast-Growing Blue Swimming Crab (Portunus pelagicus) in South of Sulawesi </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yushinta%20Fujaya">Yushinta Fujaya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andi%20Ivo%20Asphama"> Andi Ivo Asphama</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andi%20Parenrengi"> Andi Parenrengi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andi%20Tenriulo"> Andi Tenriulo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Blue Swimming crab (Portunus pelagicus) is an important commercial species throughout the subtropical waters and as such constitutes part of the fisheries resources. The crab seeds were obtained from local fish-trap and hatchery. A study on the growth was carried out in the population of crabs. The dimensions analyzed were carapace width (CW) measured after 3 months of grow out. Morphological character states were examined based on the pattern of spots on the carapace. Molecular analysis was performed using RAPD (Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA). Genetic distance was analysed using TFPGA (Tools for Population Genetic Analyses) version 1.3. The results showed that there were variations in the growth of crabs. These crabs clustered morphologically into three quite distinct groups. The crab with white spots irregularly spread over its carapace was the largest size while the crab with large white spots scattered over the carapace was the smaller size (3%). The crab with small white spots scattered over the carapace was the smallest size found in this study. Molecular analysis showed that there are morphologically and genetically different between groups of crabs. Genetic distances among crabs ranged from 0.1527 to 0.5856. Thus, this study provides information the use of white spots pattern over carapace as indicators to identify the type of blue swimming crabs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab" title="crab">crab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=portunus%20pelagicus" title=" portunus pelagicus"> portunus pelagicus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphology" title=" morphology"> morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RAPD" title=" RAPD"> RAPD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carapace" title=" Carapace"> Carapace</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20407/morphological-and-molecular-analysis-of-selected-fast-growing-blue-swimming-crab-portunus-pelagicus-in-south-of-sulawesi" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/20407.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">538</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">148</span> Modified Mangrove Pens for Polyculture System in Mud Crab (Scylla serrata) and Milkfish (Chanos chanos) Production</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laurence%20G.%20Almoguera">Laurence G. The modification of mangrove pens was done by adding excavations inside the pen. The water quality parameters (dissolved oxygen, pH, salinity, and temperature) were monitored, the recovery and the production rate in each pen were evaluated. The experiment was conducted for a rearing period of 143 days in nine mangrove pens, each having an area of 32 m² with an average net enclosure height of 3 m from the soil surface. The three different pens constructed (existing design - with canal only, with 43% excavation by area, and 54% excavation by area) were designated as T₁, T₂, and T₃, respectively. All experimental units were stocked with 31 pieces of crablets (with 33.3 g average weight) and additional 130 pieces of milkfish fingerlings (with 0.11 g average weight) to the modified mangrove pens. The water quality parameters recorded in the pens were favorable for the growth and recovery of the mud crab and milkfish, except for dissolved oxygen (DO). It was found to be the reason for the total mortality of the stocked milkfish. For mud crab, the highest mean recovery was recorded in T₂ (34.41%), followed by T₃ (26.91%) and the lowest in T1 (21.50%). The production rate followed the same trend as the recovery, where T₂ (74.49 g/m²) obtained the highest, followed by T₃ (55 g/m2) and the lowest was in T₁ (34.87 g/m²). The statistical analysis revealed that the variations of the mud crab recovery were not significant, while in terms of production rate, modified mangrove pens were found to be more effective than the existing design. Due to the total mortality of the cultured milkfish, the current set-up of modified mangrove pens was found to be not suitable for the polyculture system of milkfish and mud crab production. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aquasilviculture" title="aquasilviculture">aquasilviculture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=milkfish" title=" milkfish"> milkfish</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modified%20mangrove%20pen" title=" modified mangrove pen"> modified mangrove pen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mud%20crab" title=" mud crab"> mud crab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polyculture" title=" polyculture"> polyculture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=production%20rate" title=" production rate"> production rate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143471/modified-mangrove-pens-for-polyculture-system-in-mud-crab-scylla-serrata-and-milkfish-chanos-chanos-production" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143471.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">197</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">147</span> Physical-Chemical Parameters of Latvian Apple Juices and Their Suitability for Cider Production</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rita%20Riekstina-Dolge">Rita Riekstina-Dolge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zanda%20Kruma"> Zanda Kruma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daina%20Karklina"> Daina Karklina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fredijs%20Dimins"> Fredijs Dimins</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Apple juice is the main raw material for cider production. Crab burrows by increasing oxic-anoxic interfaces and facilitating the flux rate between sediment and tidal water affect biogeochemical properties of sediments. The effect of fiddler crab burrows on the density and diversity of bacteria were investigated to elucidate the effect of burrow on bacterial distribution. Samples collected from the burrow walls of three species of fiddler crabs including Uca paradussumieri, Uca rosea, and Uca forcipata. Sediment properties including grain size, temperature, Redox potential, pH, chlorophyll, water and organic content were measured from the burrow walls to assess the correlation between environmental variables and bacterial communities. Bacteria were enumerated with epifluorescence microscopy after staining with SYBR green. Bacterial DNA extracted from sediment samples and the community profiles of bacteria were determined with Terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (T-RFLP). High endemism was observed among bacterial communities. Among the 152 observed OTU’s, 22 were found only in crab burrows. The highest bacterial density and diversity were recorded in burrow wall. The results of ANOSIM indicated a significant difference between the bacterial communities from the three species of fiddler crab burrows. Only 3% of explained bacteria variability in the constrained ordination model of CCA was contributed to depth, while much of the bacteria’s variability was attributed to coarse sand, pH, and chlorophyll content. Our findings suggest that crab burrows by affecting sediment properties such as redox potential, pH, water, and chlorophyll content induce significant effects on the bacterial communities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioturbation" title="bioturbation">bioturbation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=canonical%20corresponding%20analysis" title=" canonical corresponding analysis"> canonical corresponding analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiddler%20crab" title=" fiddler crab"> fiddler crab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microbial%20ecology" title=" microbial ecology"> microbial ecology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84600/effect-of-fiddler-crab-burrows-on-bacterial-communities-of-mangrove-sediments" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84600.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">157</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">145</span> A Timed and Colored Petri Nets for Modeling and Verify Cloud System Elasticity </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Walid%20Louhichi">Walid Louhichi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mouhebeddine%20Berrima"> Mouhebeddine Berrima</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Narjes%20Ben%20Rajed"> Narjes Ben Rajed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Elasticity is the essential property of cloud computing. As the name suggests, it constitutes the ability of a cloud system to adjust resource provisioning in relation to fluctuating workload. There are two types of elasticity operations, vertical and horizontal. In this work, we are interested in horizontal scaling, which is ensured by two mechanisms; scaling in and scaling out. Following the sizing of the system, we can adopt scaling in in the event of over-supply and scaling out in the event of under-supply. In this paper, we propose a formal model, based on colored and temporized Petri nets, for the modeling of the duplication and the removal of a virtual machine from a server. This model is based on formal Petri Nets modeling language. The proposed models are edited, verified, and simulated with two examples implemented in CPNtools, which is a modeling tool for colored and timed Petri nets. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud%20computing" title="cloud computing">cloud computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elasticity" title=" elasticity"> elasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elasticity%20controller" title=" elasticity controller"> elasticity controller</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=petri%20nets" title=" petri nets"> petri nets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scaling%20in" title=" scaling in"> scaling in</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scaling%20out" title=" scaling out"> scaling out</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131529/a-timed-and-colored-petri-nets-for-modeling-and-verify-cloud-system-elasticity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131529.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">154</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">144</span> The First Report of Fresh Water Crab Potamon Potamios (Decapoda: brachyura) in Chahnimeh’s Water Reservoirs from Sistan, Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmad%20Gharaei">Ahmad Gharaei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javad%20Mirdar%20Harijani"> Javad Mirdar Harijani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The freshwater crab family (Potamidae Ortmann, 1896) is a big group and varies over 500 species in 74 genuses. Tumor-infiltrating neutrophils (TIN) can generate extracellular net-like DNA structures known as neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). However, little is known about the presence and prognostic significance of tumor-infiltrating NETs in EWS. Herein, we investigated 46 patients diagnosed with EWS and treated in the Tel Aviv Medical Center between 2010 and 2021. TINs and NETs were identified in diagnostic biopsies of EWS by immunofluorescent. In addition, NETs were investigated in neutrophils isolated from peripheral blood samples of EWS patients at diagnosis and following neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The relationships between the presence of TINs and NETs, pathological and clinical features, and outcomes were analyzed. Our results demonstrate that TIN and NETs at diagnosis were higher in EWS patients with metastatic disease compared to those with local disease. High NETs formation at diagnosis predicted poor response to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, relapse, and death from disease (P < .05). NETs formation in peripheral blood samples at diagnosis was significantly elevated among patients with EWS compared to pediatric controls and decreased significantly following neoadjuvant chemotherapy. In conclusion, NETs formation seems to have a role in the EWS immune microenvironment. Their presence can refine risk stratification, predict chemotherapy resistance and survival, and serve as a therapeutic target in patients with EWS. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ewing%20sarcoma" title="Ewing sarcoma">Ewing sarcoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tumor%20microenvironment" title=" tumor microenvironment"> tumor microenvironment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neutrophil" title=" neutrophil"> neutrophil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neutrophil%20extracellular%20traps%20%28NETs%29" title=" neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs)"> neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prognosis" title=" prognosis"> prognosis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177507/suggested-role-for-neutrophil-extracellular-traps-formation-in-ewing-sarcoma-immune-microenvironment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177507.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">64</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">141</span> Fecundity of Blue Swimming Crab, Portunus segnis (Forskal, 1775)&#039; in Yumurtalık Cove, Iskenderun Bay, Northeastern Mediterranean, Adana, Turkey</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Canan%20T%C3%BCreli%CC%87">Canan Türeli̇</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=I%CC%87rem%20Nur%20Ye%C5%9Fi%CC%87lyurt"> İrem Nur Yeşi̇lyurt</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Blue swimming crab, Portunus segnis (Forskal, 1775) entered to the Mediterranean with Suez Canal. Samples were collected monthly from July 2014 to June 2015 (except February), using bottom trawl into three different depth strata; 0-10 m, 10-20 m and 20-50 m. Sand crab samples were caught all studied months. 110 Males, 70 juvenile and 140 female; 44 of them ovigerous, totally 320 samples were collected during the study period. The size of all samples varied from 38.1 to 163.17 mm carapace width and from 3.46 to 324.36 g weight. All the ovigerous crabs were caught at 0-10 m depth between July to November and in April and May, the highest number of them was observed in August and September. Mean carapace width and weight of ovigerous crabs were calculated respectively, 130.36 ± 12.82 mm (101.39-154.03), 191.02 ± 59.00 g (88.26-324.36). Mean fecundity determined 1.186.185 ± 819.510 (1.393.79-4.513.034) eggs. More fecundity and reproduction biology studies are necessary for monitoring the P. segnis population structure in Northeastern Mediterranean of Turkey. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blue%20swimming%20crab" title="blue swimming crab">blue swimming crab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fecundity" title=" fecundity"> fecundity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=portunus%20segnis" title=" portunus segnis"> portunus segnis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Turkey" title=" Turkey"> Turkey</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45729/fecundity-of-blue-swimming-crab-portunus-segnis-forskal-1775-in-yumurtalik-cove-iskenderun-bay-northeastern-mediterranean-adana-turkey" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/45729.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">317</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">140</span> Immune Response and Histological Alteration in the Crab Carcinus aestuarii, Due to Silver Nanoparticles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ines%20Kovacic">Ines Kovacic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dijana%20Pavicic-Hamer"> Dijana Pavicic-Hamer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Petra%20Buric"> Petra Buric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maja%20Levak%20Zorinc"> Maja Levak Zorinc</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20M.%20Lyons"> Daniel M. Despite the increased use of AgNPs in science and industry over the past twenty years, only relatively recently has concern been raised over their entering brackish and marine environments. However, data on their potential impact on marine organisms, especially invertebrates are very limited. This study aimed to examine the effects of 60 nm AgNPs (10, 100, 500 and 1000 µg/l) and silver ions (100, 1000 µg/l) on the Mediterranean green crab Carcinus aestuarii Nardo, 1847. The crab mortality was assessed during seven days of exposure. After the exposure, total haemocytes (THC) and differential haemocytes number (DHC) were counted (immune response), in addition to histological examination of gills stained with haematoxylin and eosin. The effect of AgNPs and silver ions resulted in a dose dependent mortality and destruction of gills epithelium with haemocytes infiltration in the gills lacuna. Total haemocyte count was greater with increasing concentration of AgNPs, at concentrations from 10 to 500 µg/l. Hyalinocytes were the most common immunological cells noted in the crab hemolymph, while granulocytes and semigranulocytes were suppressed with increasing concentration of AgNPs (500 and 1000 µg/l). Thus, as crabs are filter feeders, they are susceptible to uptake of AgNPs by direct accumulation in gills mucus or indirectly via circulation of haemocytes in their open vascular system. Results of this study on crabs add to knowledge of the effects of AgNPs in the marine environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab" title="crab">crab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=immune%20response" title=" immune response"> immune response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=histological%20alteration" title=" histological alteration"> histological alteration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silver%20nanoparticles" title=" silver nanoparticles"> silver nanoparticles</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103765/immune-response-and-histological-alteration-in-the-crab-carcinus-aestuarii-due-to-silver-nanoparticles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103765.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">154</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">139</span> Molecular Cloning and Identification of a Double WAP Domain–Containing Protein 3 Gene from Chinese Mitten Crab Eriocheir sinensis </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fengmei%20Li">Fengmei Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li%20Xu"> Li Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guoliang%20Xia"> Guoliang Xia</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Whey acidic proteins (WAP) domain-containing proteins in crustacean are involved in innate immune response against microbial invasion. The full-length cDNA of EsDWD3 was of 1223 bp, consisting of a 5′-terminal untranslated region (UTR) of 74 bp, a 3′ UTR of 727 bp with a polyadenylation signal sequence AATAAA and a polyA tail, and an open reading frame (ORF) of 423 bp. The ORF encoded a polypeptide of 140 amino acids with a signal peptide of 22 amino acids. The deduced protein sequence EsDWD3 showed 96.4 % amino acid similar to other reported EsDWD1 from E. sinensis, and phylogenetic tree analysis revealed that EsDWD3 had closer relationships with the reported two double WAP domain-containing proteins of E. sinensis species. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chinese%20mitten%20crab" title="Chinese mitten crab">Chinese mitten crab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eriocheir%20sinensis" title=" Eriocheir sinensis"> Eriocheir sinensis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloning" title=" cloning"> cloning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=double%20WAP%20domain-containing%20protein" title=" double WAP domain-containing protein "> double WAP domain-containing protein </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4040/molecular-cloning-and-identification-of-a-double-wap-domain-containing-protein-3-gene-from-chinese-mitten-crab-eriocheir-sinensis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4040.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">355</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">138</span> A Reduced Distributed Sate Space for Modular Petri Nets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sawsen%20Khlifa">Sawsen Khlifa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chiheb%20AMeur%20Abid"> Chiheb AMeur Abid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Belhassan%20Zouari"> Belhassan Zouari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Modular verification approaches have been widely attempted to cope with the well known state explosion problem. This paper deals with the modular verification of modular Petri nets. We propose a reduced version for the modular state space of a given modular Petri net. The new structure allows the creation of smaller modular graphs. Each one draws the behavior of the corresponding module and outlines some global information. Hence, this version helps to overcome the explosion problem and to use less memory space. In this condensed structure, the verification of some generic properties concerning one module is limited to the exploration of its associated graph. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20systems" title="distributed systems">distributed systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modular%20verification" title=" modular verification"> modular verification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=petri%20nets" title=" petri nets"> petri nets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=state%20space%20explosition" title=" state space explosition"> state space explosition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148880/a-reduced-distributed-sate-space-for-modular-petri-nets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148880.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">115</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">137</span> Development of Technologies for Biotransformation of Aquatic Biological Resources for the Production of Functional, Specialized, Therapeutic, Preventive, and Microbiological Products</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kira%20Rysakova">Kira Rysakova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vitaly%20Novikov"> Vitaly Novikov</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An improved method of obtaining enzymatic collagen hydrolysate from the tissues of marine hydrobionts is proposed, which allows to obtain hydrolysate without pre-isolation of pure collagen. Indeed, the damage exacted during a typical typhoon season can be up to $1 billion, and is responsible for nearly 75% of yearly agricultural losses. However, there is no consensus on how to reduce the damage caused by the strong winds and heavy precipitation engendered by typhoons. One suggestion is the use of windbreak nets, which are a low-cost and easy-to-use disaster mitigation strategy for crop production. In the present study, we conducted an evaluation to determine the optimal conditions of a windbreak net by using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. This model may be used as a reference for crop protection. The results showed that CFD simulation validated windbreak nets of different mesh sizes and heights in the experimental area; thus, CFD is an efficient tool for evaluating the effectiveness of windbreak nets. Specifically, the effective wind protection length and height were found to be 6 and 1.3 times the length and height of the windbreak net, respectively. During a real typhoon, maximum wind gusts of 18 m s-1 can be reduced to 4 m s-1 by using a windbreak net that has a 70% blocking rate. In short, windbreak nets are significantly effective in protecting typhoon-affected areas. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20fluid%20dynamics" title="computational fluid dynamics">computational fluid dynamics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disaster" title=" disaster"> disaster</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=typhoon" title=" typhoon"> typhoon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=windbreak%20net" title=" windbreak net"> windbreak net</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77664/using-computational-fluid-dynamics-to-model-and-design-a-preventative-application-for-strong-wind" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/77664.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">191</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">135</span> Crab Shell Waste Chitosan-Based Thin Film for Acoustic Sensor Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maydariana%20Ayuningtyas">Maydariana Ayuningtyas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bambang%20Riyanto"> Bambang Riyanto</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akhiruddin%20Maddu"> Akhiruddin Maddu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Industrial waste of crustacean shells, such as shrimp and crab, has been considered as one of the major issues contributing to environmental pollution. The waste processing mechanisms to form new, practical substances with added value have been developed. Chitosan, a derived matter from chitin, which is obtained from crab and shrimp shells, performs prodigiously in broad range applications. A chitosan composite-based diaphragm is a new inspiration in fiber optic acoustic sensor advancement. Elastic modulus, dynamic response, and sensitivity to acoustic wave of chitosan-based composite film contribute great potentials of organic-based sound-detecting material. The objective of this research was to develop chitosan diaphragm application in fiber optic microphone system. The formulation was conducted by blending 5% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution with dissolved chitosan at 0%, 1% and 2% in 1:1 ratio, respectively. Composite diaphragms were characterized for the morphological and mechanical properties to predict the desired acoustic sensor sensitivity. The composite with 2% chitosan indicated optimum performance with 242.55 µm thickness, 67.9% relative humidity, and 29-76% light transmittance. The Young’s modulus of 2%-chitosan composite material was 4.89×104 N/m2, which generated the voltage amplitude of 0.013V and performed sensitivity of 3.28 mV/Pa at 1 kHz. Based on the results above, chitosan from crustacean shell waste can be considered as a viable alternative material for fiber optic acoustic sensor sensing pad development. Further, the research in chitosan utilisation is proposed as novel optical microphone development in anthropogenic noise controlling effort for environmental and biodiversity conservation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustic%20sensor" title="acoustic sensor">acoustic sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chitosan" title=" chitosan"> chitosan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite" title=" composite"> composite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20shell" title=" crab shell"> crab shell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diaphragm" title=" diaphragm"> diaphragm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=waste%20utilisation" title=" waste utilisation"> waste utilisation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71655/crab-shell-waste-chitosan-based-thin-film-for-acoustic-sensor-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71655.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">257</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">134</span> Hybrid Approach for Controlling Inductive Load Fed by a Multicellular Converter by Using the Petri Nets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=I.%20Bentchikou">I. The employment of negative emission technologies (NETs) is very likely going to be necessary for meeting these national objectives as well as other internationally agreed climate targets. NETs are methods of removing carbon from the atmosphere and are thus a means for addressing climate change. They range from afforestation to technological measures such as direct air capture and carbon storage (DACCS), where CO2 is captured from the air and stored underground. As all so-called geoengineering technologies, the development and deployment of NETs are often subject to moral hazard arguments. As these technologies could be perceived as an alternative to mitigation efforts, so the argument goes, they are potentially a dangerous distraction from the main target of mitigating emissions. We think that this is a dangerous argument to make as it may hinder the development of NETs which are an essential element of net zero emission targets. In this paper we argue that the moral hazard argument is only problematic if we do not reflect upon which levels of emissions are at stake in order to meet net zero emissions. In response to the moral hazard argument we develop an account of which levels of emissions in given societies should be mitigated and not be the target of NETs and which levels of emissions can legitimately be a target of NETs. For this purpose, we define four different levels of emissions: the current level of individual emissions, the level individuals emit in order to appear in public without shame, the level of a fair share of individual emissions in the global budget, and finally the baseline of net zero emissions. At each level of emissions there are different subjects to be assigned responsibilities if societies and/or individuals are committed to the target of net zero emissions. We argue that all emissions within one’s fair share do not demand individual mitigation efforts. The same holds with regard to individuals and the baseline level of emissions necessary to appear in public in their societies without shame. Individuals are only under duty to reduce their emissions if they exceed this baseline level. This is different for whole societies. Societies demanding more emissions to appear in public without shame than the individual fair share are under duty to foster emission reductions and are not legitimate to reduce by introducing NETs. NETs are legitimate for reducing emissions only below the level of fair shares and for reaching net zero emissions. Since access to NETs to achieve net zero emissions demands technology not affordable to individuals there are also no full individual responsibilities to achieve net zero emissions. This is mainly a responsibility of societies as a whole. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate%20change" title="climate change">climate change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mitigation" title=" mitigation"> mitigation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moral%20hazard" title=" moral hazard"> moral hazard</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=negative%20emission%20technologies" title=" negative emission technologies"> negative emission technologies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=responsibility" title=" responsibility "> responsibility </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122371/how-to-reach-net-zero-emissions-on-the-permissibility-of-negative-emission-technologies-and-the-danger-of-moral-hazards" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122371.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">120</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">132</span> Towards the Reverse Engineering of UML Sequence Diagrams Using Petri Nets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20Baidada">C. This work is a substantial step towards providing high-quality methodology for effectiveand efficient reverse engineering of sequence diagram. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reverse%20engineering" title="reverse engineering">reverse engineering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UML%20behavior" title="UML behavior">UML behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sequence%20diagram" title=" sequence diagram"> sequence diagram</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=execution%20traces" title=" execution traces"> execution traces</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=petri%20nets" title="petri nets">petri nets</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35341/towards-the-reverse-engineering-of-uml-sequence-diagrams-using-petri-nets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35341.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">445</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">131</span> Particle Swarm Optimization Based Method for Minimum Initial Marking in Labeled Petri Nets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hichem%20Kmimech">Hichem Kmimech</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Achref%20Jabeur%20Telmoudi"> Achref Jabeur Telmoudi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lotfi%20Nabli"> Lotfi Nabli</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The estimation of the initial marking minimum (MIM) is a crucial problem in labeled Petri nets. In the case of multiple choices, the search for the initial marking leads to a problem of optimization of the minimum allocation of resources with two constraints. The first concerns the firing sequence that could be legal on the initial marking with respect to the firing vector. The second deals with the total number of tokens that can be minimal. In this article, the MIM problem is solved by the meta-heuristic particle swarm optimization (PSO). The proposed approach presents the advantages of PSO to satisfy the two previous constraints and find all possible combinations of minimum initial marking with the best computing time. This method, more efficient than conventional ones, has an excellent impact on the resolution of the MIM problem. We prove through a set of definitions, lemmas, and examples, the effectiveness of our approach. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=marking" title="marking">marking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=production%20system" title=" production system"> production system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=labeled%20Petri%20nets" title=" labeled Petri nets"> labeled Petri nets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20swarm%20optimization" title=" particle swarm optimization"> particle swarm optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98499/particle-swarm-optimization-based-method-for-minimum-initial-marking-in-labeled-petri-nets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98499.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">179</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">130</span> Socioeconomic Impact of Capture and Sale of Scylla serrata in Metuge Community</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siran%20Offman">Siran Offman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Te%C3%B3Filo%20Nhamuhuco"> TeóFilo Nhamuhuco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ez%C3%ADDio%20Cuamba"> EzíDio Cuamba</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Scylla serrata is important for livelihood in coastal communities in Metuge District, Northern Mozambique, where the study was conducted from June to August 2014. The aim was to estimate the socioeconomic impact of mangrove crabs captures in Metuge communities. Data was collected based on semi-structured questionnaire in the landing sites and in local crab markets. In total were inquired 26 crab collectors and 6 traders, this activity is practiced only by men, with ages ranging from 15 to 68 years old. To capture the crab the collectors use a long iron hook with 1.5-2 meters, during 5-7 times per week, spending about 5-8 hours a day. The captured varied from 2-20 kg per day. In the village 1 kg costs 1-1.5 USD and 3 USD applied by traders who sell along the streets, for tourists and specific customers from Asia, where the traders can sell until 50 kg.The incomes vary from 11-174USD per month. The value chain between the collectors and trader is unreasonable, as the second makes less effort and earns more, thereby the socio-economic impact is observed, however not high for the collectors, as the money is intended to purchase food and agricultural instruments. In another hand, 90% of collectors dropped out the school, and the money does not have a great impact as they still have precarious housing, rely on community wells to access water, do not have electric power and possess high number of family members. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=socio-economic%20and%20of" title="socio-economic and of">socio-economic and of</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impacts" title=" impacts"> impacts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capture" title=" capture"> capture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sale" title=" sale"> sale</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Scylla%20serrata" title=" Scylla serrata"> Scylla serrata</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53951/socioeconomic-impact-of-capture-and-sale-of-scylla-serrata-in-metuge-community" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53951.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">222</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">129</span> Neural Nets Based Approach for 2-Cells Power Converter Control</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamel%20Laidi">Kamel Laidi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khelifa%20Benmansour"> Khelifa Benmansour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ouahid%20Bouchhida"> Ouahid Bouchhida</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Neural networks-based approach for 2-cells serial converter has been developed and implemented. The approach is based on a behavioural description of the different operating modes of the converter. Each operating mode represents a well-defined configuration, and for which is matched an operating zone satisfying given invariance conditions, depending on the capacitors' voltages and the load current of the converter. For each mode, a control vector whose components are the control signals to be applied to the converter switches has been associated. Therefore, the problem is reduced to a classification task of the different operating modes of the converter. The artificial neural nets-based approach, which constitutes a powerful tool for this kind of task, has been adopted and implemented. The application to a 2-cells chopper has allowed ensuring efficient and robust control of the load current and a high capacitors voltages balancing. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neural%20nets" title="neural nets">neural nets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=control" title=" control"> control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multicellular%20converters" title=" multicellular converters"> multicellular converters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=2-cells%20chopper" title=" 2-cells chopper"> 2-cells chopper</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136479/neural-nets-based-approach-for-2-cells-power-converter-control" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136479.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">834</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">128</span> Cloud Support for Scientific Workflow Execution: Prototyping Solutions for Remote Sensing Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sofiane%20Bendoukha">Sofiane Bendoukha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Moldt"> Daniel Moldt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hayat%20Bendoukha"> Hayat Bendoukha</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Workflow concepts are essential for the development of remote sensing applications. They can help users to manage and process satellite data and execute scientific experiments on distributed resources. The objective of this paper is to introduce an approach for the specification and the execution of complex scientific workflows in Cloud-like environments. The approach strives to support scientists during the modeling, the deployment and the monitoring of their workflows. This work takes advantage from Petri nets and more pointedly the so-called reference nets formalism, which provides a robust modeling/implementation technique. RENEWGRASS is a tool that we implemented and integrated into the Petri nets editor and simulator RENEW. It provides an easy way to support not experienced scientists during the specification of their workflows. It allows both modeling and enactment of image processing workflows from the remote sensing domain. Our case study is related to the implementation of vegetation indecies. We have implemented the Normalized Differences Vegetation Index (NDVI) workflow. Additionally, we explore the integration possibilities of the Cloud technology as a supplementary layer for the deployment of the current implementation. For this purpose, we discuss migration patterns of data and applications and propose an architecture. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cloud%20computing" title="cloud computing">cloud computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scientific%20workflows" title=" scientific workflows"> scientific workflows</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=petri%20nets" title=" petri nets"> petri nets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RENEWGRASS" title=" RENEWGRASS"> RENEWGRASS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22158/cloud-support-for-scientific-workflow-execution-prototyping-solutions-for-remote-sensing-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22158.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">447</span> </span> </div> </div> <ul class="pagination"> <li class="page-item disabled"><span class="page-link">&lsaquo;</span></li> <li class="page-item active"><span class="page-link">1</span></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20entangling%20nets&amp;page=2">2</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20entangling%20nets&amp;page=3">3</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20entangling%20nets&amp;page=4">4</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20entangling%20nets&amp;page=5">5</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20entangling%20nets&amp;page=6">6</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crab%20entangling%20nets&amp;page=2" rel="next">&rsaquo;</a></li> </ul> </div> </main> <footer> <div id="infolinks" class="pt-3 pb-2"> <div class="container"> <div style="background-color:#f5f5f5;" class="p-3"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> About <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support#legal-information">Legal</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/WASET-16th-foundational-anniversary.pdf">WASET celebrates its 16th foundational anniversary</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Account <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile">My Account</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Explore <li><a href="https://waset.org/disciplines">Disciplines</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conferences">Conferences</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conference-programs">Conference Program</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Publications</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Research <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts">Abstracts</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Periodicals</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/archive">Archive</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Open Science <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Philosophy.pdf">Open Science Philosophy</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Award.pdf">Open Science Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Society-Open-Science-and-Open-Innovation.pdf">Open Innovation</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Postdoctoral-Fellowship-Award.pdf">Postdoctoral Fellowship Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Scholarly-Research-Review.pdf">Scholarly Research Review</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Support <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">Support</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Report Abuse</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container text-center"> <hr style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:.3rem;"> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" class="text-muted small">Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License</a> <div id="copy" class="mt-2">&copy;
