Klages的研究团队填补了这一空白，他们在南极大陆首次发现了琥珀。相关研究成果11月12日发表于《南极科学》。</p> <p style=";; margin: 0px 0px 26px; text-align: justify; word-break: break-all;"> 2017年，研究人员在乘坐“极星”号破冰船进行科研探险时，利用海底钻机MARUM-MeBo70，从946米深的海底沉积物岩心中采集到了琥珀。他们将该发现命名为“松岛琥珀”，这个名字来源于它的发现地点——南极州阿蒙森海湾的松岛湾，具体坐标是南纬73.57°，西经 107.09°。</p> <p style=";; word-break: break-all;"> 尽管如此，研究人员还是发现了令人兴奋的结构。“南极琥珀可能含有原始树皮的微内含物。琥珀是固体、透明和半透明的颗粒，质量很高，表明它埋藏在地表附近，因为琥珀会随着热应力和埋藏深度的增加而消散。”德国萨克森州环境、农业与地质办公室顾问、德国弗赖堡工业大学的Henny Gerschel解释说。。</p> <p style=";; margin: 0px 0px 26px;
