Return to me, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>Lift up your eyes on the streets and see where you have not defiled yourselves on the streets. You sat on them like a raven in the wilderness, and you defiled the land with your prostitution and with your evil<p> <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>Gentle showers have been withheld and there was no spring rain, and you had the forehead of a whore, and you were unwilling to be reproved<p> <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>Behold, therefore, call to me, "My Father!”, and “You are he who raised me from my youth!”<p> <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>Will it be kept for eternity, or will it be kept for eternities? Behold, you have spoken and you have done evil and you have been empowered<p> <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH said to me in the days of Yoshia the King: “I have seen the thing that the inhabitant of Israel has done. She went to every high mountain and under every thick tree and she committed prostitution there <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And I said after she had done all these things: "Return to me" and she did not return, and her lying sister Yehuda saw it <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And she saw all her possessions, and because the inhabitant of Israel committed adultery, I left her and I gave her a writing of divorce, and her lying sister Yehuda was not afraid, and she went and committed prostitution also <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And because her fornication was debauched, she defiled the land, and she committed adultery with stone and with wood <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>Also after all these things, her lying sister Yehuda did not return to me from all her heart, but only in falsehood, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And LORD JEHOVAH said to me: “The inhabitant of Israel has justified herself from her lying sister Yehuda<p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>Go and proclaim these answers into the north and say: “Return, inhabitant of Israel, says LORD JEHOVAH, and I shall not harden my face with you, because I am good, says LORD JEHOVAH, and I shall not harbor ill will to eternity<p> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>However, know your sins that you have sinned against LORD JEHOVAH your God, and you scattered your ways to foreigners under every thick tree. You have not listened to my voice, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>Return, backslider children, says LORD JEHOVAH, for I was delighted with you and I led you each from a city and two from a family, and I brought you to Zion<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And I shall give to you Shepherds according to my heart, and they shall shepherd you with knowledge and with understanding <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And it shall be when you will be fruitful and you will multiply in the earth in those days, says LORD JEHOVAH, they will not say again: “The ark of the covenant of LORD JEHOVAH”, and you will not bring it up on the heart and it shall not be remembered, and they shall not visit it, and it shall not be made again <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>In that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of LORD JEHOVAH, and all the nations shall look to the name of LORD JEHOVAH and they shall not depart again after the desires of their evil heart in those days <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>They of the house of Yehuda shall go with those of the house of Israel, and they shall come as one from the land of the north to the land that I left by inheritance to their fathers<p> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And I have said: "I shall count you among the children and I shall give to you the chosen land and the inheritance of the hosts of armies of the nations.” And I said: “You shall call me ‘My Father’, and you shall not turn from behind me.”<p> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>Truly, as a wife tells lies with her companion, in this way the children of Israel have lied to me, says LORD JEHOVAH<p> <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>A sound on the streets was heard, weeping and begging of the house of Israel, because they perverted their ways, and they forgot LORD JEHOVAH their God<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>Return, children backsliders, and I shall heal your backsliding, and they said: “Behold, we are yours, because you are LORD JEHOVAH our God!”<p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/jeremiah/3-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>Truly the hills and the strength of the mountains are for falsehood.
